Chapter 1803 Traits Of A Genius
"You've refined a Dragon's blood essence before, correct?"
Grey nodded, recalling his experience
The second he recalled his previous experience he was immediately struck by the meaning behind Jacob Vaergahl's words. When he refined the Dragon's blood essence all those years ago, he went through unimaginable pains. It was as if his body was being shredded at the time, luckily, his tolerance to pain was quite high. But the moment he recalled this, he remembered that he had something to counter this. At the time when he was experimenting on the human body due to Necromancers, he found the pain receptors in the human body and could cut it off at will.
He had used this in multiple fights, ensuring that the pain didn't distract him from the fight.
Calming his mind he replied, "Although the energy contained in Senior's blood essence is greater than the one I refined the last time. I believe I can deal with this."
"Alright, since that's the case I'll leave that to you." Jacob Vaergahl naturally didn't expect Grey to chicken away. After a brief silence he added, "Oh, as for the items in my ring. Since you're not from my family but managed to obtain this ability, I'll give you a technique for it."
After saying this, a scroll shot out of the space ring.
"This is my Vaergahl's Family's secret technique that has been improved by me. I want you to learn it, take it as payment for helping me pass on the rest of the items in the space ring to my family."
Grey grabbed the scroll but didn't read the contents, "Thank you for Senior's gift. If it's not excessive I hope Senior can fulfill a request of mine."
"Oh, what's that?" Jacob Vaergahl didn't expect that Grey would still want to ask for something else.
"It's like this Senior…"
Grey spoke about the array that was laid around the hill and his intent to study it. When he was studying it the first time, he didn't think that Jacob Vaergahl's spiritual consciousness would still be in this world. Having the opportunity to speak with him now, he wanted to see if he could ask for a few tips from him. A few pointers from an old arraymaster like Jacob Vaergahl could bring about tremendous growth to someone like Grey. Whenever Grey sees any new or strange array formations, he almost always aggressively studies them to try to not only crack but also understand how they were made.
Heading the eagerness in Grey's voice, he almost felt like compared to when Grey was speaking about the treasure, he was more excited about learning about array formations. Jacob Vaergahl almost let out a chuckle as he knew that he had indeed met a true genius. Most geniuses tend to have the trait of being eager and adept learners. This is the reason they grow faster and stronger than others, their willingness to learn and grow stronger. Even with Klaus' playfulness and sometimes unwillingness to learn, he's a genius through and through in the sense that he was a very adept learner. The fact that every secret technique taught to him in the Moonlight Faction was quickly mastered by him, even the ones that usually takes hundreds of years to master. This alone showcased his freakish aptitude for learning.
Jacob didn't hide anything from Grey and went on to tell him about his findings and experiments on array formations. He even passed on multiple scrolls to Grey that gave detailed explanations and also ways to create certain array formations.
As Grey listened, it was like he was introduced to a new world. Other than when he was with Chris while he was in the Lunar Academy, he hadn't really been taught by anyone about array formations as most of his present knowledge was from him mindlessly poking around as he experimented with it. Hearing Jacob Vaergahl's words, some of the things that seemed blurry and vague became crystal clear to him. In a short ten minutes, Grey believed that if he were placed at the foot of the hill again, it would take around half the time to achieve the same result as the last time when he tried studying it.
He immersed himself in the voice of Jacob Vaergahl, and even after over an hour, Grey was still in a state of trance. The voice had died down about ten minutes ago, but Grey could still hear it as clear as day.
Three hours went by with silence reigning in the opening.
Grey opened his eyes and a bright glow flashed across them. Looking down, he saw a small wooden plaque, he didn't find the box again, but he saw the ring still in the same position. Stretching his hand forward, he grabbed the plaque and his mind was filled with the voice of Jacob Vaergahl, but this time, it was more of a message than a conversation.
"I didn't expect that you'd fall into a trance for so long. My spiritual energy is already used up, hence the reason I left this message behind…"
Jacob Vaergahl once again reminded him about handing the ring over to the Vaergahl Family, as well as also assisting them whenever they were in trouble. The silver box was kept inside the ring by Jacob.
After the message was relayed to Grey, the plaque shattered. The last trace of Jacob Vaergahl, the genius from thousands of years ago, finally disappeared. This time, there will be no chances to ever speak to him again.
Grey didn't feel any sadness, turning his gaze to the space ring, he brought out the silver box.
"Void."
Void appeared beside Grey, looking at the silver box with some curiosity. He didn't have any desire to refine it, although it was beneficial to him, he knew that it would have a better effect when used by Grey.
"Rest assured, no one will be able to touch you if they even manage to pass through the formation." Void knew why Grey called for him, so he reassured him as soon as he retracted his gaze from the silver box.
Grey nodded and sat down cross-legged, closing his eyes. He didn't immediately refine it, rather, he wanted to return to his peak state. Falling into a trance used up some of his mental energy, restoring it was his goal for now.
