Death... and me

Chapter 3681: But First...

Chapter 3681: But First...

"But before that, absorb this." The kid, Victor, waved his hand, and four tiny gray lights appeared.

The twins’ group checked that with their Divine Sense, but they couldn’t really feel anything from it. It wasn’t that their Divine Senses couldn’t see it; they could. Their Divine Senses could detect those specs of light presences. However, aside from that, it didn’t feel like anything special. No weird power, no strange energy, nothing.

Roan caught one of those specs of gray light without any protection. There was no point trying to defend against Victor. The difference in power was way too big. Victor didn’t need to use any roundabout methods. If he wanted to force the twins’ group to do something, he could simply force it.

"What is this thing?"

Victor shrugged. "You are quickly reaching the higher stages of cultivation, and at some point, you will interact with other Universes in the Werdlem Empire. As you are now, the fact that you came from outside the Werdlem Empire’s Bubble will be obvious with a simple deeper investigation. These little guys will mask your outsider traits, and no one other than me will be able to tell that you are not from here."

The twins’ group looked at Victor. "Sure enough, you knew about us."

The twins were also confused. Didn’t the system attune to the Werdlem Empire System? How can he tell that they came from outside? ’Any ideas, Sister Orb?’

[Well, the system is indeed attuned with the Werdlem System. The Werdlem System can’t differentiate you from outsiders anymore. Still, that doesn’t mean there aren’t other ways to find that out, and it seems Triaglia found it as soon as we met Rifindio for the first time.]

’That also explains why she completely blocked access to Rifindio’s information then,’ Rean observed. Back then, when Rifindio tried to access the Werdlem Empire with his ID, it was blocked. ’All part of that harsh treatment he had to receive...’

[Indeed, but Rifindio will be able to ask her directly in the future.]

Victor continued. "Anyone at Triaglia’s level and above would identify it instantly. You already know about how Triaglia is the Universe Owner. That allows her to see more than anyone else there, including the outside Great Void traits that you carry. As for me, it is even clearer."

"Why would you help us with such a thing?" Roan asked as his eyes narrowed. "Just recently, the Werdlem Empire came after us, although they think we are dead at the moment. Aren’t you someone from the Werdlem Empire? Shouldn’t you capture us, kill us, torture us, or all that shit?"

"I should," Victor was amused. "But let’s just say I owe a certain someone a favor."

"A certain someone? Who?" No one in the twins’ group liked all that mystery.

"There is no need for you to know," Victor kept a tight lip, though. "You have never met anyway, so even if I told you, you wouldn’t know that one. Alright, stop wasting time. I want to go back with Rifindio, so absorb it already. Alternatively, you can simply discard it. I’m definitely not forcing you. If you think you have a better idea, by all means, disregard what I gave you. Just be aware it will disappear on its own in an hour or so."

Sister Orb spoke again. [Ask him to allow you to use your Pocket Dimensional Realms. Then, bring it inside. I will have a much easier time checking these things.]

Roan and the others nodded. "Would you unlock our Pocket Dimensional Realms? Just one of us is enough."

Victor didn’t mind. "Sure. Everything is over already anyway."

Immediately, the Rean, Roan, Elsie, Royer, Kentucky, and Celis felt their connection with their dimensional realms restored. In the next second, Rean entered the Dimensional Realm while Roan and the others waited outside.

[Alright, this is better. Let’s see...] Sister Orb spent a few seconds working on that thing. [Hum... All I can tell is that it doesn’t seem to have any harmful effects. It doesn’t look like a tracker either. If anything, it does indeed carry the Werdlem Empire’s common spatial traits. There is something more, probably related to the other traits like the energy and such, but it is all harmless as well.]

Sister Orb took a look at the kid outside before adding. [I’m pretty sure this is something Victor created on the spot. Truly a terrifying expert.]

Rean pulled it back in his hand. It would disappear in an hour, so they had to make the decision.

*Zush!*

Rean reappeared outside while holding the little gray light. "So, what do you think? It’s our decision."

Roan didn’t look very happy with it... Well, he never does, but now more than normal. He had Sister Orb’s words, but if there is one thing they learned, it is that she wasn’t flawless in the Werdlem Empire. They had been found before because she didn’t know intent could be used for tracking, and these gray lights might have a similar purpose.

But then, he gave up thinking too much. Once again, the difference in power was too big. Would Victor really need to go through all this to find them now that he knows about their existence? Roan highly doubted so. But then again, it was in his nature to doubt everything, regardless of how unlikely it seemed to be.

"Just take a leap of faith," Victor suddenly said.

"A leap of faith, uh?" Roan looked at it straight, finally nodding. "So be it. But after we absorb it, we would like to ask you one more question."

Victor shrugged. "You aren’t really in a position to ask me anything, but I’m in a good mood. Very well, just ask once you are done."

With that being said, the twins’ group immediately absorbed the lights. They could feel it spreading through every cell of their bodies, and they kept a close eye on the changes that were occurring...

Well, truth be told, there were no changes. The only one to notice anything was Kentucky. "I can tell our natural interaction with space has been altered somehow, but it is so subtle we might as well just pretend it didn’t happen."

*Clap.*

"And this is it," Victor said after clapping his hands. "Now then, what do you want to know?"
