Dragon Genesis: I Can Create Dragons

“The Shield of the Army, huh…”
Kael muttered as he stared at the Brimback Ants.
“Indeed.”
Imperia nodded.
She then turned towards the smallest Ant Colony and,
“And you have already met her, Zhaxah, the Queen of the Hallow Tracers.”
Kael nodded as he glanced at the Golden Ant.
“There are 4,400 Hallow Tracers in total.
As mentioned before, they scout terrain, locate magical anomalies, and relay battlefield intelligence.
Hallowtracer Ants can become nearly transparent, with reflective carapaces that bend light and render them invisible. They are equipped with mana-sensitive antennae that can detect active magic, lingering spell signatures, and enchanted terrain.
When sent into a region, they map every passage, elevation, mana disturbance, and residual energy. They communicate silently through psychic pulses, forming a hive-wide sensory web that I can access in real-time, just like Whisperveil Ants.
When danger is sensed, they do not engage—they mark the zone, and the mark is shown in the mental hive-map they have created.
They are also the reason I managed to find all these Ants so quickly.
They used Mornmelt Ants for food, they hid in colonies built by Deepmaw Ants, they hid behind Crybleed or Brimback Ants when in danger.
Even though they did not communicate with each other before I came here, the Hallow Tracer, knowing they were weak, used others to their advantage and profited off them.”
Imperia explained.
“They are smart.”
Kael commented, acknowledging their ability. Imperia nodded back,
“They are highly intelligent, yes. All Hallow Tracer Ants are. Their intelligence is the reason they managed to survive in these harsh conditions, and now that I am here, they can become even more intelligent because I can combine their Hiveminds with the Whisperveil Hivemind, increasing the efficiency twofold.
Adding other Ants into the equation will allow you to create a self-sustaining Empire of your own—an Empire you can command however you wish.”
Kael’s expression changed when he heard those words. Even Lavinia couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
Till now, she believed that rarely anything would ever surprise her again. After all, she sleeps with literal Dragons!
But…
This was absolutely bogus. Ridiculous.
Yes, she knew Imperia was amazing. She had seen how useful the Ant was, how she helped them escape a pursuit like it was nothing and travel without encountering danger even once.
But handing over a self-sustaining Ant Empire…?
What in the hell was happening here!?
What’s worse?
Imperia still hadn’t stopped talking. The options she gave were endless.
“These Ants usually stay in the mountains, away from human settlements, to avoid unnecessary conflicts, but if you wish, I can bring them near the settlements so it will be easy to manage everything.”
The Ant spoke, and before Kael could say anything—
“But I will suggest you keep them here. The nearer to the settlement they are, the more humans they will encounter, and even though I will have complete control over them, I cannot trust humans.”
Kael stared at his daughter in silence.
He had felt this before, but just like his Dragons, Imperia too didn’t like Humans very much, even though she didn’t show it as much as them.
Adding Vita to the mix and how she absolutely loves making human lives miserable with her illusions, and Nyrri, who still refuses to talk to any other human besides him and Lavinia—Kael could tell that his Bonds did not like Humans at all.
’We are that hateable, huh…’
He chuckled inwardly as he continued listening to his daughter.
“The area here is bigger than the mainland where the Velmourns reside. If you allow it, I can take over the largest mountain and use the Deepmaw Ants to create a large, easily defendable colony that will be used by all these Ants.
I can make them work together. The Mornmelts will produce food without having to worry about their safety, the Deepmaw will continue to expand the colony as the number of Ants increases in the future, the Brimbacks will focus on defense, Crybleeds on offense, the Hallow Tracers will map the entire colony, and the Whisperveil will keep an eye out for outside threats and handle information.
Under my command, I will assign specific roles to them all. The overall quality of life will increase, which will ensure the rise in numbers, further expanding the Empire.
I will also ensure that the Empire is hidden from the world’s eyes. No one will be able to find it at first glance, even if they are standing right above it.
Yes, there will be problems.
Even though I can manage the Empire from a distance, direct contact will take time. The Whisperveils will also be divided, since I would need to assign some here and others in the mainland.
But I believe this is a better option.
The colony here would be safer. I will create warm incubation chambers where the Queens can continue laying eggs safely, so as the numbers increase without any major conflicts, soon, you will have a large army to command.
It wouldn’t be long before the number of Whisperveils under you reaches 10,000 again and goes beyond.”
Imperia spoke confidently.
“Are you sure you will be able to manage it all? Won’t it put too much burden on you?”
Kael questioned, a little worried.
Imperia was responsible, yes. He knew it better than anyone, but honestly, the little girl was taking too much pressure.
She was talking about a freaking empire!
“It won’t, Father.”
The Ant answered confidently.
“But—”
Kael tried to counter.
“Plus, I am not the one doing the work here—the Queens will. I simply have to pass the instructions.”
Imperia explained.
Of course, Kael was still worried. He could see the advantages if everything went well, but he felt like he was putting too much responsibility on his little girl.
But then—
“Father.”
Imperia called out.
“Please let me do this.”
She requested in an earnest tone.
Kael stared at her, and the Mother of All Ants continued,
“Winter is coming.
And when it does, things will become even more difficult. The Mornmelt Farms will collapse because of extreme cold or beast attacks. Deepmaws are often at risk because humans exploit them. Crybleeds have no scouts, often targeting beasts too large for them or encounter a herd in desperation. Brimbacks would have a difficult time finding food, and Hallow Tracers are too weak to survive on their own.
My children need me, Father.
If I do not act, I will lose many of them to Winter.”
Imperia then stared at her Father with a grim look on her face and,
“Please, Father.
Let me do this.”
She requested again.
