The very moment I thought of how annoying the creatures around me are, I was yet another time wrecked by a giant bear, that rammed me into the air, with a wolf hanging on my back, trying to bite my neck.
Unfortunately for him, my skin was too tough for his teeth. I tried to grab him and threw while still flying, but I couldn't, which annoyed the hell out of me. As I smacked into the ground, and bounced off, spinning like a little tornado, I used telekinesis, to yeet that thing into the air, without any success.
- Fuck! - I yelled, crashing into another stone.
I tried quickly to create a bubble out of void essence, to block the horde of animals from piling up on me, but those damn things could pass through it! I evacuated using 'Shadow walk', with few new claw marks.
I couldn't attack them, but they could attack me, that was now as plain as day. I tried using fire magic again, but my fireball vanished in the air, but the strike of bad news continued, as Leshy started another incantation.
I soon found out what he had in store for me, as I could only run around. This time all the vegetation around literally came to life with one purpose in its existence, to hunt me down. In a desperate attempt to do something, while trying to stick to the stone formation as much as I could, to not set my foot on the ground for obvious reasons, I created a ball of pure mana in my hand, and just threw it at the boss.
He got blasted so badly, that ended up rolling on the ground.
- In your face! - I yelled in victory.
Now I at least had something that worked. My triumph wasn't long though, as a bolt of freaking lightning struck me the very moment. For a second my mind went blank. I woke up out of the stone formation with my muscles twitching painfully. The roots and vines were covering my legs and arms, but a burst of fire was enough to deal with those.
I ripped the charred vegetation, and immediately shadow walked to avoid the horde of spirits. Electricity was still running through my body, but unfortunately, I didn't gain super speed. At least not more super compared to the one I already possessed.
I had nothing better than raw mana to work with, so I continued throwing it sporadically at the boss while avoiding everything else. Eventually, I took him down, but it was hard and took a long time.
It was the toughest fight I had after The Invasion, and also the most boring one. The good thing was, I finally realized that I need more options to work with. I needed to invest in the classes and skills I ignored. 'Telekinesis' was one of them. There was also 'Raw mana manipulation' since I just proved how useful that one was.
I emerged from the forest, with the boss crystal in my hand, to find bored Ki'rai making flower crowns out of boredom. She was sitting on the ground, completely focused on the work.
- Wow, those are very pretty - I said.
- You want one? - she asked, grabbing a complete product of the ground, and extending a hand with it towards me.
I kneeled down after coming closer and put it on my head, sticking my weapon in the ground and dropping the gem.
- You should wear some clothes too - she said.
Then I realized I was completely naked again.
- Fuck!
She giggled and collected the rest of the flowers. I tried to cover myself a little and ended up haphazardly wrapping one of the backpacks carried by my shadows around my waist. I ended up having to hold it since we couldn't pack all the crystals into the remaining ones.
Then we returned, and I had e moment when I paraded through the city center, but naked, with a flower crown over my head. That was something people wouldn't forget for a while.
I bought new clothes after selling the crystals for 6 921 000 points and then picked up Will and others from the canyon. They slaughtered both orcs and the harpies. Not without problems, though.
They needed a little break, so I just jumped to the bear forest, to kill the boss, and after returning took them to the lizardfolk settlement.
I still had a good half of a day to work with and decided to take Ki'rai to the spider territory after replenishing some mana in the device. She was spooked a bit by the creatures and the webs. I ended up burning them with their webs and sending my shadows to pick up the crystals, while I left her alone, to drop the anchor further, so she wouldn't end up cooked during the journey past the destroyed area.
I shadow walked to my original anchor, and took her to the one placed further, then picked it up. The next part of the territory was also covered in webs, but upon getting closer I found out that these ones were different. Silver in coloration, and more like metal strings than normal spider threads.
Now I had an answer to the question of why those didn't burn.
- I don't like this place - said Ki'rai.
- Mee too, but we need crystals, and especially class points.
She sighed, and I flicked the web. There was a sound to it, that traveled through all the intricate construction deeper into the territory, carrying the noise.
- Now watch out. Try to stay at the back lines. We will be stormed by the spiders...
She stepped back as far as she could after my words and very soon witnessed that I was indeed right, as the threads started shaking way more than after my little flick. Soon big shadows appeared here and there, dancing behind the silverish curtain.
The numbers grew each second.. I activated my skills and, again, set my blade on fire.
