Chapter 298: Elder Qing
Xia creased her brows, feeling a dull pain echo through her body as she slept. The uncomfortable sensation on her body paired with the heavenly smell entering her nostrils forced her awake.
Upon opening her eyes, Xia saw her two fellow disciples Shen and Chen with wide smiles chatting to someone unfamiliar. Her daze lasted only a few moments before she suddenly remembered what had happened.
“Y-You…” Xia felt blood rush to her head as she saw the man who had just beaten her up.
Just as her aura was rising, Shen and Chen quickly stopped what they were doing and appeared next to her, holding her back.
“Senior sister, please calm down.” Shen said, doing his best to keep her in place.
“Let me go! This bastard deserves to die” Xia said through gritted teeth.
At these words, a flash of anger appeared in Jayce’s eyes for a moment before his expression became scary. He stared at the rude woman who had broken into his new home acting as if she was so high and mighty.
These actions reminded him of the aliens which had invaded Earth, treating him and his friends as if they were nothing more than ants.
This was something that Jayce would not tolerate. The only reason he had held back before was because he was in a new environment and did not wish to piss off anyone so soon after arriving.
“It seems I was a little too light handed previously.” Jayce said, his tone ice cold.
Black flames suddenly started to ignite upon Jayce, painting a scary sight. It looked as if he had just emerged from the fiery depths of hell as he slowly made his way closer to Xia and the other two holding her back.
Upon seeing black flames, the trio shuddered as a feeling of dread began to overcome them.
However, a few tense moments, Jayce recalled his flames and headed back over to his makeshift kitchen. Although the other three were perplexed, they breathed a sigh of relief nonetheless.
Xia felt a cold sweat run down her back as she stared at the man she had been about to fight. It was only now that she realized that he had been holding back before, which was why she had only sustained minor injuries.
’But why did he back off?’ She thought, not understanding his actions.
Her question was answered not long later when a figure descended from the sky and appeared in the courtyard. It was a man who looked in his early thirties with a short beard and angular eyes wearing a dark red robe.
“Disciple greets Elder Qing.” The three Core Disciples bowed upon seeing the man, showing their respect immediately.
Jayce had already noticed the man’s presence which was why he backed down. Judging from the aura he was unconsciously emitting, he could tell that this man was at least in the Nascent Soul realm.
Since he was a reasonable person, Jayce cupped his fists and bowed politely.
“Greetings Elder. Forgive me for my lack of manners, I have just arrived at the sect a couple of hours ago.” He said politely.
The man named Elder Qing inspected the young man in front of him in silence for a few moments before nodding his head in appreciation.
“Sect Master has already briefed me on who you are Jayce, there’s no need to stand on ceremony.” The Elder’s voice was deep yet soothing, filling one with a sense of comfort.
Jayce breathed out a sigh of relief internally. If the Sect Master had already spoken to this Elder, then he shouldn’t have to answer any tough questions in front of the other disciples.
He was still worried that his sketchy back story would be picked apart.
Elder Qing sniffed the air and his lips turned up in a smile. He looked at Jayce expectantly, as if waiting for him to invite him to a meal.
Even though he was on another planet, Jayce had seen this kind of face before. He stifled a laugh and asked the Elder if he would care to join them for breakfast.
Of course Elder Qing agreed and not long later was busily digging into the sumptuous breakfast prepared by the best Chef on Earth. Technically Jayce didn’t have much competition, however he still held that title.
Xia saw the Elder digging into the food and couldn’t help but feel her mouth watering. Out of her expectation, a loud grumbling noise filled the air as she watched on, causing her face to turn a deep shade of red in embarrassment.
“Um, Fellow Disciple Jayce. Would you mind if your senior sister could have a bowl of your breakfast?” Seeing her look so pitiful and embarrassed, Chen couldn’t help but speak up on her behalf, causing her eyes to widen in anticipation.
She stared at Jayce pitifully, like a lose puppy that had chanced upon a hot meal for the night.
However, Jayce stared back at her with disdain, answering coldly. “I don’t feed those who have no respect for others. Even a dog knows not to bite those that are stronger than it.”
Xia’s face turned bright red, however this time it wasn’t from embarrassment, it was from anger. “Y-Y-You”
Yet before she could finish her words, she spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed on the floor, losing consciousness.
Elder Qing let out a small sigh, shaking his head a little.
“Shen, Chen, take Xia away. We’ll move our lecture to tomorrow so she has time to recover.”
“Yes Elder.” The two bowed promptly and said goodbye to Jayce before carrying the small woman through the air and out of the courtyard.
As soon as the three left, Elder Qing turned to Jayce and reevaluated him. He had heard from the Sect Master that this man was only 19 years of age, yet he was so strong already. He originally doubted his abilities, however seeing how easily he dealt with Xia had changed his mind.
The fact that he was already at the 5th tier in the Law of Fire was outstanding enough.
