163 The Second Covenant (2)

Yes, after casting his bloodline power on the variant type demon, what was standing in front of Blake was a child. An actual demon child.

Different from its body outside that was wholly covered in fire, the variant type demon in front of Blake didn’t have any kind of fire covering its petite body.

A girl with short red hair, even redder than Vera, with red skin, and two tiny horns that were only slightly longer and thicker than Blake’s index finger protruding on her head.

Both her torso and lower body were covered by a simple red cloth that Blake wasn’t a single bit curious about where they came from, but the placement of those cloths and the shape of the child’s body was enough for Blake to determine that the demon in front of him was a girl despite the short air that was only slightly longer than him.

Blake looked at the variant type demon in front of him, and so did the variant type demon looked at herself.

And before Blake was able to say anything to break the awkward silence and explain what was happening to the variant type demon, the little demoness already spoke first.

“There is no fire...”

Blake tilted his head and looked at the unexpected first words that the variant type demon said, probably in its entire life because he hadn’t heard her saying anything back in the demon world. However, he stayed silent as he didn’t know what to say in response to such a statement.

After saying her first sentence, the little demoness once again looked all over her body, as if making sure that there was really not a single fire remaining on her body.

.....

“No fire... My body is not on fire anymore!” The little demoness shouted while visibly jumping around in the dark empty void.

Then after she was done jumping, she finally noticed Blake’s presence, his eyes still looking at hers, seemingly trying to figure out what the little demoness was doing.

However, seemingly oblivious to Blake’s curiosity, the little demoness ignored it and just grabbed Blake’s hand, which ended up in failure due to how the two of them were only the consciousness version of themselves and physical contact was impossible to happen.

Finding the situation to be weird, the little demoness tried touching Blake’s hand again, then failed again. The scene repeated itself a couple more times before Blake decided to speak.

“We can’t touch each other because it’s not our real body.”

Hearing Blake’s voice, the little demoness was slightly startled, taking a step back while looking at Blake’s face, this time observing it closely.

“I know you!” The little demoness excitedly said while pointing at Blake.

“Yes, we’ve met before.” Blake nodded his head while giving her a smile.

“You are the only one that I can touch without being destroyed!”

“What?” Was Blake’s reflexive response to the statement that he just heard. But he quickly organized his mind and asked a proper question.

“What do you mean I’m the only one you can touch?”

Seemingly happy that she was talking with someone else for the first time, the little demoness instantly gave Blake an answer.

“Yes! Every other thing other than huge rocks and the ground, they all either burn or melt away if I touch them...” The variant type demon’s voice lowered at the last few words that came out of her mouth.

“The beautiful plant on the ground with vibrant colors, the small creatures that jumped around everywhere to move, even other creatures that looked like you, I can never touch them as they will burn away if I do so...”

‘Flowers, Rabbits, and other humanoid demons? Is that what she meant by her descriptions?’ Blake guessed as he heard the little demoness’ answer.

“But you are different!” The little demoness suddenly half-shouted, breaking the melancholic tone that her words were delivering a few moments ago.

“Not only were you very fun to play with, flying around left and right, exchanging fireballs with your smaller black fireballs, and playing chase, I can even touch you and hug you with all my might without burning you down!”

The tone of the little demoness was genuinely very excited and bubbly that Blake even began to think that the little demoness really thought that he was really trying to play around with him despite him trying to get her soul to eat.

When he thought about it like that, Blake began to slightly feel bad as he didn’t even think about that and just focused on the soul that he would get after defeating the variant type demon.

‘No! No! She might have called it playing around, but her fireballs, and particularly her hug were more than enough to kill me without my dark earth armor and plenty of nether in my tank!’ Blake quickly admonished his earlier thoughts.

‘Her definition of playing around is definitely different. After all, she is a variant. And Vera said that variants were a unique species that nobody could figure out what they really had in mind.’

‘Hmmm... Now that I think of it, is it a good idea to make someone so unpredictable my frie-‘ Blake’s mind was then cut off as he heard what the little demoness said next.

“That’s why I followed you around!”

“You followed me here? Why?” Blake quickly dished out his questions.

“You are the only one who I can touch without being burned, and you are also the only one I can play around with without the dark orb coming out of your body.”

‘Without being killed by you, you mean...?’ Blake retorted in his mind, but kept it within his head and not spilling it out of his mouth.

“There’s no one else I can do that with... I can’t touch anyone else without spreading my fire on them... That’s why I followed you, I want to play again with you...”

It took Blake a few seconds to understand the little demoness’ point of view. But after understanding what it meant to be unable to interact with anything other than rocks, stones, and earth without hurting them, Blake then instantly decided to make his offer.

“If you want to, you can come around with me everywhere I go. I promise I will play with you whenever I have spare time other than when I have to use that spare time to rest. What do you think about that?”

“Really!? You will really play a lot with me?”

“Yes, I could promise you that if you accept my offe-”

Without Blake even finishing his sentence, the little demoness instantaneously gave him her answer.

“I accept! Let’s go play!”

Once the verbal confirmation was given, the two were then ejected from the realm of consciousness as they both returned to the real world.
