Death... and me

Chapter 3583: This Is It!

Chapter 3583: This Is It!

"Do you remember? The medallion information said it is a test of survival and courage. We understood the survival part, with all the traps and whatever. But what about the courage part?" Rean pointed out what they got from the Medallion. "Could this be it?"

"Well, maybe this place was also made so you would meet other Universes and fight them. Some could arrive here and create some traps and prepare ambushes and things like that," Celis also mentioned.

Roan quite liked the ambush idea. It was a good way of getting rid of more competitors that might appear later. Robbing them of their Spatial Rings would work pretty well. Those they just killed a while ago gave the twins’ group a huge amount of Divine Stones of Rank Seven and above for cultivation later.

However, Roan quickly gave up that idea and decided to give one of the passages a try. "Better not lose more time here."

Kentucky was happy to hear that and quickly went to the Black Colored passage. This should, in theory, be dedicated to the F955 Universe and their experts with Black Light on their chests. "Then let’s go!"

Of course, he didn’t just dash inside. He first threw one of his Feather Blades forward, watching if something would happen to it once it entered the Black Colored passage. The Feather Blade shot into the distance, ultimately hitting a wall far away when the corridor made a turn. "Seems fine."

Kentucky walked forward, his entire body hard as a divine diamond, ready to defend against any sudden attacks in the passage. The twins’ group followed right behind Kentucky. There wasn’t really a reason to choose one color over the other as they couldn’t tell what they could find inside. They simply didn’t select their own Green Color passage.

They didn’t have to walk for long. After a few turns, ups, and downs, they found another one of those doors with intricated patterns. The first one like that resonated with Roan’s Green Light and opened back when they went under the waterfall. What about this one?

Roan approached the door again, and black light appeared on the patterns. Yet, Roan’s Green Light did not resonate with it. Instead, the door reacted against his Green Light!

*Ziu!*

A ray of Black Light shot at Roan’s chest, and he immediately used his Intent Scythe to parry it. Roan narrowed his eyes as his hand went numb, and his Intent Weapon was almost destroyed. He could reform it straight away, but the power of the ray of Black Light showed how dangerous it was.

Roan quickly opened the distance from the door, and the others paid attention to see if it would shoot another ray of Black Light. Seeing that the door didn’t do anything after that attack, they relaxed a bit. "Could it be we were wrong about taking a path of a different color?"

But then, Kentucky noticed something and moved in the door’s direction once again. The rest of their group looked curious and wondered what the bird intended to do.

Stopping in front of the door, the black patterns lit up again, and another ray of Black Light shot, this time in Kentucky’s direction. Not only that, it looked even more powerful to the point Roan wasn’t confident his Intent Scythe, which could easily destroy Rean’s weapons, could stop it. Kentucky didn’t dodge, though. He stuffed his chest, and then...

*Ding!*

The ray of Black Light hit the Green Light on Kentucky’s Chest perfectly. Both lights reacted, and they merged together, turning Dark Green.

*Clac, clac, clac...*

*Rumble...*

The area began to shake violently while the sound of mechanisms echoed from behind the door. It was different from back then when the mechanism echoed without all the shaking. It lasted a minute or so, and then it stopped.

"What did you do?" Roan asked Kentucky.

Kentucky then explained. "When you parried the light earlier, I felt like the light was trying to hit the green light on your chest, not your body. However, it carried a lot of power, and anyone would definitely dodge, block, or parry it. That was common sense."

It was even more true for other experts. Truth be told, this Golden Palace had been at a level that was inferior to the twins’ overall power. It’s just that whoever created it most likely never expected monsters of the twins’ group’s caliber would ever appear here.

That being said, that Ray of Black Light, which already posed such danger to Roan, would simply be a killing blow to pretty much anyone else in this exploration. No one would risk taking it head-on.

Kentucky continued. "No one would let themselves be hit by that, but what if that was exactly what needed to be done? That’s why I went ahead and didn’t dodge or do anything else. I just let the Black Ray of Light hit me. Or, to be more precise, the Green Light on my chest."

Kentucky smiled right after. "Well, I might not have tried to dodge, but I sure did use all my power to increase my defenses against that attack. Everything concentrated exactly where the Black Light was going to hit me if my plan failed. You could say it’s because I’m confident I could survive it with my defenses that I tried that at all."

That’s definitely not something anyone else in the other groups could attempt. At the very least, not attempt while having the same confidence as Kentucky.

"I see..." Rean nodded. "The so-called test of survival and courage. This definitely counts as courage, the courage to let oneself be hit by the attack, just for it to not really be an attack. By the way, Kentucky, the light on your chest has now become Dark Green instead of just normal Green."

"Yours too," Kentucky smiled at the others, and they nodded. Indeed, everyone’s Chest Green Light turned Dark Green. No doubt it was because they were there at the same time that the door recognized them. After all, since they already saw what had to be done, there was no point in having the rest of the twins’ group do the same thing. Well, there was an exception, Royer, who didn’t have a light to start with.

Finally, the door ahead opened, but this time, there wasn’t another corridor. Instead, there seemed to be a portal behind it.

"Hey!" Royer immediately spoke, recognizing it. "This is it! That portal will send us to the next region!"
