Chapter 1853: Request For Help

A figure strolled out from behind a building. Taking a closer look, Grey realized the person is only a Sixth stage Sovereign, what he could not understand was how he managed to sneak up this close to him without him realizing it.

The clothings of the Sixth stage Sovereign who just appeared did not have any insignia. Over the past few months, Grey has come to realize that each member of the Twilight Faction are proud of their Faction and would almost always want everyone to know they were from the Twilight Faction.

“Who are you?” Grey asked, not worried about this person seeing him.

The Sixth stage Sovereign did not speak, only staring at Grey.

Seeing that this Sixth stage Sovereign did not want to speak, Grey did not force him, rather, he turned to leave. He had already taken the core, which was his aim of coming here in the first place.

The Sixth stage Sovereign watched Grey as he turned to leave. In a panic, the Sixth stage Sovereign rushed after him, silently following behind him.

Leaving the Manor, Grey did not head back to the room he rented, rather, taking the time to explore the City. This City might not be as big as Raging Flames City, but it was by no means small.

An hour later.

Grey stopped at a quiet alley before asking in frustration, “You’re not a member of the Twilight Faction, why are you following me?”

Over the past hour since he left the Manor, he had tried to shake this Sixth stage Sovereign off his back, but he unfortunately had not been able to. Even when he used his space element, this guy has a way of locating him still, which he found very odd. The reason he knew this is not from the Twilight Faction is none other than the fact that even after one hour, the two Peak Sovereigns he sensed still had not come to attack him. If this guy was from the Twilight Faction, given how they were sparing no effort to locate him, the two Peak Sovereigns would be here already.

“I need your help.” The man spoke up, his voice calm as he looked at Grey, seemingly curiously studying him.

Being observed in such a manner made Grey a little uncomfortable, “I have no reasons to help you. Stop following me if you do not want to end up dead.”

The man was taken aback by Grey’s blatant refusal to help, he did not even ask what he needed help with, just straight up rejection. Grey’s refusal almost made him choke on his words, but he still spoke up after a while, “I know about the cores, and I would like to request your help with removing the one plaguing my Tribe.”

“What are you talking about?” Grey raised a brow, a bit unclear of the situation.

“The core you removed from the Affinity Stone, if I’m not mistaken there is one like that in my Tribe.” The man explained, moving closer he continued, “I have been investigating matters relating to this core for a few years now and neither I nor anyone else has been able to remove them. I started investigating them ever since and got some leads that have led me to a few places with the same cores…”

Grey listened to the man’s explanation with a blank expression. Of course, he did not believe a word this guy was saying, if not for the fact that he knew this guy had not tried to contact anyone since the guy started following him, he would not even give him listening ears. Fighting a Peak Sovereign is not something he wanted to do at the moment, much less two Peak Sovereigns.

According to the man, about fifty years ago, he discovered a strange anomaly in their Tribe. He is the Tribe’s arraymaster, not just that, but his Spiritual Sense is stronger than a normal Sixth stage Sovereign, even most Ninth stage Sovereigns’ Spiritual Sense is not as powerful as his own. Thanks to his strong Spiritual Sense, he was able to sense the threads just like Grey did back at the McCall Manor. Unfortunately, he had no means to cut it off. He started investigating things regarding this matter since then and has amassed quite a bit of knowledge about it.

He was an invited guest in the Manor Grey just took the core from, and he came investigating this matter. So when he sensed Grey head straight to the Affinity Stone in such a sneaky manner, he knew Grey might know something about the cores, never in his wildest dreams would he have thought that Grey could remove these cores.

Seeing it with his eyes, he was left dumbfounded and also filled with hope. He has not been able to make a breakthrough in tens or even well over a hundred years. Not just him, but most of the people who got to the Sixth stage of the Sovereign Plane in his Tribe are stuck there. As long as Grey could follow him back to his Tribe, he would be able to free them of this curse.

Hearing the man speak about the core surprised Grey. He did not think the reason this man was following him was because he could remove the cores hidden under the Affinity Stones. Thinking of it, if he were in the same position and saw someone that could help, he would naturally try to see if he could invite the person back to the Tribe, even if not for the others, but for his personal growth.

While speaking, the man studied Grey’s expression all through to see if he could use that to at least get a glimpse of what Grey was thinking, but to his shock, no matter what he said, the latter had the same blank expression, seemingly unphased by whatever he was hearing.

The man knew interacting with people like this is always difficult, especially given the fact that they were not acquainted prior to this.
