Chapter 1639: Empyrean Resonance Tree of Authority

Resonances that reached the ninth-grade were capable of manifesting in all sorts of ways. Lower ninth-grade resonances produced Spirit Avatars, which allowed one to increase the speed at which they converted worldly natural energy into resonant power. It could bolster one's resonance arts in battle as well.

Middle ninth-grade resonances took the form of Archaic Runes. They enabled one to experience Primal Atavism with their resonances and gain a closer connection to source origin, a fundamental building block of energy. As a result, one would meld more strongly with their resonances.

Upper ninth-grade resonances manifested Apex Resonance Crystal Cores. This was a mysterious object, capable of absorbing worldly natural energy and giving birth to the almighty source origin energy. Li Luo and Jiang Qing'e were capable of battling False Kings and Single Crowned Kings as sixth-grade Transcendents because of this.

After all, only source origin could compete with itself. Even an upper ninth-grade Pinnacle Duke would be easily crushed by a King Stage expert without it.

There was a divine tree shining between Li Luo's eyebrows, overflowing with an indescribably sacred charm. Every single leaf contained endless amounts of source origin, and if they were to descend to the ground, they would become physical objects that represented the attributes of the resonance.

Li Luo realized what it was and thought, "This is the manifestation of a supreme ninth-grade resonance... the Empyrean Resonance Tree of Authority."

The Empyrean Tree was bathed in a myriad of colors because there were as many as eight different kinds of source origin flowing within it, intertwining to form an extraordinary object.

"I've actually succeeded."

Li Luo's eyes flickered violently as he sensed the changes that his body had undergone. He had never expected that the fusion of his eight resonances would lead to a temporary supreme ninth-grade resonance.

This was a very rare phenomenon and, normally speaking, was the hallmark of a Heavenly Emperor expert.

Throughout history, the number of people who had managed to obtain a supreme ninth-grade resonance before the Heavenly Emperor Stage was probably less than ten. Even Li Luo wasn't fully confident that he could have produced such a result before he experienced it first-hand. Clearly, he had underestimated the esoteric powers of the Ten Divines Absolute Resonance Halo as well as his own eight resonances.

His two upper ninth-grade dual resonances, two middle ninth-grade dual resonances, and the Ten Divines Absolute Resonance Halo had led to the supreme ninth-grade resonance being born, albeit temporarily.

Even the knowledgeable Saturnine Hydra Devil King was taken aback by this development. It was precisely because it knew the secrets behind it that it was aware of how difficult this was to achieve.

Its true form was at the peak of the Triple Crowned King Stage, and thus, it was pursuing the same goal. Only after coming into contact with this realm could it truly step into the Heavenly Emperor Stage. It could never have expected that what it had been striving towards for thousands of years would be accomplished by the recently ascended Transcendent Duke Li Luo.

The Empyrean Tree swayed slowly, pouring out divine light. As Li Luo's gaze swept across the heavens and the earth, the clouds parted and the sun shone wherever he looked.

Worldly natural energy seemed to move with his every thought, turning vigorous and lively. He could sense that if he wished, he could pull all of the worldly natural energy on the East Divine Continent towards the Xia Kingdom, forming a cultivation holy land.

Li Luo sighed in his heart. "Is this the power that the Heavenly Emperors wield? With a thought, they can move the stars and reshape the world as they see fit."

That said, this extreme power was not firmly in his grasp yet. He could already sense that merely moments after it manifested, the Empyrean Resonance Tree of Authority had started to dim. The state he was in was forced and he couldn't sustain it for long. Even so, it was more than enough to deal with the Devil King.

No longer hesitating, he directed his attention towards the Saturnine Hydra Devil King. Mysterious light rose up from the Empyrean Resonance Tree of Authority and swept towards the Five Devil Heads, which were burning like the endless purgatories of hell.

There wasn't some sort of cataclysmic phenomenon accompanying the wave of light. However, this was the first time the Devil King was truly unnerved, and it began to retreat. Its eyes were full of fear as it understood what the ordinary-looking light was.

The Light of Authority.

The power of Authority was the mark that Heavenly Emperors left on the world around them. With Authority, they were like gods who had been granted a decree from the heavens. It allowed them to control everything between the heavens and the earth, and it simultaneously served to protect them.

Not a single thing that belonged to a lower plane of existence, no matter how destructive it was, would be incapable of harming them.

Thus, even if a Heavenly Emperor merely stood in place unguarded, no matter how hard a King tried, they would be unable to break the protection granted by their Authority. The two sides were simply not on the same playing field.

Li Luo, with the aid of the Ten Divines Absolute Resonance Halo, had fused his eight resonances and temporarily obtained a supreme ninth-grade resonance that enabled him to wield the vast might of Authority.

No matter how crude or shallow his Authority was, it was still a lethal weapon against anyone beneath the Heavenly Emperor Stage.

As the Light of Authority flew through the skies, all of the corruption source origin produced by the Saturnine Hydra Devil King vanished without a trace. It was as though it was wiped out of existence, like wiping chalk off a blackboard. The corruption source origin that the Devil King prided itself on collapsed the second it came into contact with the Light of Authority.

It let out a guttural roar, and the five blazing Devil Heads released a large amount of ashes that ascended into the skies, agglomerating into a mountain of ashes.

"Myriad Heads Saturnine Furnace Mountain!"

The gray mountain of ash blotted out the sun and covered the sky, and countless hideous heads rolled around on its surface. Stygian flames flowed from the seven orifices of each head as they let out ear-rending cries of pain. Terrifying amounts of source origin energy gushed out in waves with heaven-shaking, earth-shattering might.

The Saturnine Hydra Devil King was clearly not planning to hold anything back when faced with Li Luo's killing move. It knew how tyrannical and powerful the Light of Authority was and also the fact that Li Luo's current state only allowed him to use one such attack. As long as it survived this attack, Li Luo would be unable to put up any resistance afterwards.

Li Luo had forcefully used the Authority of Heavenly Emperors, and even a Transcendent Duke couldn't maintain it for long.

The Light of Authority descended from the skies and flew straight into the Myriad Heads Mountain. Once it passed through, the colossal entity was split into half. Vast amounts of corruption source origin were casually annihilated just like that.

The reflection of the approaching divine light was growing larger in the blazing eyes of the Devil King. It suddenly trembled, transforming into a cloud of ashes that attempted to disperse in every direction.

The light shone over it all, unperturbed.

Pained, excruciating roars echoed out in the skies.

The Devil King reappeared in the distance. It was in a miserable state—half of its body had vanished and three of the Devil Heads had been destroyed.

This sight left the crowd cheering in disbelief and jubilation.

This was the first time they had emerged victorious in a clash against the Saturnine Hydra Devil King.
