Chapter 2829: My Body

Alex tried to do something. He tried to fight back against this Intent, but it fell on him like a heavy blanket, making him unable to move. He didn’t have the strength to push it back.

’No!’ he thought. He needed to do something. He couldn’t let Death die.

He tried to scream for Godslayer, but no words came out. He couldn’t even speak.

His mind was a wreck, unable to do anything but observe and think. Even if there had never been a seal around his Spiritual sea, it would’ve been impossible for him to grab hold of Godslayer in this moment.

He could perform no action at all.

Alex had to sit there and watch as the sect leader of the Endless Night sect ignored him and proceeded with Death’s execution.

’Godslayer!’ he thought, hoping that alone was enough to reach the sword spirit. ’I need your help. Please.’

He needed something. Anything.

“Argh!” someone screamed suddenly.

“Ouch, what was that?”

“There’s something in my clothes.”

“It bit me.”

“Ughh, my head.”

Numerous cries came from all around, one after another, causing the sect master to turn back with confusion. “What are you guys doing?” he shouted. “Focus!”

“There’s something here,” someone shouted again.

“It’s attacking us.”

“I saw it. It’s a mouse.”

Alex felt hope.

Whisker?

The pressure on his mind was slowly lifting. Whisker wasn’t strong enough for these people, and he was a coward. But he had come to help despite all that. And he had come at the right time.

Alex heard some more noises and then a feeling of something flowing back to his shoulders.

Whisker had died.

’Good work, buddy,’ Alex thought. ’Leave the rest to me.’

With Whisker’s distraction, many were no longer focused on Alex. And the heavy blanket around his mind had lost a lot of weight.

Alex fought back, using the might of his Intent to fight off their Intent that powered the formation.

The attack was too weak to fully break it, and hardly distracting at all, but the tiniest bit of pushback was exactly what was needed.

Not for him, but for Death.

Enough of the formation had weakened, so Death moved.

The sect master flew backward the moment he saw her in motion. He didn’t want to get caught in her attacks.

However, Death wasn’t moving toward him at all. Her hands were simply reaching for the sword she had dropped, inches away from her fingers.

“No!” the sect master shouted. Without a second wasted, he threw his spear down.

The spear made a beeline for the ground, not toward Death, but toward her sword. The spear struck the ground right between her hand and her sword, the force knocking the sword a few meters back.

“Suppress her! Now!” he shouted instantly.

The fear of Death moving caused the others to forget all distractions. They acted at once, using all the might of their Intent to suppress Death once again.

Death’s hands, which had been reaching for her sword, fell back to her side as she fell victim to the formation.

Alex’s face fell slightly upon seeing that. He had hoped that would have done the trick, but it seemed Death hadn’t succeeded in helping him.

While everyone was scared into focusing on Death, Alex was left all alone. He turned invisible immediately and flew backward, away from the group.

He began attacking as he flew, the attacks coming at the group from random locations.

The sect master quickly looked down to search for Alex, but he was gone.

“Where is he?” he shouted, but no one could answer him. No one had seen when Alex disappeared. They were too distracted by Death.

He looked to find Alex since he was the source of the attack, and thus locate him. But the attacks had no singular source, so it was hard to tell where Alex was.

All they could tell was that Alex was flying in all directions without pause, trying to distract them. They had to be on the lookout everywhere.

“A few of you spread out and defend. The rest of you, do not let him take Death away.” The sect leader saw no other recourse than to have a few people actively guard against him. “The moment the attacks stop coming, be prepared. He will be approaching.”

“Yes, sect leader!” they shouted.

Alex threw out attacks from his invisibility, but they lost their effectiveness as soon as the sect master ordered the others to defend.

Once his attacks stopped doing anything to them, the sect master prepared to kill Death again.

Alex stared at the sect leader with a certain level of annoyance. The man knew what he had to do and did it. Alex couldn’t help but hate him for that. If the situation were any other, he would’ve likely wanted to be his friend.

But since he was trying to kill Death, they were sadly in opposition.

’I really didn’t want to do this,’ Alex thought as he prepared. He really wanted to put this off until he had to, but it seemed he had to ask Godslayer for help.

He had no choice he could see now.

Alex took a deep breath and attacked the seal around his Spiritual sea. He was so used to doing this now that the pain barely bothered him. It was barely a prick for a moment and he was in.

The situation was urgent, so he hurriedly called for Godslayer.

“Godslayer, I need your help!” he shouted. “Godslayer!”

“Alex?” Godslayer’s voice came, somewhat weak, having just been awoken.

Alex felt guilty wanting to ask him for help. “Godslayer, I need y—”

“ALEX!” Godslayer’s voice came louder this time. Still weak, but loud.

“Yes?” Alex asked, confused by his shout.

“Alex, I— I can feel it,” Godslayer shouted, his voice carrying a sense of happiness now.

“Huh?”

“I can feel it,” Godslayer said again, louder. “Where are we? How can I feel it?”

“Feel what?” Alex asked.

To which, Godslayer replied:

“My body!”
