- No - said Yagg. - There is no way I'm letting you hurt him before the fight.

He was very calm and firm in his words.

- Are you siding with them?! Are you siding with humans?! You were supposed to be an arm to make our wishes happen. You were to deliver the punishment! - the young Calludin snapped and raised his voice as he spoke spitting everywhere out of emotions.

- That's exactly why I won't let you touch him. I was the one entrusted with this man by the High Queen and our people. I'm the one who decides what is fit to happen to him, and what is not. I'm not here to fix mistakes you made due to your idiocy. I told you that your decision was not only pure stupidity but also completely out of the line. You ruined a very intricate plan many put together into life, and now you dare to have such demands? Get out of my sight.

The young Calludin's psychic powers penetrated the air around us both, but they were shut off immediately when Yagg reacted. He just crushed them, and not only that. He stretched Jordd's body like a string without even trying, blocking his breathing, and completely freezing him in space.

- I'm gonna ignore your behavior, and pretend it never happened due to the respect I have towards your father, but you will leave this planet after the second match and never show yourself in front of me.

With those words, he let go of him, and the young man almost collapsed on the ground. He threw me a glare full of hate, like I was the one responsible for everything that happened, and then drifted off, leaving us two alone. We waited patiently for him to disappear in the distance.

- The gift you received came in handy. You finally could hear and understand what I have to deal with - said Yagg.

I just smiled.

- Those who never had to work to achieve greatness, and were gifted part of it for nothing, often tend to not value it at all, and behave like this. It hurts me when I see what has become of our race.

- Wealth without responsibility degenerates people - I said to him. - I've seen it on earth too. The same is with power. People need values in their lives, so they have some moral compass.

He just looked at me, and without a word continued moving forward towards the gate. I could see it in the distance. A bright point ahead of us, as it was opened. A massive grey alien with horns on the sides of his head, and spikes all over his exposed back. He was armed with a shield, which for me looked more like a wall full of sharp blades, and a quite familiar energy ax in his hand.

- Don't let him hit you - said Yagg as we got close and he could clearly see my opponent. - I need you alive.

With those words, he turned around and left. I observed him getting further and further in the dark corridor, then sighed, and finally entered the arena.

My opponent immediately screamed at me. It was defeating and unpleasant. The sound was just too irritating for my ears. He didn't wait for me to even get closer and immediately rushed forward trying to ram into me with his shield. I ducked to the side and tumbled on the sand, to quickly pick myself up, and run around. He tried to follow, but I just increased my speed to the point he couldn't.

Somebody booed me from the stands above, but I ignored that, trying my best to focus on the enemy. I didn't have a weapon and I already have seen what those energy weapons could do, so I didn't want to get hit by that, especially when I couldn't heal myself or immediately jump to one of the saplings, to use their powers to get back to perfect health.

I would much rather wait for an opportunity, keeping a safe distance, even if that meant somebody up above would show their dissatisfaction. They were not in the sandpit risking their lives, so fuck them.

I used the time to assess his physiology a bit, so I could at least somehow read his moves, and that gave me an idea of what to do.

The alien closed the distance slowly, with a shield low to the ground to block me from attacking, and the ax at the ready to strike. It was kinda frustrating because if I could use shadow walk such a tactic would be completely useless towards me, but I couldn't, and I was very much used to doing it.

I faked a charge, circling around, then quickly changed the direction getting closer. He froze in his place, just focusing on keeping the shield between me and him, waiting for a chance to kill me with one swing.

I ran all the way to him practically jumping from left to right like a moron, but I needed to keep him on his toes, unable to predict the angle. He betted his attack on his ability to read my movement and failed, as I ducked down and grabbed his shield.

He swung it, to shake me off, as he had the advantage of mass, but that was actually something I wanted. I used it to get underneath and jump at him from the inside of the protective wall, just to deliver a powerful blow straight to his balls.

I know, ok? Pathetic move. But it worked, so I don't give a shit. The alien just collapsed on his back unable to do anything. I won, but I still got booed by the audience above. I showed them the middle finger, but I doubt they even understood my gesture and left the arena.

Yagg waited for me back in the darkness of the corridor.

- Pathetic - he said.

- I don't care. I didn't get hit, and the kid is going to live, so the end of trouble.

- Maybe for you, and only for now - he said, and started walking back.
