Chapter 1800 A Surprise Bargain

Chapter 1800 A Surprise Bargain

A few years ago, Grey met Ellis in the Azure Continent while he was trying to heal Void. Ellis told him of the Aurora Continent as well as where to find him. He entered the Aurora Continent and met the commanding Sylvia who was far stronger than he was then. She later forced him into competing in multiple Region's rankings. Sylvia forcefully making him take part in these competitions slowed him down. He only got to where Ellis was staying after some time. Coincidentally, Ellis was sent out to wipe out a bandit group that was terrorizing their territory.

Unbeknownst to both Grey and Ellis at the time, the bandits robbed a group from the Vaergahl Family a while back. With Grey's help, the duo wiped out the bandit group, and Grey was the one who acquired the ring with the Dragon blood essence at the end. Without those series of incidents, Grey might've most likely never tried to absorb a Dragon blood essence. There's also the possibility that he might not have even been able to acquire this extraordinary ability if he had used a different Dragon's blood essence.

Jacob didn't sense loopholes in Grey's story, nodding his head, he asked about how things were now in the outside world. Hearing that the Gnomes were on the verge of once again attacking the Aurora Continent, Grey heard the immense anger and hatred in the heart of Jacob as soon as he heard of the Gnomes.

Just like the Lyttelton Family that has been around for so long, the Vaergahl Family were still one of those old Families that also experienced the bitter war from all those years ago. The Vaergahl Family suffered severe casualties, this was something Grey found out later on. The fact that the Vaergahl Family is able to still stand this strong after losing most of their powerhouses in that era is testament of their impressive strength.

"You're still too weak. Only those in the Ninth stage and above can have an impact in this war." There was a little hint of disappointment and sadness in Jacob's voice when he said this. Anyone with eyes could tell that Grey was a one a million years genius at least on the level of someone like Jacob himself, else Sir Astarot wouldn't send him here. Jacob is also aware of this. However, his talent doesn't count for anything in front of overwhelming strength. No matter how terrifying Grey's potential is, he was still in the middle of growing.

'If he's given enough time he can fight time. But…' Sadness came over Jacob as he thought about the time Grey could not get. From all the things Grey told him, he could tell that in at most two years, the war will break out. Grey is currently a Sixth stage Sovereign, even with the help of the treasure he kept here, Grey would still need at least five to ten years to fully digest it.

Grey didn't mind Jacob Vaergahl's words, after all, he was correct. In the grand scheme of things, he knew he was still too weak. Even against a Ninth stage Sovereign who hadn't had any proper life and death battle experience forced him into a tough battle of tenacity. In a sparring competition it was okay, but in a real life and death battle, he would prefer not to be in such a position. Immediately after the battle, if he had been attacked by someone even in the Third stage of the Sovereign Plane, then he wouldn't have a good chance of using his elements to attack, using only his body. As strong as his body, if he can't get close to the Elementalist attacking him, he would be nothing but a sitting duck. Unless he takes the risk of over-exhausting himself which is bad for his future growth.

"I know this, Senior, that's why I came here the moment I entered this place. I believe that's why Sir Astarot also sent me here."

"Me too." Jacob Vaergahl knew that Sir Astarot sent Grey here because he could sense the shocking potential he possessed.

Jacob Vaergahl didn't dally any further, there was no point talking about other things. He was already updated on the happenings of the outside world and even heard that the Vaergahl Family sent a bunch of geniuses to train with the Dragons for a short time. At least he was at peace knowing that the Vaergahl Family were still fine.

"Kid, originally, I planned to pass this on to someone from my Family, unfortunately it is what it is." Jacob sighed before continuing in a serious tone, "Before giving this to you, you must make an oath to never be enemies with my Vaergahl Family, and in times of trouble, you must help them."

Grey's eyes twitched when he heard this, not expecting Jacob Vaergahl to want to tie him with the Vaergahl Family, he hurriedly injected, "Senior, I have no problem with not being enemies with your family, they've never given me a reason to want to take them as an enemy. As for the part of helping them no matter the circumstances, I can not accept that Senior."

Recklessly making a vow to always help the Vaergahl Family at its time of need isn't the problem, the problem is that he wasn't close to the Vaergahl Family, and there's also the possibility of them offending the entire Aurora Continent, what would he do then? Single-handedly fight against all the powerhouses of the Aurora Continent?

Jacob Vaergahl listened to Grey's words, and after giving it some thoughts, he also noticed that it was a bit excessive.

"How about lending a helping hand whenever you can?" He asked.

If anyone from the Vaergahl Family saw Jacob Vaergahl bargaining with a Sixth stage Sovereign about the safety of the Vaergahl Family that had a few Half God Plane Elementalists, they'd think he had gone crazy. Other than Jacob, no one else knew the reason he was asking this of Grey.
