Archer was standing on the wall while staring out at the snow covered landscape as a random Homeguard approached him. His head snapped toward the Fire Elf woman who knelt respectfully.
”My Emperor. This may offend you, but could you heal my husband and children? They have fallen ill because of the cold,” she nervously pleaded. ”I believe they will pass if not treated. I’ve been searching for doctors, unfortunately I cannot afford one.”
”Where are they?” he asked with narrowed eyes.
She pointed to the nearby village that was forming around the Legion Fortress, causing him to nod. Archer grabbed her arm and teleported them to the road outside before speaking. ”Take me to your home, elf.”
The woman guided him through a street made up of half-finished houses, her steps sure despite the slippery ground. They emerged into a cluster of completed homes, their sturdy walls standing in quiet contrast to the chaos of construction.
She led him toward a medium-sized one lit up by torches on the outside. That’s when he noticed the Homeguard patrolling the street stop to look at the,m but when the men recognized him, they panicked before walking off.
Archer let out a low chuckle as the woman pushed open the door, but the sound faltered when a chorus of coughs greeted him. Stepping inside, his eyes settled on four young children nestled in a bed.
Their small forms huddled beneath thin blankets, alongside a man whose labored breathing echoed in the stillness. In the corner sat another woman, her face etched with worry, her features mirroring those of the Homeguard who had sought his aid.
”These five are who needed healing and my eldest daughter who just contracted whatever they have,” the guard revealed.
Archer nodded before casting a healing spell over the entire family. This restored them to full health within seconds. The older woman’s jaw dropped as tears welled up; she went to lunge, but he held his hand up.
”No touching,” he said with an apologetic expression. ”Sorry, but I don’t like people touching me.”
”I’m sorry, your Majesty,” the elf woman replied.
Following that, he dropped a pouch of gold coins on a nearby table while speaking. ”Use this to buy the best firewood, use it to keep warm, and I’ll make sure your family gets the first apartments when they’re finished construction.”
The older man sat up groggily, causing the two women to rush over to their loved one and check him. He couldn’t help but smile before leaving the home after saying his goodbyes and stepping into the cold air.
Archer drew in a deep breath, steadying himself just as the door creaked open behind him. The older woman’s daughter slipped outside, her shoulders hunching as a gust of frigid air swept over her.
The young elf woman shivered visibly, the cold biting at her exposed skin, her breath clouding in the crisp morning light before speaking with a hopeful glint. ”Thank you for helping my family. If there’s anything you need, I’d be happy to do it.”
‘She’s hinting at something,’ he thought when hearing her words, which made him remember the situation with Apollania. ‘Never again.’
”No need, you’re citizens in my empire, and it’s the least I can do as your mother guards the wall that keeps the Alliance out,” he replied.
This made the young woman’s shoulders drop. She looked at him, steeled her nerves, and offered. ”I’d be willing to join your harem. I know you don’t have a Fire Elf wife, and I could be a good one. I know how to do loads of things that could be of use to you.”
Archer sighed before shaking his head. ”Unfortunately, that’s not how things work with me. I don’t know you, I don’t even know your name. But I understand what you’re feeling, but this isn’t the way to go about it.”
He turned toward the young woman and continued. ”Put that passion into helping my new empire flourish. Prove the people that Draconia isn’t bad like their lies claim, just look at Emberport and its expanision.”
”Passion? Flourish?” she muttered.
The Fire Elf thought for a moment and questioned. ”You allow women to work for your government?”
”Yes, many of my wives do,” Archer revealed. ”Others works on improving crops, the military and all kinds of things.”
When he heard her question, it caught his interest, prompting him to ask. ”Is there anything you’re into? Books? Inventing?”
”I like creating stuff but don’t get much time to do it nowadays since everyone fell ill,” she answered honestly.
Archer smiled before speaking. ”Tell me your name?”
”Marianna my lord,” she replied.
”Go get your mother and bring her here,” he said while wrapping his cloak around him.
She darted back inside, her footsteps quick, only to reemerge moments later as Archer addressed the older woman. ”Your daughter will be collaborating with the government to enhance the village,” he said.
Both of them went wide eyed just as he sent Talila a message about Marianna and her potential help on the construction of southern Avidia. Once that was done, the pair thanked him again before he teleported back to the wall.
The silver-haired beauty met him there while wrapped in a thick cloak and shivering. Archer smiled when seeing this, he wrapped her in a tight hug as she melted into his embrace with a warm expression.
”Thank you, husband,” she muttered in an exhausted voice.
Archer gently wrapped the young woman in warmth, his hands lingering briefly to chase away the chill before he teleported them back to her room. He slid into bed beside the mixed elf.
Moments later, Kassandra stirred, her arms coiling around him as a shiver rippled through her, her body instinctively seeking his heat in the quiet aftermath of their return. ”You’re cold Arch!” she moaned with a shiver.
They laughed before falling back to sleep just after he heated the blankets, causing both women to beam when they felt it. He nodded off, and seconds later, he woke up to the cannons firing.
Archer woke up and instantly sent out a wave of mana that shot out for miles. Moments later, he sensed a monster horde charging toward the wall. His Broodmaws and Burrowfiends were wiped out within moments.
He sighed before teleporting to the top of the wall without thinking, only to appear shirtless, and that made him shiver. The female guard’s eyes instantly landed on him, but he ignored the looks.
Without waiting, Archer waved his hand and summoned thousands of Venomwings that swarmed toward the enemies. The creatures dived down to attack the incoming Mutated Humans that the Alliance was using.
Their stingers and sharp legs tore through their flesh with ease. While watching this, he put on a shirt and mumbled. ”Now the Alliance is using monsters against me. I’ll ruin their other armies.”
He couldn’t help but chuckle before summoning Elara, who appeared with a yelp. The Dragonkin beauty beamed when spotting him. ”Hello, husband, what can I do for you?”
”Can you increase the defences and help Talila get the East under control?” Archer replied with a charming smile.
This made Elara blush, but she quickly nodded, asking. ”Do you mind if I bring another Legion out here? I can send for them now?”
Archer agreed with a nod. ”Do what you think is best. We need to be ready for when the Alliance moves again,” he replied.
”That’s right, we can increase our defences along the border with the amount of soldiers we have here,” she spoke while looking out to the snow covered landscape as a snowstorm lashed against the wall.
The mages cast a shield over them to block out the worst of the weather. Archer admired their spirit and reinforced the barrier with his mana. Everyone was amazed by the wave of violet energy strengthening it.
Once that was done, he turned to Elara and informed the beautiful redhead. ”I’m going to terrorize the Alliance and steal their wealth.”
She started giggling when hearing before speaking in a concerned tone. ”Please be careful out there. I don’t want the enemies to capture you.”
Archer grinned and vanished, he reappeared behind the woman and kissed her neck which made her smile, replying. ”I’ll be fine, gorgeous. Now wait here for me, and when I get back, my tongue will thank you.”
Elara shivered at his words but eagerly nodded and answered with a knowing smile. ”I look forward to it, handsome.”
Following that, Archer teleported to Vardentia and appeared in a random ally in a random city using Gate. He chuckled before mumbling. ”Let’s not use a disguise and see how long they take to notice me.”
Moments later, he summoned the Tressyms from the Domain. The fluffy cats flew all over the place and nudged him with their head as he spoke. ”Can you go find the enemy banks for me, please?”
”Meow!” they answered and started flying off in all directions.
Archer watched them fly away before stepping out of the alleyway while whistling.
