Chapter 2132 – No One Can Guide My Path
Meanwhile, at the ruins of Heaven’s End Divine Mountain.
“Not even a grand tribulation like that could touch Fellow Daoist Su. I wonder how strong he is after becoming a god?” murmured Luo Xuanji.
That tribulation had been so grand and so taboo that it had thrown the entire Path of the Ancient Gods into upheaval. A tide of tribulation light had covered the dome of heaven. It was like the descent of the apocalypse.
She was the former ruler of a forbidden zone, but even she was incomparably nervous, and even she couldn’t help but sweat on Su Yi’s behalf.
Now, she could finally relax.
But then, the River Lord appeared out of nowhere. “I have to say, you’re a clever woman.”
Luo Xuanji froze, then her gaze focused, and she clasped her fist in greeting. “Why do you say that, Senior?”
The River Lord said expressionlessly, “If you hadn’t chosen to stand with Su Yi, there’s no way I’d save your brother.”
Ordinarily speaking, he was lewd and lustful. Every time he saw a beautiful woman, his eyes stuck to her like glue.
But even though Luo Xuanji was an unparalleled stunner, his gaze was cold and indifferent. He even seemed a bit repulsed!
Luo Xuanji noticed, and she even understood why the River Lord felt repulsed by her. It was simple. She was someone who’d fought her way out of a dying epoch civilization, crossing turbulent time and space to reach the present day. Of course the River Lord would be averse to her!
After all, he was the “god” of the River of Epochs, and it was his duty to watch over it and maintain order.
In the River Lord’s eyes, someone like Luo Xuanji was an anomaly.
But Luo Xuanji wasn’t concerned with that now. On the contrary, the River Lord’s statement filled her with excitement. “You plan to save my older brother, Senior?”
The River Lord snorted coldly. “Don’t get excited prematurely. First, you have to promise me something.”
“Please, speak directly.”
“You are not to get entangled in Su Yi’s affairs any further!” The River Lord said icily. “Don’t think I don’t know what you’re after. You’re gambling on the possibility that he can pave your way ahead, so let me tell you in no uncertain terms that you’re not worthy of that. You’re not destined to enjoy that good fortune!”
The blood silently drained from Luo Xuanji’s face, and her tall, thin frame quivered slightly. It was unclear whether this was because she was angry or because he’d seen through her.
A moment later, she took a deep breath, lowered her head, and said, “I won’t lie to you, Senior. When I first got acquainted with Fellow Daoist Su, it was just as you said. I wanted to establish a positive karmic tie in the hopes that Fellow Daoist Su could help me save my older brother.
“But after we got to know each other, I set those thoughts aside. I’ve long since started seeing him as my Fellow Daoist. Even if he can’t help me, I—”
The River Lord laughed coldly and interrupted her. “Enough. I don’t care what you’re thinking. You’ve already achieved your goal. Promise to leave Su Yi alone, and I’ll reunite you and your brother immediately!”
“I…” Luo Xuanji’s expression shifted erratically. She was obviously hesitating.
The River Lord watched on coldly.
A while later, Luo Xuanji gnashed her teeth, her conflicted expression giving way to staunch determination. “Senior, I’m afraid I’ll have to disappoint you!”
The River Lord’s expression darkened. “What do you mean?”
Luo Xuanji gazed calmly at him, then said slowly and carefully, “I won’t trade the friendship between me and Su Yi for anything! Not even if it means saving my brother.”
The River Lord’s brow furrowed, and his eyes flashed with murderous intent.
Luo Xuanji just stood there calmly, never once shrinking back.
In the end, the River Lord turned and walked into the distance. “Come with me.”
“Where are we going?” Luo Xuanji asked instinctively.
“I’m going to bring you to your brother, then lead you both out of the Path of the Ancient Gods,” said the River Lord. He didn’t even turn to look at her.
Luo Xuanji shook from head to toe, then lit up with delight and excitement. “Many thanks, Senior!”
The River Lord said nothing. Inwardly, he grumbled, An Undying Phoenix Race woman has gotten entangled with Su Yi. That’s bad news….
The Undying Phoenix Race! An ancient race cursed for their inauspicious nature!
Every last one of them had a destiny full of calamities and misfortune. They were like gods of plague. They themselves were unfortunate, and they shared their misfortune with everything they encountered!
The River Lord naturally didn’t want to see Luo Xuanji form any kind of relationship with Su Yi, but it was just as obvious that he knew he couldn’t interfere. At the same time, he wasn’t truly worried that Luo Xuanji’s misfortune would implicate Su Yi. Her calamitous karmic ties and disaster-riddled fate paled in comparison to Su Yi’s.
……
The seventh divine tower.
Su Yi overcame the seventh trial effortlessly and in a flash. Nothing unexpected happened. It was, after all, a trial intended for Limit Realm Mid-Rank Gods.
After overcoming the tower’s trials, Su Yi successfully defeated the supreme experts of past epochs.
Unlike the supreme experts of the sixth tower, these experts’ specialty lay in their utterly terrifying mental strength.
But Su Yi had never lost to anyone in a competition of mental strength before.
After overcoming the seventh tower, Su Yi received an unprecedented reward—A Heart-Refining Chaos Pearl!
This was a wondrous object of the Grand Dao that specifically refined and elevated someone’s mental strength. Such treasures were incomparably scarce.
Su Yi had fused with the Dao Imprints of multiple past lives, but throughout his lifetimes, he’d never encountered such a treasure before. Its value was completely inestimable!
After refining it, Su Yi sensed a wondrous transformation of his mentality. It was hard to describe. It was as if an invisible barrier now covered his heart. Even if enemies attacked him out of nowhere, this barrier would shield him from losing his composure!
This power is truly too wondrous for words, thought Su Yi. My third incarnation’s Dao Imprint is still sealed within the Sword of the Nine Hells. If it attacked suddenly, it might seize control of my body and soul temporarily, but it couldn’t shake or disrupt my heart!
Su Yi’s eyebrows suddenly rose. Could it be that my first incarnation prepared this reward for me specifically to prevent such things from happening? Is he trying to prevent me from losing control of my heart?
If so, does that imply that something of that nature is likely to happen?
In the end, Su Yi shook his head and gave the matter no further thought.
……
The eighth divine tower.
This was a test designed for Fortune Realm Greater Gods, but it wasn’t easy. Less than one in ten could smoothly overcome all of its trials.
However, now that Su Yi had stepped into divinity, these trials weren’t even worth mentioning.
It was only upon reaching the top of the eighth divine tower that Su Yi finally encountered a worthwhile opponent.
Here, he needed to defeat five supreme Greater Gods of bygone epochs!
“Die!” Su Yi attacked directly.
Boom!
His qi rumbled and boomed throughout his body. Every last inch of his skin flowed with a mysterious and inscrutable rain of chaos light.
Within his body, his boundless Sea of Chaos churned. The lantern manifested of the Epoch Spark erupted with a resplendent rain of light.
Within his soul, his Divine Dao Avatar formed a magic seal.
In that moment, his body, soul, and cultivation base fused perfectly into one.
Su Yi waved his hand through the air, and a streak of chaos-like sword qi whooshed forth, interwoven with the mysterious and imposing power of the Laws.
Bang!!
His opponent was sent flying backward.
He was a supreme expert amongst Fortune Realm Greater Gods. His cultivation base was incomparably terrifying. Ren Beiyou, Wen Xiao, and the other Greater Gods couldn’t compare to him at all.
Even so, a single strike had sent him flying!
Su Yi’s eyes lit up, and he charged into the fray. Not bad! He can block my attacks even now that I’ve become a god. He really is among the mightiest Greater Gods in history.
Right now, he needed nothing more than an opportunity to gauge his combat strength post-breakthrough!
Moments later…
Boom!
Sword light flashed through the air, and his opponent’s body split into pieces and scattered into a rain of light.
It’s true. It’d be hard for any opponent beneath the Undying Realm Master God level to threaten me anymore… thought Su Yi. I just wonder what levels of Master God I’m capable of fighting…
The Divine Dao was divided into the Creation, Limit, Fortune, and Undying Realms.
Undying Realm experts stood at the pinnacle, so they were known as Master Gods!
The Undying Realm was unique. Its experts had to overcome a trial known as “the Nine Dao-Refining Tribulations.”
Each tribulation they overcame boosted their strength to the next level. Thus, in the God Domain, Master Gods’ strength was typically measured by how many tribulations they’d overcome.
A One-Tribulation Master God had overcome one Dao-Refining Tribulation, and so on and so forth.
A Nine-Tribulation Master God was at the pinnacle of the Undying Realm, a supreme expert amongst Master Gods!
As Su Yi pondered all this, his second opponent appeared.
……
Enough time to brew a cup of tea later, Su Yi had defeated his second, third, fourth, and fifth opponents!
Throughout the process, Su Yi never suffered any injuries. Ultimately, as heaven-defying as they were, they weren’t much of a threat to him.
After overcoming this challenge, Su Yi gained a deeper understanding of his current abilities.
His path of divinity really was unique, as he had no Godhead. Instead, he had a Sea of Chaos illuminated by the Epoch Spark!
Moreover, over the past few months, the Epoch Spark had refined numerous Godheads!
Some, Su Yi acquired in the Deification Star Sea. Others he’d collected from the corpses of fallen enemies.
After the Epoch Spark refined them, it absorbed their Epoch laws. These Epoch Laws were now under Su Yi’s control.
This alone was enough to violate a taboo and the ironclad rules of nature. This was a true Transgression!
Other Gods could, at most, condense a single Godhead and master a single Epoch Law. Even though they could grasp other powers of the Grand Dao, their Godhead was still their foundation in the Grand Dao.
But Su Yi was different. His Chaos Sea could refine and manifest all manner of Epoch Laws!
Moreover, as he acquired more Godheads, he’d be able to master more and more Epoch Laws!
Simply put, other gods were gods of a single Dao, while he was a god of all Daos!
Setting aside the difference in his foundations, Su Yi’s body and soul were starkly different too. Both hid enormous mysteries.
Even though Su Yi had Li Fuyou’s experiences and knowledge of the Divine Dao, Su Yi would need to explore and uncover his own abilities one step at a time. Only then could he truly master them.
After all, his path to divinity was starkly different from that of his past lives!
He could use his past lives’ experience for reference, but he still had to find his own path.
No one else would be able to guide his cultivation from here on out!
