First Demonic Dragon

Chapter 1000 - 1000: Nightmare Realm

The dragon opened his eyes with a start.

He sat up warily and instantly knew that they were not in Kansas anymore.

At first, he thought himself disoriented. But no, his eyes were working properly enough. It was what he was seeing that didn’t make any sense.

He beheld a realm incomprehensible to the human mind. The ground might’ve been the sky, the sky might’ve been the ground.

There were stars to decipher at least, but they were completely different from any other star he had ever seen before.

And Abaddon considered himself to be quite the expert on the subject.

The sky was filled with the faraway screeching of rabid creatures.

Abaddon’s senses were shot at the moment, but he could feel the creatures approaching. He could feel their excitement too.

He finally realized that he was at the mercy of the elements. A little too much so.

His naked body was exposed to both the freezing cold and the burning hot air.

The only saving grace for his modesty was that his body wasn’t normal. It was comprised of the usual black and red energy that fueled his existence and powers. Only now, he was more black than red.

His long hair had regrown and nearly touched the floor while he was standing. His locks were split evenly down the middle, with one half white and the other half dark.

He no longer had a mouth, and the eye in the center of his chest had collapsed into a black hole.

At least in this form, he could alter his body so that he was no longer freezing/burning his nuts off.

“So you’re awake… Who is this Nick you dream of?”

Abaddon’s eyes swiveled behind him.

He was horrified that he had only now realized his wives were so close to him. All of them.

They lay just under the mouth of a cavern. Some of them weren’t moving at all, and a few were stirring like they were having bad dreams.

All of them were like him and thrust out of their usual bodies.

Except one.

“Izanami!”

Abaddon tried to get to his feet and bound towards his newest wife, who lay in the arms of Eris.

However, his efforts to get to her somehow resulted in him becoming even farther away.

“This…”

“Calm yourself, beloved. The things that we want to reach are forever out of our grasp here. Only by moving without wanting can we reach each other.”

Abaddon didn’t say anything, but that revelation troubled him greatly. He didn’t know if he could move forward without wanting them.

The thought of them fueled his every step. His every action. It had for billions of years now.

“I know your fears, love, but you can’t stay away forever. Close your eyes, clear your thoughts, and come to me.” Eris held out her hand.

The task seemed even more daunting with Eris beckoning him like that. Her voice was the sweetest sound.

Nevertheless, he closed his eyes to her and took several moments to temper his mind.

As he readied himself to take a step, he suddenly felt a hand grab his own.

When he opened his eyes, he was standing right in front of Eris.

“Unbelievable…” he murmured.

Eris gently pulled him down so that her was kneeling beside her and Izanami. “Yes… It seems a great many impossible things can occur here. Moving around will be tricky for us all.”

Abaddon stared at Eris’ divine wrath state. Like him, she was comprised of energy, but hers was a swirling mass of green and black. From the waist down, she had the legs of a gentle doe that made grass grow even in this hellish domain.

She had no eyes, but her mouth was still visible. The sight of her full, splendid lips made Abaddon question how he had ever gotten over here in the first place.

He soon turned his attention to Izanami, who was trembling in her arms.

Her body was wracked with sweat, and she was alternating between her usual appearance and an undead, horned variation that even he had never seen before.

“She… never relinquished her physical body. I’m sure any discomfort we feel is a hundred times worse on her.” Eris sounded heartbroken.

A sentiment that Abaddon shared.

“What can we do for her…?” Abaddon asked.

Eris looked uncomfortable as soon as he asked the question. He soon realized why.

Izanami would have to destroy her physical body willingly. It wasn’t a decision that either of them could make for her.

The wedding crests would make sure that she could survive here, but surviving comfortably was a different thing altogether.

“Have you tried to wake her…?”

Eris nodded. “She can only stay awake for a couple of seconds before the pain knocks her out… I don’t know what to do.”

Eris would have wept if she still possessed her eyes. Abaddon tried his best to comfort her when he suddenly heard movement behind him.

“Ugh… Where is… Honey..?”

“My head…”

To any normal eyes, Audrina and Lailah looked positively horrific.

The queen of darkness was a nightmarish figure. Her beautiful face was contorted so that horns were jutting out of her eye sockets, and a single violet eye could be seen sitting perfectly in her mouth.

Her arms had become a pair of fourteen-foot wings that were easily big enough for her to wrap her entire body in twice over.

A shadowy body was finalized with the legs of a very large bat. And a long, spiked tail that wrapped around her defensively.

Lailah was slightly less frightening to witness, bearing a black and gold body with no eyes or mouth, but a form reminiscent of a lamia.

However, her tail contained a litany of bright golden eyes that seemed to peer through all of existence.

When Lailah noticed Audrina was there, she rushed to hug her without thinking.

However, she was surprised when she miraculously appeared ten paces away from her instead.

“Lailah, dear, listen to me.” Eris explained. “You have to move very carefully here…”

After she explained the current situation, Lailah was able to grasp it fairly quickly.

She moved to Audrina’s body and wrapped her arms around her tenderly.

No words were exchanged between the two, but both clearly knew everything that the other wanted to say.

They got over their moment fairly quickly before turning their gaze toward Izanami.

“What’s going on with her..?” Audrina asked shakily.

“She can’t handle the realm.” Eris answered. “Being here is literally torturing her.”

“…Give her to me.” Audrina held out her arms.

Eris thought about it momentarily before she appeared next to Audrina and handed Izanmi to her.

Audrina used the tip of her tail to brush aside Izanami’s hair and reveal her neck.

She used one of the blades on her tail to slightly nick the side of her neck.

A powerful numbing agent was passed from Audrina to Izanami in an instant.

“Her body will start fighting this off shortly… I’ll need to keep readministering it, and even then Lillian’s might be better…”

Audrina glanced toward their sleeping love and saw that her lover was twitching in her sleep.

Actually, most of them were still asleep…

“What is going on here..?” Audrina asked.

Eris sighed. “It seems respite in this world comes with a punishment attached to it… You’ve all been having vivid nightmares ever since we arrived. It took me an unbelievable amount of concentration to wake up our husband before he started suffering.”

Abaddon was suddenly curious about how the best dream of his life could have possibly been about to turn into a nightmare.

But then he realized that there were a whole slew of possible torturous scenes he could have witnessed.

Like an unfair loss to Georgia, or Auburn… or even worse… he could have seen his hero retire in front of his very eyes again.

Abaddon wasn’t strong enough to go through those things a second time. His mind couldn’t take the burden.

He took Eris’ face in his hands and stared at her seriously.

“My love… You have no idea just how grateful to you I am.”

“Oh… You’re welcome?” Eris tilted her head.

One by one, the rest of the wives started to wake up.

Eris and Lailah took turns explaining to them everything that had been going on so far.

Needless to say, no one quite understood just how they had all gotten pulled in here when only three had entered, but for now, that problem was secondary to the main issue.

“My powers… they aren’t working properly.” Sif clenched and unclenched her massive blue fist. “I feel like a newborn again.”

One by one, everyone started testing their powers and found that Sif wasn’t the only one experiencing setbacks with their abilities.

It was as if they had been shoved back to square one with titanic amounts of energy, but no idea how to actually use it.

And they would need it very soon.

Abaddon….

Abaddon…

So good to see you again…

Do you perhaps have a moment to chat…?

Abaddon felt his blood run cold.

Whispers started creeping into his mind one after the other. To make things worse, he could now so clearly hear who the voice belonged to.

‘Nyarlathotep..!’
