‘Speaking of being unnecessarily extra careful…’, Wu Long narrowed his eyes, as he observed the scene in the Martial Alliance representative’s office happening, ‘I did think I was overdoing it when I placed that Talisman there… but I guess you truly never know…’
Wu Long saw that the Martial Alliance representative understood his warning, and knew he wouldn’t be causing trouble for him. He wouldn’t be even attempting to solve the matter that way if he thought it wouldn’t work.
Normally, he didn’t even need to observe him further or really think about him, as nothing tied the two together anymore.
And largely, he would have been correct in that.
If Wu Long held no interest in Li Yunxi whatsoever, that would have been the end of the connection between Wu Long and the Martial Alliance representative, as the latter had no way of knowing Wu Long had any kind of connection to Li Yunxi, and thus technically didn’t go against Wu Long’s warning.
But Wu Long still chose to add that extra measure of precaution for the duration of his time in the Emerald Falls City just in case. As he just told his ladies who were still around him, he would rather be overcautious than sorry.
‘Hmm, the Gu Family huh… it would explain why she was uncomfortable being called by family name… she might’ve not responded or was uncomfortable if I called her Fairy Li, as she was never called that in her life…’, Wu Long sank into thoughts, not sure how to deal with this situation.
He obviously liked the beauty, and wanted to learn more about her.
Not to mention, he always considered it an unacceptable waste for a woman with a good heart like her to come into harm, even if he didn’t really hold any interest or couldn’t have her for himself.
But then again, this matter with the Gu Family was going to surface at one point, one way or another, so it was better for it to be dealt with while it could be done under control.
Thus he decided to not make any hasty moves, and monitor the situation a bit more to see if there would be any developments that could be made use of. It wasn’t too late to intervene a bit later if things turned into the wrong direction too fast.
And in a few hours, with another Talisman that he sent out to spy after the Pill Tower Master, he chuckled after witnessing his conversation with his wife, who really was quite a schemer.
As soon as she heard the news, she put a stop to doing anything rash moves, or rather to doing anything at this point in time apart from covertly confirming if the young lady of the Gu Family was really missing.
As she correctly pointed out, outing Gu Yunxi to the Gu Family right now would certainly create waves, but only minor ones which could not really shake the position of the Main Branch Family Head they wanted to rattle.
It would be a much, much bigger issue if Gu Yunxi was allowed to roam more, increasing the period of time that the Main Branch Family Head kept her disappearance under wraps and thus was deceiving the whole Family.
It was even preferable if she entered the Secret Realm of the Great Fang Dynasty and hopefully gained visibility there.
And if she were to emerge from the Secret Realm and appear on a grander stage in the Great Fang Dynasty itself, they could really cause an uproar by revealing her identity at that exact moment.
The wife of the Pill Tower Master was even willing to help Gu Yunxi from the shadows to rack up more achievements as a Disciple of the Profound Union Pavilion.
Thus, the whole plan of outing her now, was immediately scrapped as he wife of the Pill Tower Master was aiming for maximum damaging effect to their opponents within the Gu Family, thus also playing into Wu Long’s hand.
Of course, he had to still monitor the situation, to also confirm that the Martial Alliance representative would be properly persuaded to follow this new plan, and no other problems come up, but thanks to the Pill Tower Master’s wife, Wu Long could largely let it play out a little longer, until the opening of the Secret Realm, with only a few minor tweaks from him to the scenario that she wrote out.
The timing also worked better for him, as after the Secret Realm, he would be in much better shape to deal with any fallout and possibly an open confrontation with the Gu Family, and thus the Alchemy Association, and possibly the Martial Alliance.
It wasn’t something he could avoid for too long anyway, but it was better to have it happen after the Secret Realm than at this point in time, when there was still a bit of uncertainty about his current ability to deal with that scale of problems.
So in a sense, it was a useful scheme to buy him time.
—
There were a few things that Wu Long still had to deal with concerning his gains from the Secret Realm.
The first was the mysterious lightning stone, but that he decided to postpone until his return to the Soft Meadow Continent.
The second was the massive reservoir of Spiritual Qi he absorbed, which would be helping him advance, also at a later time, when he would be using the Yin and Yang attribute natural treasures.
The third, was the Wood Rune, which he was currently training in dealing with alongside Gong Liwei who was also trying to adjust to her newly obtained Wood Elemental Attribute.
It was a very reasonable thing for the two to explore the same Elemental Attribute together as they could both gain insights from each other even if their power over that element was fundamentally different.
And yet, no matter how much sense it made, it was making Gong Liwei very conscious of his presence near her. Gong Cui’s constant insinuations in her time off the training sessions didn’t help take her mind off of that either.
Wei Lan joined them as well, but not at all times, only shortly exploring the connection between her Earth element and the Wood element they were trying to comprehend, and trying to facilitate their learning process, giving Gong Liwei short periods of being able to calm down. But she was still busy exploring her abilities in regards to her garden, and thus left the two alone far more than she actually joined them.
Luo Mingyu was currently also busy with her comprehension of her Extreme Yin Physique as she entered the final phase, being almost on the brink of making a breakthrough in that regard. Which meant she wasn’t with them.
Gong Cui, ‘for some reason’ also decided to focus more on her Music Dao, claiming she was “on the verge of a big breakthrough, huge one! Just super huge!”
Thus, it was the two of them, sitting in meditative poses but with open eyes, and while trying to manipulate Wood Qi, exchanging their insights.
