With Amethyst we flew through the skies of the Earth Dragon Realm, finally reaching a series of enormous mountains with the “Soul Sanctuaries”. The first one we visited and the largest of them all was called the Golem Crystal Sanctuary, filled with golem-type Soul Beasts which were perfect for Amethyst to hunt, eat, and use as materials for her Soul Gear.

Once we walked into the caves, she looked around curiously, noticing the large growths of crystals everywhere, they were all overflowing with elemental and spiritual energies, especially draconic divine energy, and naturally, Soul Essence as well, which was what was the most important composition we required to create the Soul Gear that would help her out the most.

“Wow it’s a huge cave…” she said, looking around. “And the crystals seem quite rich in soul essence! I think I could just eat these and use them for Soul Gear, right?”

“You should begin with them, yes,” I nodded. “But once you gain enough power, hunt monsters… I am sure there are more than golems here though, you’ll need meat and blood from Soul Beasts to truly nurture your Soul properly.”

“Ugh, fine…” she sighed, as she started using her sharp claws to destroy the crystals one by one and then began munching on them like snacks. “Hmmm! They got a strong flavor!”

“Of what?” I asked.

“Of crystals! Crunchy!” she ate them without hesitation.

I don’t know if I would enjoy doing that though… I can certainly do it but… no, why would I? It’s more than just weird.

But I suppose that as a Earth Dragon, eating rocks and crystals is normal for her…

“Crunch, crunch, crunch…”

As she ate, I quickly walked around and then sent dozens of slimes through the various caves to map the entire place for myself, I quickly learned this entire place was quite big, as big as the mountains, and it stretched all the way below the mountain itself too.

The quality of the crystals also changed the lower we were from the mountain’s top, and the Soul Beasts that roamed the place were also stronger…

I think this place will be enough for the two of us, it should be Amethyst’s perfect training ground for her soul and also her body.

I explained to the two how big this place was, and both Amethyst and Jord seemed excited.

“Sounds great! Let me eat some more before we continue, I can feel my soul growing stronger…!” Amethyst said, eating more and more. “Hmmm…! I think this is as much as I can strengthen my soul eating the crystals… burp.”

“Then it’s time for you to start fighting for real,” Jord said. “Drake, can you lead us to some beast?”

“Leave it to me, I’ve already detected a couple of big groups with them,” I said. “Follow me.”

I quickly led the two of them through the caves, until we entered a larger, more open area. In this area, there were a lot of roaming crystal golem soul beasts… they weren’t the usual golem made of blocks of stone and crystal, but they were lizard, lion, or rhinoceros shaped, overflowing with draconic, spirit, and soul energies.

“GRUOOOHHH!”

The moment they spotted us, they roared, charging towards us! They were roughly a dozen, and the weakest was Rank 8, with the strongest being Rank 10. I stepped back, leaving Amethyst the rest.

“Alright, they seem eager to kill us. Go on Amethyst, hunt. I am sure you’re an expert in doing that,” I smiled.

“Finally! I am!” she roared, her body overflowing with her divinity. “Leave this to me!”

RUMBLE!

The ground shook as pieces of stone and crystals flew everywhere, Amethyst reached her targets in a second, her sharp claws mowing down their bodies into pieces, as both crystals and blood splattered everywhere.

“Oh, they got meat inside!”

Amethyst grabbed the carcass of one of the beast she just killed and started punching on it, drinking the blood. The other beasts grew enraged, attacking her from left, right, above and behind, slashing claw attacks, bites, and elemental magic bombarded her.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

“Uwaaah?!”

She panicked as she started running away from the explosions, while I and Jord facepalmed. Did she really have to distract herself to eat a monster mid battle? I am the Demon King of Gluttony, but not even I do such a thing.

“Amethyst! Concentrate on fighting the monsters! Kill them all first, then you worry about anything else later!” I said. “Be careful, don’t let them hit you too much, or your soul can receive a lot of damage!”

“R-Right!” she nodded, quickly leaping in midair, spreading her wings, and firing beams of rainbow light from each of her crystal scales, bombarding the monsters back. “Die! Die! Die! Dieeee!”

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

She had gone berserk out of desperation, almost getting her soul destroyed in the process… Jord sighed, looking at the girl finally taking down the Soul Beasts one by one.

“I’m sorry Drake, she’s really quite the reckless girl,” sighed Jord. “I hope that with you, she could learn a thing or two about being more cautious.”

“I didn’t think I would have to go so far with my teachings but… I guess I’ll have to do it,” I nodded.

Once she was done killing all the Soul Beasts, I walked to her side, reprimanding her while stopping her from getting to the carcasses to eat them.

“Hey! Let me eat them! I hunted them! Grrrr! Graaarrr!” she roared at me angrily, as if we were animals and I was trying to take away her food.

“Stop growling at me, we are not beasts, we are dragons!” I said, slamming the ground with my tail. “Amethyst, you were too reckless there! Fighting without even a plan? And you stop to eat a monster even though a dozen more are coming after you?! That was terribly done!”

“What?! I did what I could! And I defeated them, so it doesn’t matter anyway!” she said angrily.

“It matters! It really matters!” I said. “If you continue fighting this way, you’re never going to defeat Umbral nor avenge your mother! You’re only going to get killed and eaten by that bastard!”

“Y-You can’t say that!” Amethyst screamed, suddenly beginning to cry. “I-I am working hard here! I am doing what you’re telling me to do! What else do you want me to do?! Uuuggh! Give me my food! RAAAARRR!”
