Are You Crazy? You’re Telling Me This Is a Fugitive TV Show?
Chapter 35 Escape, System Reward, Counterattack Begins“Hahaha, this is too funny! Is Big Brother actually performing surgery on a patient? How on earth are you planning to find him?”
“Imagine Wang Yun, dressed in full surgical attire, conducting surgery in the operating room. You could dig up the entire hospital and still wouldn’t be able to find him.”
“Utter domination. This is nothing short of a masterclass in evasion. Wang Yun is truly extraordinary.”

In the command center’s livestream, a barrage of comments flooded the screen. The viewers couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for Zhang Xingchen at this moment.
Is Zhang Xingchen incompetent? No, the problem lay with Wang Yun’s almost otherworldly ingenuity.
Who could have foreseen a fugitive like Wang Yun performing surgery on a patient inside a hospital operating room? And most astonishingly, he managed to do so without even alerting the chief surgeon.
“Our Captain Zhang Xingchen is on the brink of a meltdown. I’m genuinely confused. Where could Wang Yun possibly be?” Shen Hao sympathetically glanced at Zhang Xingchen before directing his gaze toward the other four team leaders.
“Exactly! How can someone just vanish into thin air? Surveillance footage confirms that Wang Yun was definitely inside the hospital. We’ve combed through every nook and cranny, how could he just disappear?” Liu Qingqing added, her face etched with disbelief.
“To be honest, I’m at a loss as to how he managed to evaporate out of sight so suddenly,” Wu Mingyu said as he sat up straight, adjusting his glasses, his face awash with perplexity. He shook his head, looking toward the other captains.“This Wang Yun is not as straightforward as we thought. He’s more than just physically exceptional,” Hong Feng solemnly declared, sketching something in front of him.
Initially, he had thought Wang Yun was just a highly capable individual with some minor tricks up his sleeve. Now, it appeared that Wang Yun was far more intelligent and formidable than he had presumed.
“If even you seasoned captains are stumped about his whereabouts, then I feel a bit better. My pride can take a little less of a beating,” Zhang Xingchen said, rubbing his face bitterly.
“Xingchen, there’s no shame in a man shedding tears. Even the strongest among us have moments of weakness,” Shen Hao suddenly broke into song from his nearby position.
“Save the tears for when we get back, crying now would be too embarrassing,” Zhang Xingchen said, waving his hand dismissively.
Even with Shen Hao’s attempts to lighten the mood, Zhang Xingchen found no amusement.

“Hahaha, poor Zhang Xingchen, almost reduced to tears from getting outplayed.”
“So much for ‘four surpassing three.’ Got another reality check, didn’t you?”
“I peeked into Wang Yun’s livestream. He was actually performing surgery in an operating room. Who would’ve thought? Can’t blame Captain Xingchen for not catching him. Frankly, none of the other captains would have either.”
“If you can’t catch him, don’t celebrate too soon. All that boasting, only to get humbled each time, haha.”
“Zhang Xingchen and his elite team love to toot their own horns. Saomao got humbled, and now Chen Minghao is forced to swallow his pride. I wonder what their next move will be.”
In the command center’s livestream, a flurry of comments filled the screen. Some viewers seemed to relish Zhang Xingchen and his team’s misfortunes, especially the arrogance displayed by his elite team members.
So, what came of it? Their inflated egos were deflated, their faces slapped.
“Captain, what do we do now?” Inside the command center, a voice tinged with bitterness came from the speakers. It was Saomao.
They were at a loss. Defeated once more, and this time utterly so.
“Return,” Zhang Xingchen sighed softly.
“Understood,” Saomao nodded.
After scouring the entire hospital and finding no sign of Wang Yun, it seemed he had already left. The twelve members of the investigative team shared a glance and walked out, faces bitter, returning empty-handed.
“He’s become alert to the surveillance, capturing him next time is going to be much more challenging,” Leng Ming commented, sipping his tea inside the command center room.
“How did my team end up with such a monster?” Zhang Xingchen’s face was a mixture of helplessness and anguish.
While others were subduing fugitives, he was constantly getting duped by one fugitive. It was disheartening.
“Calm yourself. The first attribute of a good police inspector is composure. Only with a clear mind can you effectively apprehend criminals. Some officers spend days analyzing a single case through surveillance footage alone,” Jiang Youshan cautioned Zhang Xingchen, then continued serenely, “Can you fathom a police officer dedicating seven or eight years just to crack a single case? Or one who stays awake for three days straight, foregoing food and sleep, just to capture a killer?”
“Sir, I understand. I’ll strive to be an effective captain for the investigation team,” Zhang Xingchen responded, visibly moved. He nodded firmly and said, “If I can’t catch him in a day, then it will take ten days, or even twenty. Whatever it takes, I, Zhang Xingchen, will make sure he’s going to be arrested.”
Jiang Youshan nodded approvingly. “It’s good to be confident.”

“Haha, Captain Zhang should be careful about making bold claims. He’s been proven wrong multiple times already.”
“Boasting is just asking to be humbled.”
The online viewers watched this unfold and couldn’t help but laugh.
Meanwhile, Wang Yun was unaware of the spectacle unraveling in the command center room.
Three hours later at the hospital, the surgery was completed successfully. Professor Yin set down his instruments and, with an approving look, turned to Wang Yun, “You did exceptionally well. What is your name?”
“I’m Wang Yun, Professor Yin. Excuse me, I really need to visit the restroom,” Wang Yun replied with a smile.
“Ah, very well, Wang Yun. I’ll mention your name to Director Song. Feel free to drop by my office later,” said Professor Yin, smiling back.
“Certainly, Professor Yin,” Wang Yun nodded. Under the envious gazes of three other young men and women, he was the first to exit the operating room.
‘Ding! Congratulations, host. You’ve successfully completed the escape mission and have earned a random god-level skill reward!’
‘Ding! Congratulations, host. You’ve acquired the god-level skill–Lock Picking.’
As he stepped out of the operating room, the system notification chimed in, bringing a smile to his face.
‘Ding! New system task: Retaliation. As a criminal mastermind, anyone attempting to apprehend you will face my retaliation. Rewards are contingent on task completion. Cannot be refused. Failure will result in a penalty of two million shock value points.’
All of a sudden, the system issued another task. Upon hearing it, Wang Yun was momentarily taken aback, his eyes shining.
Retaliation? Things just got interesting.
