Chapter 2130 – Care for a Drink?
“Your Eminence! Do you plan to attack me?” The Dragon-Headed Daoist’s gaze was unsightly, and his eyes were full of deep-seated caution and dread.
“When I left the Abyssal Ruin, I said that if any of you dared act without permission, you’d pay the price,” Su Yi’s third incarnation said casually. “But obviously, you didn’t take my words to heart, Ol’ Dragon.”
The Dragon-Headed Daoist hurriedly explained, “Your Eminence, earlier, I intervened purely out of consideration for you and our companions still trapped in the Abyssal Ruin!
“As I’m sure you know, if we capture Su Yi, all of us will be able to break free of the Path of the Ancient Gods! That aside…”
But before he could finish, Su Yi’s third incarnation said, “You know, this is the most detestable thing about you. I said it more than once. This enmity is between me and him alone!”
His eyes suddenly frosted over. “And just now, you almost ruined my plans!”
Terrifying murderous intent emanated from his body.
They weren’t far apart, so Su Yi could sense the fearsome pressure clearly. It was so intense that his skin went taut, and he felt a sharp pain in his soul, as if it had been stabbed!
“Don’t block it head-on. You’ll hurt yourself!” The River Lord suddenly appeared in front of Su Yi and explained, “You’ve become a god, but the disparity between you and him… is still far too enormous. Not even a Master God could withstand this pressure.”
“….” Su Yi didn’t know what to say. Don’t tell me my third incarnation is beyond a Master God? Has he stepped onto the River of Destiny too? If not, how could his mere aura be too much for Master Gods to endure?
As Su Yi pondered, he discovered that with the River Lord standing before him, his third incarnation’s imposing pressure really couldn’t affect him. This old-timer… isn’t simple either! Otherwise, how could he block my third incarnation’s power?
As Su Yi pondered, the Dragon-Headed Daoist lost his cool and broke out in cold sweats. He was facing that imposing pressure and murderous intent head-on, and it left him on the verge of a mental breakdown!
“Your Eminence, I’m willing to make amends. Please, show mercy!” The Dragon-Headed Daoist caved, lowered his head, and bitterly begged for mercy.
“I can give you an opportunity.” Su Yi’s third incarnation stopped in place. “I’ll use just thirty percent of my power. If you can block it, I’ll spare your life.”
The Dragon-Headed Daoist instantly looked stricken. How could he fail to realize what this meant? If he couldn’t block this attack, he was doomed.
His knees thudded to the ground, and he lowered his head. “Your Eminence, I know that I was wrong. Please, spare me!”
Su Yi couldn’t help but frown. My third incarnation is only going to use thirty percent of his strength, but that old-timer still isn’t confident he can defend himself?
“Stand up and attack me with all your might. Otherwise, I’ll kill you on the spot,” Su Yi’s third incarnation said coldly.
At that moment, he was like the sovereign of the heavens issuing a divine decree. His majesty was like the heavens. None could disobey!
The Dragon-Headed Daoist quivered from head to toe, but in the end, he gnashed his teeth and climbed to his feet.
A terrifying, ferocious aura spread from his body. It was indistinct, but it looked as if a massive flying serpent were coiled around him. It exhaled suns and moons and shattered the very void itself!
The old-timer’s true body is actually a flying serpent! And from the look of things, his cultivation base has long since surpassed the Master God level. He’s obviously reached a higher and far more terrifying level!
Su Yi’s gaze focused.
At his peak, his fifth incarnation, Li Fuyou, was in the late-stage Undying Realm. Based on his cultivation, he was a notch inferior to the Dragon-Headed Daoist.
“Attack.” His third incarnation placed his hands behind his back and stood there, unmoving.
Clang!
The Dragon-Headed Daoist drew the Dao Sword on his back, gnashed his teeth, and said, “My apologies, Your Eminence!”
His gaze had taken on a frenzied quality, as he knew that this was his only chance. If he couldn’t block, he’d die!
Given the circumstances, he naturally wouldn’t hold back.
He instantly unleashed a taboo divine ability that sacrificed its user’s life source, and his aura swelled. Fine golden scales shining with golden luster arose all over his skin, and a draconic horn sprouted from his forehead.
He gripped the sword with both hands, took a sudden step forward, raised his weapon, and swung with all his might.
Boom!!
Su Yi’s eyes stung. He couldn’t help but feel stunned. Even at his peak, Li Fuyou would have had to avoid this strike. He couldn’t have blocked it.
It was just too tyrannical!
But his third incarnation didn’t move.
At least, not until this strike was almost upon him. Then, he stretched out his hand and grabbed.
Bang!
He seized that incomparably sword qi, preventing it from descending.
The Dragon-Headed Daoist freaked out, then said in a quavering voice, “Your Eminence, does this count as blocking a single attack?”
This was a ludicrous scene. He was obviously the one who’d attacked, yet here he was, saying he’d blocked his opponent’s attack.
Even the River Lord couldn’t help but find it amusing.
“You tell me,” said Su Yi’s third incarnation. He slowly tightened his right hand.
Crunch! Crack!
That streak of sword qi split into pieces, inch by inch.
Immediately afterward, the Dragon-Headed Daoist’s sword crumbled in much the same way.
“No——!” The Dragon-Headed Daoist’s eyes bulged, and he cried out in terror, then turned to flee.
But the moment he turned around, he found that time and space had been sealed on all sides.
As Su Yi’s third incarnation slowly tightened his grip, the Dragon-Headed Daoist was as helpless as a worm held fast by a giant, invisible hand. The scales covering his skin popped and exploded, and his flesh, bones, and tendons contorted and burst beneath the pressure.
“Your Eminence, I….” The Dragon-Headed Daoist cried out as if to beg for mercy, but then, Su Yi’s third incarnation closed his fist.
Pop!
The Dragon-Headed Daoist’s body and soul collapsed simultaneously, and he scattered into a bloody mist in midair.
His terrified shriek came to an abrupt halt.
Su Yi’s eyes flashed, and his face filled with uncertainty. An existence beyond a Master God was snuffed out, just like that!
Most terrifying of all, his third incarnation was apparently only using thirty percent of his power! Who wouldn’t have been startled?
His third incarnation, meanwhile, acted as if he’d crushed a mere insect. He casually rubbed his fingers together, then waved his hand through the air.
All that remained of the Dragon-Headed Daoist was a bloody mist, but now, it too vanished in a puff of smoke.
“Do you understand the enormity of the gap between us now?” Su Yi’s third incarnation turned around and gazed coldly at him.
He wasn’t showing off his strength so much as using this vivid example to demonstrate a fact.
After a moment’s silence, Su Yi said, “Yes, and I’m glad of it. It wouldn’t be interesting otherwise!”
His third incarnation was stunned. He could see that Su Yi wasn’t the least bit panicked. On the contrary, he looked rather eager.
Especially the depths of his gaze; it glinted like the edge of a sword, and flashed with the will to fight!
His third incarnation fell silent.
He was a sword cultivator, so he couldn’t have been any more familiar with Su Yi’s current mentality. That was the look of someone longing to defeat their opponent!
That’s right. Recognizing the disparity between himself and his third incarnation didn’t panic Su Yi. On the contrary, it stimulated an unprecedentedly intense thirst for battle!
This was against his third incarnation’s predictions, and it made his heart stir.
A little while later, he subtly inclined his head. “Were we to fight at the same level, I’d be far inferior to you. Even if I were a Fortune Realm Greater God, I wouldn’t dare say with absolute confidence that I could beat you. But…”
Su Yi’s third incarnation looked at him solemnly. “As I said earlier, when I come looking for you next, I won’t concern myself with the disparity in our cultivations, nor will I get hung up on ‘fairness.’”
“No need to repeat yourself,” Su Yi said airily. “Relax. I naturally am not stupid enough to try and argue about fairness with you.”
His third incarnation nodded. “Live well. Don’t die before I come looking for you.”
With that, he turned and was just about to leave when Su Yi called out to him. “Wait.”
“Do you have business with me?” His third incarnation faced away from him and said, “I know you have questions, but you’ll naturally get answers after we’ve fought and determined a victor.”
“I’m not asking about any of that.” Su Yi shook his head.
“Then what do you want to do?” His third incarnation turned and frowned at him.
Su Yi took out a jug of wine and said, “Care for a drink?”
His third incarnation froze, stunned.
The River Lord was caught off guard, too. He had no idea what Su Yi was up to.
Su Yi laughed, then tossed the jug of wine to his third incarnation. “Thank you for intervening while I underwent tribulation. I know you weren’t doing it to save me, but even so… If I ever find myself in a similar position, I’ll be sure to intervene, too.”
His third incarnation’s gaze shifted inscrutably. He finally understood why Su Yi was offering him a drink.
Was he expressing his gratitude? Perhaps.
But more importantly, Su Yi was telling him that he’d do his third incarnation a good deed in turn. That way, he’d no longer owe him a debt!
His third incarnation smiled. How could an existence of his level possibly need Su Yi’s help?
But he didn’t make fun of Su Yi. Instead, he accepted the wine and said, “When kindnesses, enmities, rights, and wrongs get mixed up in drinking, it makes the wine tasteless and difficult to swallow. That said… I’ll accept this jug of wine! Then, after we’ve fought and determined a victor, I’ll drink every last drop with relish!”
Then, before his voice had even finished echoing through the air, he vanished from atop the sixth divine tower.
“You two… really are a lot alike!” the River Lord couldn’t help but sigh.
“And how do we compare to our first incarnation?” asked Su Yi.
The River Lord rolled his eyes and snapped, “Worry about that after you’ve defeated your third incarnation!”
“Tell me, then… is my third incarnation really a whetstone my first incarnation prepared for me?” Su Yi gazed intently at the River Lord.
The two of them were the only ones left here, and there were some questions he needed answers to.
The River Lord shook his head. “No.”
But then, he paused and sighed. “It’s all connected to the fate of reincarnation. All I can tell you is that if you lose to your third incarnation, you’ll become his whetstone instead!”
Su Yi’s eyebrows rose. “In other words, if I lose, he’ll replace me?”
The River Lord didn’t deny it. “You and him are ultimately the same person. Whoever loses will fuse fully with the victor!”
“And the key to this fusion lies in the Sword of the Nine Hells! Lose, and the remnant of will sealed within the Sword of the Nine Hells’ third divine chain will take over and replace you.
“Win, and your third incarnation’s Dao Imprint will fuse fully into your cultivation base!”
