Celestial Bloodline

Chapter 901: Are you both done?

Chapter 901: Are you both done?

Kyle let the gloomy darkness around him devour his life force, offering it as much as it demanded. The pain was excruciating, of course—but he had grown far stronger now and could endure it without losing his mind.

In fact, the more intense the pain from the law became, the more exhilarated he felt—because if it demanded this much just to give its name, then it had to be powerful.

Very, very powerful.

A law that demanded pain, sacrifice, and unwavering will just to grasp its essence… was undoubtedly worth mastering.

Kyle’s eyes trembled, yet he laughed.

The pain and agony weren’t in vain—they were proof that he was drawing closer.

Closer to grasping something incredible.

A law powerful enough to destroy worlds… or remake them. If he could survive this, he would surely become powerful once again.

It was a good thing he had taken traces of this eerie yet powerful law from Avalon—so he could study and master it in the future.

But just as he felt he was on the verge of finding the name of the law devouring him, a familiar voice broke his concentration.

“What are you doing?!”

Kyle’s gaze trembled—not from agony, but from frustration—as he turned and noticed Cassian’s consciousness within the space.

What the hell?

How did this man manage to get in here?

Kyle had forced the natural law to drag him into its domain so he could learn it! Did this jerk really take advantage of his efforts and sneak in here as well? His teeth clenched.

The strain of enduring the law’s torment was already enough—now he had to deal with this unwanted man’s interference too?

Damn it.

One wrong move, and everything he had grasped so far could slip away like sand!

Gritting his teeth, he growled.

“Leave! I’m in the middle of something!”

But Cassian didn’t back off. Actually, the darkness looming around Kyle had muffled his voice, so Cassian couldn’t hear a word.

“What? Your consciousness is scattering, and your life force is being devoured! If we stay here any longer, we will both end up as nourishment for this eerie dark law!”

Kyle, who had barely closed his eyes again, had his concentration shattered once more.

His irritation boiled over.

With a snarl, he hurled a wave of darkness in Cassian’s direction just to shut him up.

“I’m a freaking 4th-stage Celestial! I have enough life force not to die—now get lost!”

Cassian’s eyes widened at the sudden surge of darkness hurled his way. He had come here to save Kyle, yet that bastard was attempting to drown Cassian in it?

And, of course, thanks to the oppressive darkness muffling his voice, he still hadn’t caught a word of what Kyle was saying.

“This prick… I am over a thousand years older than him, and yet he is been getting on my nerves since day one!”

With a sudden surge of power—whether from instinct or sheer willpower—Cassian lunged forward and grabbed Kyle’s leg.

Kyle’s gaze darkened.

“Let go! Are you insane?!”

And yet—Cassian laughed.

He didn’t know why he found this… so, so amusing, especially when the pain he was in was so intense it felt like he was dying.

How long had it been since he felt this light? This… okay? While in pain, no less.

Kyle kicked him, but he refused to let go.

Kyle cursed in frustration.

This bastard was wasting his time!

He should have finished him off when he had the chance instead of treating him like a normal Celestial! That way, he could have simply avoided this entire mess!

Thus began a chaotic, almost comical struggle in the heart of the darkness—one cursing and frantically trying to break free to grasp the law just within reach, and the other laughing as he did everything in his power to drag him along back to reality.

Kyle had had enough. He snapped.

In a burst of fury, all his power erupted outward, blasting everything around him.

The shockwave sent Cassian flying—but in the process, Kyle also ended up destroying the darkness he had been trying to master.

That was exactly why he’d told Cassian he was strong enough—strong enough to pour his life force into the law devouring him and still come out unscathed after learning it.

His furious gaze shifted to Cassian, who had been flung far by the blast. The man’s consciousness was half-erased, yet he still had the audacity to laugh like a madman!

“You’re dead! Know that, you’re dead!”

He disappeared toward him, fist raised to strike—but just before Kyle could, Cassian extended a closed hand toward him. In his palm, hovering quietly, was a wisp of dark tendril—a fragment of the very force that had been devouring them moments ago.

It floated serenely, radiating a dense aura brimming with condensed knowledge, as if it were fed up with them and had chosen to grant them the right to comprehend it.

Somehow, it had ended up in Cassian’s hand when he was thrown back.

“You’re the insane one…”

Cassian muttered, eyes gleaming.

“Grasping death itself?”

He laughed—half in awe, half in disbelief. He had lost a lot of power, but if he gained something this powerful in return… well, it wasn’t such a bad trade after all. With that thought, his consciousness started to fade.

Kyle snatched the tendril above his palm before dragging them both back to reality.

“Who told you to interfere, huh? Couldn’t you have just stayed outside and waited? I would’ve been done in a minute! Then, we could’ve continued our conversation.”

He snapped, his voice sharp.

“Don’t go blaming me now. If you had just left when I asked, I wouldn’t have ended up wiping out half of your consciousness.”

Atop the mountain, Kyle finally opened his eyes, an eerie glow flickering within them.

He had already absorbed the knowledge contained within the tendril he’d snatched from Cassian—adding a new color to his Celestial Lake: an eerie shade of death.

Finally, spotting Cassian’s unconscious body lying next to him, he let out a scoff.

The man was likely suffering from the massive damage to his consciousness.

Before Cassian could even open his eyes, Kyle kicked the man off the mountain.

“Remember, you had the nerve to call me a thief before, but you’re no better. Be grateful—you gained a powerful law thanks to me!”

Cassian coughed, barely managing to open his eyes. Still reeling from the backlash, he steadied his falling body before it could fall any farther—and looked up with a smirk.

“Tch. I came to save your life and ended up stealing enlightenment. How noble of me.”

Kyle rolled his eyes. This jerk still had the strength to taunt him? Even so, he couldn’t ignore the genuine smile on Cassian’s face. At least, it was better than the broken one.

“Next time, don’t try to play the hero.”

“You are very terrible at it.”

Cassian raised a brow.

Him? Playing the hero? What a joke.

Everything he did was for amusement.

He winced as he stood up. Yet before he could tell Kyle he was no hero, a familiar, heavy voice echoed from behind them.

“Are you both done?”

Both of them stiffened. Only then did they notice the destruction they’d caused while comprehending the natural law of death.

The mountain they sat on had been completely drained of life—ruined.

And now, Clan Leader Ares stood at its edge, looking every bit like a grim reaper.

Behind Ares, Silver, Gvette, and all the remaining clan members were floating.

Even without being told, both Kyle and Cassian could tell—they were all placing bets on whether the two of them would survive the day or perish under Ares.
