97 Humanoid Demons And A Question
‘Boats... those were sailboats...’ Blake thought to himself as he had finally gotten close enough to the edge of the island to see what were the dots coming from the deep blue sea.
Different from the sailboats or the ships with sails that Blake saw in movies back when he was still on earth, the sails on the boats that he saw weren’t white in color.
In fact, they were made up of many different colors as if they were patched up together from smaller fabrics to create the huge sail.
As the sailboats were still quite far away from where Blake was currently gliding, he still couldn’t see what was inside the sailboats.
But Blake would bet a soul worth 6 souls that the ones that were on the sailboats were none other than more humanoid demons.
And the fact that there were 5 of those sailboats, Blake assumed that there would at least be roughly 20 or 25 humanoid demons considering the sailboats looked too small to have any more than 4 or 5 humanoid demons.
Of course, Blake wasn’t cocky and thought that he would be able to just defeat 25 humanoid demons all at once like what he did with the group of five humanoid demons.
But that didn’t mean that Blake didn’t have a plan to try and get his hands on their souls.
Just remembering the taste of the brownish demon’s soul made Blake think very hard about how he would be able to hunt the 25 humanoid demons and scare them enough that their soul would have a sweet taste to them.
.....
But of course, first, Blake decided to quickly glide back down into the forest as he was really nearing the edge of the island and he didn’t want to expose himself to the humanoid demons who could possibly have good eyesight.
He hadn’t seen many humanoid demons but remembering that the five humanoid demons he met all had their own unique traits, thinking that one of them would have eyes as large as his head and able to see from a few kilometers away wasn’t too far-fetched.
Blake then waited for Robus to catch up to him before telling him,
“Robus, we might be catching bigger fishes this time!”
“r?” (Fishes?)
“Yes! More tasty souls!”
“Rr?” (Where are they?)
“They are currently on their way over here. But I wasn’t 100% sure yet.”
Blake was at least 90% sure that the ones that were on the sailboats were humanoid demons, but without seeing them with his own two eyes, Blake wouldn’t be too sure yet.
Besides, if they were really humanoid demons, Blake would then have to use the bracelet that Vera gave him.
‘Ah... I remember Vera told me to not engage them in anything if I saw them...’
It was still picture perfect in his mind, the moment Vera sternly told him about what to do if he ever met humanoid demons again.
‘But those tasty, sweet, and savory souls....’
Blake then slapped his own head a couple of times, clearing his mind.
‘There must be a reason why Vera told me to do that. She even refuses to eat or even come out of her basement for a full week because of it.’
Blake then made his decision.
‘I should listen to her.’
Blake then took another step, closer to the sea’s direction where the five sailboats were coming.
“Robus, let’s observe them. Very carefully.” Blake said before he started running towards the sea’s direction.
“We should be fast if we want to wait for them to arrive at the edge of the island.”
Blake had already made a decision to not attack or even made his presence known to the humanoid demons as Vera had told him to do so.
But he still needed to make sure that those coming to the island were actually humanoid demons before he activated the bracelet that Vera gave him.
And with Blake and Robus running at full speed, they quickly made their way towards the edge of the forest, close to the beach where the island and the sea met, way faster than the sailboats arrived on the island.
Just as usual, Blake told Robus to stay slightly further away as his huge body and presence would easily be detected by anyone who was cautious and close enough.
While he himself searched for a perfect hiding spot where he could monitor the beach where the sailboats would most likely be docking.
And after searching for a few minutes, Blake then finally settled on top of a tree branch near the very edge of the forest.
Blake looked around him, making sure that he already had a retreat path once he was done observing the possible humanoid demons then he returned his focus back to the sea.
Precisely onto the sailboats that were coming closer and closer to the island every passing second.
It took the sailboats more or less 30 more minutes after Robus and Blake settled themselves to finally get close enough to the island that Blake could finally confirm his earlier guess.
And although deep down it was already confirmed for him, when he finally saw that on each sailboat there were five humanoid demons, Blake quickly nodded his head and sent his nether through the bracelet that Vera had given him.
The runes inscribed on the bracelet then lit up for a few seconds before it returned back to normal.
Blake didn’t know what the bracelet did, but seeing the runes activated correctly just like any other rune formation, Blake knew that the bracelet had worked properly.
Now that Blake had confirmed that more humanoid demons did come to the island and activated the bracelet as Vera had told him, his job was done and all he needed to do was to make sure that he stayed far enough from the humanoid demons so that they wouldn’t be aware of his existence.
Blake didn’t have any problem with doing that as he already cemented his decision that he wouldn’t be reckless and engage the humanoid demons when Vera told him not to do it.
However, Blake still had a question in mind that was still left unanswered.
‘Why was Vera so wary of them?’
That question that led to him going into the deep parts of the forest in the first place was still not answered as he didn’t have a single clue.
But now, in front of his eyes was a big clue that might have given him the answer that he wanted.
So after making sure that his hiding spot was really secure and not obviously visible, Blake lowered his body, crouching on top of the tree branch to make sure that he was really hard to spot before staying still with his eyes still glued to the five sailboats that almost arrived at the beach.
