Death... and me

Chapter 3619: Worth Making an Effort

Chapter 3619: Worth Making an Effort

The next one to have an episode was actually Grititi himself. His thirst for blood reached a peak moment, and he turned his eyes towards the rest of the twins’ group. However, even though he sees them as a source of blood for him to absorb, he hasn’t lost his head yet. "This is not good. I’m seeing you all as nothing but blood right now. Perhaps we should go separate ways here as I don’t want you exploding the Soul Power Bomb in my head because I attacked you."

Royer shook his head. "We found several monsters’ nests but none of a portal inside. However, if what that guy said is true, we should be very close to the end of this region. Are you going to lose your mind straight away?"

Grititi calmed down a little. "No. I’m seeing things, but my mind is still under my control... slightly."

"Then continue to run. You are doing a great job as a bait. If things truly run out of control, I’m confident I can easily knock you out," Royer concluded. Well, he couldn’t do that, but he was sure the Rean, Roan, Kentucky, and Celis could.

Grititi had his doubts. He saw how Royer never really took any of the more challenging opponents. Royer said he wasn’t doing much so his disciples could properly train, but he didn’t believe that anymore. But then again, the Soul Power Bomb in his Soul forced him to accept any arrangements they gave him.

Truth be told, Royer and Elsie weren’t much better than Grititi. They were already looking at each other differently, even though they knew it was due to this place’s environment. They warned the twins’ group, who assured them they would be stopped if necessary.

As mentioned before, those who had lived for a very long time, hundreds of thousands of years or more, like Royer, Elsie, and Grititi, were more vulnerable to this effect. After all, they haven’t had these sensations for way too long. The twins’ group, on the other hand, all had just a few thousand years at most. It was much easier for them, including Rifindio. Well, that didn’t include Kentucky, who always felt hungry due to his special body condition, so it was pretty much as bad for him as it was for Grititi.

"Then don’t blame me if I do something later," Grititi warned. However, he wondered if he could use that excuse to truly try to kill someone without being considered at fault. Unfortunately for him, that thought only lasted a second. Regardless if he was at fault or not, would the twins’ group let him live if he killed one of them? He sure wouldn’t if he was in their shoes. Thus, he focused even more on his urges, trying to suppress them the best he could.

"Hum? Isn’t that..." Kentucky then spotted someone further ahead. There, he saw a core moving, lightning sparking all around it. "It’s Ginpel, the Spirit that left our group first. He is fighting something."

They approached not too fast and then saw Ginpel’s Lightning exploding around. He was attacking a bunch of bubbles that were floating around. In fact, all around the twins’ group, they saw more bubbles. Those bubbles came out of the ground itself, but even touching them caused no harm. It was as if they weren’t even there.

"Give me your Lightning Element! Hahaha!" Ginpel’s Lightning hit another bubble, and he stood where he destroyed the bubble for a few moments. It’s just that no Lightning Element came out of the bubble at all. Then, he moved to the next, and the next, and the next, attacking one after another and saying the same things.

"He has completely lost his mind," Grititi commented, and he could already see himself ending just like that Spirit. "We need to hurry up."

"Yes, go ahead," Royer spoke. "Take the Spirit down."

"What?!" Grititi was taken aback. "You want me to fight the Spirit? He and I are at the same level. Nothing good will come out of such a fight, especially against someone who clearly lost his mind. It might actually make me lose my mind instead!"

"Oh, that’s fine," Royer didn’t seem to care. "Just try not to die. I’ll have my disciples make a move to knock out Ginpel. If necessary, I’ll join and knock you out."

Grititi’s mouth twitched, but he could only do as Royer said. "Fuck my life!"

He transformed into his Camazotz Bat form and immediately summoned several of his blood spears. They all shot in Ginpel’s direction, who noticed it straight away and counter-attacked. "Want to rob my Lightning Element?! Die!"

A battle immediately started, and explosions happened everywhere.

"This bait of ours is the best idea we had so far," Roan commented for a moment.

Rean, however, was paying more attention to the bubbles. "Why are there bubbles here?"

"They look more like floating ores to me..." Kentucky was already drooling.

Roan and Celis showed their fists to Kentucky, who quickly snapped out of his trance. "Fuck! Stop scaring me!"

Royer was tense. "W-What about Grititi? The battle over there is pretty intense..."

Roan wasn’t worried. "You should pay more attention. Ginpel had used a lot of his Divine Energy to attack these bubbles for a while. His attacks are actually pretty weak, as he is running out of fuel. Grititi should be able to make him use the rest of his Divine Energy, and then knocking him out will be easy."

*Blop!*

Rean touched a bubble that burst immediately, and then his eyes lit up. "Oh, I see now!"

"What is it?" Roan and the others asked.

"These aren’t just normal bubbles. They have laws inside them. It’s just that we haven’t felt these kinds of laws before, so we didn’t notice. Pay more attention. You will feel them, albeit slightly," Rean explained.

Sure enough, each one of them burst a bubble, and after paying very close attention, they felt some laws being liberated with the bubbles’ burst. "What kind of laws are these?"

"Probably related to hunger, thirsty, and these things," Rean commented. "So, try to avoid them from now on. They will only worsen our condition. One or two won’t make much of a difference, so don’t worry about the ones we had just burst."

Royer looked back at the battle between Grititi and Ginpel. "Those two are bursting a lot of them..."

Rean nodded, and his Elemental Intent Sword appeared. "That’s fine. These bubbles are probably something like a last hurdle before leaving this region. We should indeed be very close to the end. Let’s knock those two out and drag them away."

Roan and Celis nodded. "As for Kentucky, stay behind."

"You don’t need to ask me that twice," Kentucky was more than happy to not make a move.

Those three joined the fight and easily subjugated Grititi and Ginpel before making them go unconscious. Both of them had already lost their minds after bursting so many bubbles. Then, the trio came back, much to Royer’s relief.

Still, he was confused. "Why did you go this far to save Ginpel?"

"Hum?" Rean looked at him. "He was also someone who had been in the palace before, wasn’t he? His knowledge might be useful. Since saving him was easy, it seemed an effort worth making."

"Easy..." Royer would never call what they just did easy. "So be it. Let’s leave this shit place."
