Bashan suggested to me quite clearly that he does not want to touch on the content of our yesterday's argument, by not mentioning a thing to Druoag, which quite obviously indicated that the former champion had no idea about anything.
For a moment I thought even about bringing it all up and having the argument right then and there, but then I decided to play it easy. Maybe there was something I could use for myself in this? In the and, I was just sitting there with my eyes stuck in the small frame of the old man.
The ship accelerated quite a bit, which was a sign that the distance to wherever we were going was rather big. Overall we traveled for almost two hours, before landing on a specially prepared spot with a small control tower to regulate the flow of incoming ships, and there were quite a number of those. I could see them through the small window, all waiting in midair for the moment to land.
I could also see a massive complex of small and quite big, but still flat and only one level tall buildings with a lot of water running through it all in special channels. There were many pools there. Some looked quite deep, others were obviously shallow and more decorative.
Everything seemed to be made out of sandstone, but that obviously was not true. It just looked this way to me.
Eventually, we landed and left the ship to join a long line of guests heading towards the estate, with Vazasse himself awaiting at the entrance to greet everybody.
The day was nice and hot, especially in whatever part of the planet we ended up. There were tall buildings on the horizon surrounding everything, but as I said they were fair, and the place we ended up was clearly cut off the city shenanigans.
He was standing in the middle of a large gate, with a long red rug covered in flower petals. Shaling hands, and exchanging other strange gestures depending on whoever he was greeting. He had a small entourage of three females of his own race, just surrounding him in silence. They were much smaller than him and looked way more delicate compared to his massive size.
He was wearing a red robe covering mostly his loin region, with a single sash over one shoulder with a golden brooch on it. The females had similar clothing, which covered much more, in three different colors, green, blue, and orange.
I noticed Yagg ahead of us, slowly levitating in line to be greeted by the host, and get inside the estate.
There was a lot of whispering involved, and people glanced at one another, but nothing compared to the attention both the Calludin and former champion of the Royal Tournament received from everybody. Still, they all waited to get inside before even attempting to talk to those individuals.
It took several minutes for Tagg and Vazasse to meet. The host seemed to be genuinely honored by the appearance of a guest of such a status. they talked for a few seconds before one of the female Bimuwa escorted him personally inside.
Shortly after it was our turn, and two massive aliens greeted themselves first with a vice-like shake of hands. You could see the muscles on both of their arms tense when they wrapped fingers around each other's palms. The former champion also got escorted by one of the female crocks inside.
Then Bashan's turn came, but this greeting was quite brief, and the old man just moved inside.
- Congratulations - said Vazasse when my turn came. - I know my fans were a bit of a nuisance to you lately, and after our match, it only got worse, so I would like to officially apologize. I already did a press conference to point out that the outcome of our fight was unfortunately a mistake on my part. I hope to officially talk with your side about a rematch that all of the fans very much would like to see. This time I'm gonna do my best.
- Yeah... Good to see you - I squeezed out awkwardly. - Let's talk inside.
He then with a wide gesture invited me in. I noticed he ignored the three Atri, who was following me and focused on the next guest.
Behind the gate, there was around a hundred meters long walk to the first of many buildings, among the flowers surrounding it on both sides in mounds of several conditions. All of those plants seemed tropical and were very colorful. Sadly there were also tons of bugs there.
The walk was ending with a twelve-step staircase with servants waiting on both sides, just like the mounds. All wearing fancy clothes, and repeating the inviting gestures for every single guest to get inside.
I could also hear the faint music coming from there. It was similar to the piece Vazasse used for his entrance ceremony. Arabic belly dancers immediately appeared in my mind.
I climbed the stairs and went into the building to witness musicians playing the instruments in the middle of the room, and waiters walking around with silver trays filled with drinks. People were scooping those and slowly sipping while having conversations in small groups.
I didn't see any of my guys there, but further ahead was a large set of doors, leading outside, so I headed straight there, to search for Bashan, and finally get some answers.
I reached a small plaza with a shallow pool filled with crystal clear blue water in the middle. It was slightly shimmering in the sun. You could hear it running through the canals around, hidden among the colorful plants. Crowds of unknown to me aliens were everywhere, and most of them seemed to know one another.
I passed by them, curiously looking around to find anybody whom I knew, since I didn't really know what to do, and needed a bit of guidance. The perfect pick would be Bashan because I wanted answers, but Druoag could also work.
