Cursed Immortality

Chapter 835: The Wisp of Libra! (2)

835 The Wisp of Libra! (2)

The newcomer wore flowing golden archbishop robes and held a golden staff shining in golden light, illumining the chamber in its gentle light. Moreover, with his handsome face and long silver hair, he had the air of a benevolent saint.

His presence disrupted the balance of the chamber, and the Wisp of Libra tilted its head slightly as if acknowledging this unexpected arrival.

But the next moment, it looked back at Jacob, whose eyes flickered coldly when he saw the silver-haired man's appearance because he knew it was a Faery Human and a very powerful one at that.

Furthermore, his getup was exactly like the Cardinal Spirit Temple, if not slightly different. Jacob instantly knew that this Faery was either from another lesser galaxy or from the middle galaxies, and the chances of him being from the latter were much higher.

However, he didn't have time to entertain himself since the Wisp of Libra was completely unpredictable, like the Wisp of Capricorn, if not more. Although the Wisp of Libra hadn't attacked, it was speaking in cryptic words, which made Jacob even more uneasy. Especially after it asked that cryptic question, a strange power seemed to have locked onto him.

The Faery Human was an Archbishop of the Cardinal Spirit Temple named Otis. He had just entered and was shocked when he saw the hooded figure standing in front of the ghostly entity, the Wisp of Libra. Although he didn't know what was going on, he wasn't fooled, and he knew something had gone wrong.

Furthermore, he could feel an incomprehensible aura around the Wisp of Libra that didn't seem evil despite its appearance or good, which made Otis confused and wary. Otis suppressed the urge to attack and looked at Jacob because no matter how he saw it, Jacob clearly seemed in a fight with the Wisp of Libra and asked, "Sir, are you perhaps not part of the trial? Do you enter using the medallion? How about we work together?"

The tension between them crackled like static in the air as the Wisp of Libra observed silently, the scales on its hands slowly tilting, waiting to see how this new turn of events would unfold. It was like Libra was completely dismissive about Otis's appearance.

Jacob, on the other hand, became somewhat annoyed with Otis's bad timing. Not to mention, the staff in Otis's hand made him even more vexed because of the obvious reason for it being a Legendary Treasure. He was now 99% sure that Otis was from the middle galaxies.

Furthermore, Otis was a faery human, and he had an innate disgust for them, especially after not being able to solve the mystery behind his reincarnation despite getting rid of Sebastian. He might've not thought too much into it and considered it a freakish coincidence, but not after what happened at the end with Sebastian.

He knew someone from above was pulling Sebastian's strings and that someone might be the one he was looking for. The suspects at the top of his list were naturally the Faery Humans and the Cardinal Spirit Temple!

Now, Otis's appearance here means he was highly capable and probably held high status, but Jacob didn't want him here because he wouldn't be able to get answers from Wisp of Libra.

After all, he won't let this chance slip away because Libra was the only Wisp who had bothered to speak with him.

Without hesitation, Jacob decided to be deceived this time and used his full power to crush Otis. However, the moment he tried to channel his mana or move, his expression changed because he found himself stuck in his position by a mysterious power. He instantly looked at Wisp of Libra, who was still holding there like a statue.

But Jacob could sense Libra's gaze on him beyond that void-like blindfold, and a hint of fear rose up in his body because things were becoming extremely complicated really quickly. What made him even angrier was that there was a spectator!

Otis instantly sensed Jacob's killing intent and even felt a feeling of imminent death for a moment before it quickly vanished; it made him both frightened and confused since he knew his own capabilities, or he wouldn't have chosen the Star King difficulty trial.

"You want me to answer your question?" Jacob suddenly spoke at this moment. His voice was icy as he stared right into the Libra's face and continued, "Then my answer is simple. I seek neither balance nor imbalance; I only want to seek the Path of Immortality, and if your so-called balance gets in my way, then I'll destroy it if I have to!"

'A lunatic?!' Otis thought as if he had just heard something absurd. He wondered just how this lunatic was able to enter here despite the arrangement he had before entering and why he was even talking with that ghostly thing.

But for some reason, he didn't dare move, as if something deep within him didn't let him, especially after he sensed the aura of death for a moment. He knew something was not right, so he secretly started channeling soul force into his staff and was ready to make a move if he sensed even a sliver of danger.

However, both Jacob and Libra ignored him as if he didn't exist. Libra looked at Jacob without any words, while Jacob looked back, ready to spring into triggering his full power.

At this moment, Jacob suddenly felt the mysterious power on him vanish, and Libra's overbearing voice rang in his mind.

"%$#^@..."

'Not again!' Jacob knew he had gotten the acknowledgment he was looking for, but he was unwilling because he didn't get a chance to ask any questions from the wisp of Libra. When he sensed his entire surroundings changing, he knew the trial was over.

"W-what happened?!" Otis's confused yet astounded voice rang again.

But Otis instantly regretted speaking because, at this moment, he suddenly felt suffocating killing intent locked on him, and it was like he was at the bottom of an icy lake.

Otis was unaware of what kind of opportunity Jacob had missed because of him, and now he was going to pay!
