Chapter 1332: Battle formation

Chapter 1332: Battle formation

Khan’s forces didn’t only focus on repairing his ship and amassing supplies for the labor. Some teams had worked on rearranging and sorting out anything they had gathered after the two alien scouts’ appearance, which wasn’t small.

Of course, the outpost didn’t have the best scanners, and they couldn’t gather much since the two aliens quickly chased after Khan.

Khan had also fried his ship’s scanners before the violent landing, rendering them unable to record the battle. However, the chase had featured a third party that had never stopped following him.

Wayne’s ship didn’t have the same limitations as Khan’s vessel, and he had flown after Khan throughout the chase. Wayne didn’t overclock his engines, making him miss a piece of the battle, but his scanners did capture its final phases.

In regular times, Khan would have immediately released every available footage to add proof to his claim. Still, the Scalet Eyes’ threat was greater than anything the regulated universe was willing to believe.

So, Khan had put his soldiers on the task, making them rearrange everything they could to create an undeniable proof featuring all kinds of details. The footage had to be irrefutable and as complete as possible to force the universe to believe him.

Something was inevitably missing, but Khan had confirmed his soldiers had highlighted a key aspect. The footage would show the alien scouts’ effects on the mana, telling everyone what would happen once the Scarlet Eyes decided to attack the regulated universe.

Liiza’s labor had delayed Khan’s plans to spread the footage far and wide, but that meeting had provided him with a better use for it. He could give it to the Niqols as a show of trust and use it as leverage.

After all, those minor squabbles lost any meaning when the literal enemy of the mana was inbound. Everything else had to take the backseat before that, and Khan was ready to bet on it.

Savdat realized how a proper footage of the Scarlet Eyes’ battle prowess would act as a turning point in Khan’s call to arms.

The Elder also understood why most species, especially the Niqols, would listen to it. The mana was a core part of their societies, and many even had it from birth, making them natural enemies of that mysterious aggressor.

Isolation would only put the regulated universe in a worse fighting position. It might make a species safer in the short run, only for its absence in the inevitable war to lead to a defeat, leaving it alone against that fearsome opponent.

Savdat immediately accepted that Khan’s offer could work, but that created new problems. If the Niqols truly had to help in what promised itself to be a universal war, their roles had to be clear.

"[What do you propose]?" Savdat questioned.

"[A ceasefire]," Khan announced, "[Until the Scarlet Eyes are defeated and the war is over]."

A joint war on top of a ceasefire could bring many benefits to the Niqols, and Khan didn’t hesitate to speak again to explain them in more detail.

"[This war will involve many species]," Khan added, "[And more will join it once it becomes undeniable. The Niqols will have plenty of opportunities to show their capabilities and restore their reputation in the eyes of the entire universe]."

No matter the day and age, battle prowess was the most crucial aspect of any species. Everything stemmed and existed because of it, and the war against the Scarlet Eyes could allow the Niqols to seize the spotlight.

"[Also]," Khan continued. "[The Niqols would be able to accept anything I offer as a payment for their involvement in the war. They’d be able to reap benefits without sacrificing their pride]."

That point tackled exactly what Savdat was worried about. Khan’s gifts wouldn’t be seen as charity anymore in that instance. They would become rewards and mandatory payments.

Everything could work, especially since Savdat was almost sure the Niqols would be the first to receive the footage. That fact alone would improve their reputation, but problems remained.

"[And what role would the Niqols have to perform in this war]?" Savdat questioned. "[Do you expect us to be in the frontlines to reap glory to fix what you broke]?"

"[That place belongs to me]," Khan promptly corrected. "[I’m the most suited to be on the frontlines. The Scarlet Eyes will probably look for me anyway, so I’d rather show myself right away]."

Khan then scratched his head, lifting his gaze in thought while lying deeply in Snow’s feathers.

"[As for the others]," Khan muttered, "[The Thilku, my Scalqa, and the Ef’i will probably want the vanguard no matter what. They are suited for it, so they can join me there]."

Khan lifted a hand, counting with the help of his fingers. "[The Kros and Fuveall will take over anything tech-related, and humankind will act as a jolly, helping wherever it can]."

The blue light returned to Savdat at that point.

"[I figured the Niqols and Nele could deal with potions and anything medical]," Khan revealed. "[You and them understand the mana better than anyone else, so I’d also have you research the Scarlet Eyes to find countermeasures]."

Khan crossed his arms, diverting his gaze again while reviewing his previous words. He felt he had forgotten someone, and that name eventually popped into his mind.

"[Ah, right]!" Khan exclaimed. "[I also have plans for the Orlats. Ideally, I’d put them in charge of communications, espionage, and deliveries. Still, I haven’t got the chance to talk to them yet]."

Savdat had to admit Khan’s arrangement made perfect sense. It was also quite shocking how a single man could have access to so many species at such a young age.

However, clearly, Khan was no man. He was far more, and Savdat had sensed that as soon as he entered that artificial cold environment.

"[What happens if we win and some species use the following confusion to expand their domains]?" Savdat wondered.

Wars were messy, and the divisions among species would return once the common enemy was defeated, which could lead to internal battles for territory and control.

"[They burn]," Khan casually said. "[Their warriors burn, their planets burn, and the very memory of their species burns. Is that enough for insurance]?"
