Chapter 2181 – The Qilin Trading Company
Boom!
The skies caved in, and divine radiance erupted.
The tall, stalwart man’s palm strike was full of terrifying Laws of the Divine Dao, and its destructive power was incomparably startling.
In the face of this strike, Su Yi just stood there, unmoving save for his right hand. He raised it into the air and tapped.
The ten-thousand-foot illusory Torch Dragon behind him let out an ancient, inscrutable draconic roar.
A curtain of darkness instantly blanketed the sky and blotted out the sun. It was as if all of heaven and earth had been plunged into an eternal night.
It blocked the tall, stalwart man’s senses, rendering him effectively blind and deaf. His heart and soul felt as if they’d been plunged into an abyss of endless darkness, and invisible power restricted his body. He couldn’t even struggle.
A suffocating wave of helplessness and despair washed over him. His expression shifted dramatically, and he panicked. What kind of ability is this!?
The way the dark-robed man and the others saw it, it was as if the stalwart man had frozen in place, unable to move a muscle. Even the palm strike he’d unleashed silently dissipated.
All of this seemed incomparably strange.
But before the crowd could react——
Boom!
Su Yi waved his sleeves through the air, and his unmoving opponent exploded. Even his soul dissipated. He was like a soulless puppet, unresponsive even in the face of death, and destroyed in a single strike!
The crowd was unwittingly horrified, and their faces visibly paled.
That tall, stalwart man had been a peak Creation Realm Lesser God, yet now, he’d been as ineffectual as an ant trying to shake a tree. He’d died brutally on the spot!
When they next looked at Su Yi, they saw him standing there, an illusory Torch Dragon circling above his head. The darkness emanating from him was like a curtain of night shrouding and obscuring the dome of heaven.
His ferocious majesty struck terror into their hearts.
“You…” The dark-robed man opened his mouth to say something, when…
Whoosh!
Su Yi flashed through the air, then shot into the distance.
His voice emanated from afar. “I said that if he attacked me, it would end with his death. If you insist on pursuing me…. This won’t end until I’m dead, or until I’ve killed you all!”
The gods of the Severed Heavens Demon Court were enraged, and just about to give chase when the man in dark robes bellowed, “Don’t!”
He gnashed his teeth, his face ashen. “That guy isn’t Su Yi. He really is an expert of the Torch Dragon lineage. Earlier, he used their unique divine ability, the Curtain of the Silent Night. Only a Torch Dragon expert can use it, and there’s no faking it, either.”
“He… He killed Elder Wen. Are we really just going to let that go?” someone roared in fury.
That Torch Dragon had killed one of their allies right in front of them despite knowing full well that they were from the Severed Heavens Divine Court. Xiao Jian was obviously frenzied and insane!!
“The Torch Dragons’ foundations are incomparably ancient. Xiao Jian wouldn’t have dared kill one of our allies if he didn’t have reason to be confident.” The man in dark robes took a deep breath and said, “Report this incident to the sect and let them handle it. Xiao Jian has a Torch Dragon bloodline, and on top of that, he plans to join Qingwu Divine Court. It won’t be at all difficult for the sect to deal with him.”
The others mulled that over, then nodded. It was true. Chasing Xiao Jian would do them no good. Worse, it would put them in unpredictable peril. The dangers far outweighed the rewards.
Someone smiled and seized the chance to flatter him. “Senior Apprentice Wang Teng, you really live up to your reputation. You’ve thought this through far more thoroughly than us.”
“Thoroughly? No. I just don’t want us to risk our lives unnecessarily.” The dark-robed man, the one they called Wang Teng, shook his head. “More importantly, I can say with certainty that the Umbrella of Tribulations sensed the Sword of Proximity earlier!”
He scanned the surrounding area. “Su Yi might well be hidden nearby without us realizing it!”
The crowd couldn’t help but jump in fright at the mere idea of it. That was indeed a possibility!
Who could forget that Su Yi was the reincarnation of both the Swordmaster of Spiritual Desolation and Sword Demon Yi Daoxuan of the Endless Ocean?
Given his abilities, it was entirely possible that he could hide himself and elude their notice!
The thought left many of the gods ill at ease. One of them asked, “Senior Apprentice Brother Wang Teng, what do you think we should do next?”
“There’s nothing to fear,” Wang Teng said with confidence. “I’m not worried about him hiding. I’m just worried he’ll be too afraid to show himself again. Let’s just wait and see!”
……
They actually didn’t chase me?
Su Yi was now deep within an uncultivated stretch of mountains. He couldn’t help but find the situation surprising.
He’d been all but certain that they’d give chase. He’d planned to find a secluded place to wipe them all out and seize the Umbrella of Tribulations.
But against all expectations, they didn’t even try to pursue him!
Forget it. I’ll just have to find another opportunity to get my hands on the umbrella, thought Su Yi.
The Nine Mysteries of Chaos were born of the Immortal Realm’s chaos source.
The first among them, the Writing Brush of Genesis, was the most mysterious. It had vanished immediately upon its inception, and none knew its whereabouts. It now existed only in fleeting rumors.
The second among them, the Blade of Heaven’s Loathing, had been claimed, and its owner had left the Immortal Realm a long time ago.
The third of the nine treasures, the Sword of Proximity, belonged to Su Yi.
The Sky-Covering Boat, Yin-Yang Diagram, and Realm-Demarcating Ruler, Li Fuyou had given to his disciples.
Su Yi had given the Book of Karma to the Divine Fortune Teller.
The remaining treasures, the Sky-Stealing Hook and Umbrella of Tribulations, had been taken from the Immortal Realm a long time ago, too.
But not even Su Yi could have guessed that the Umbrella of Tribulations had fallen into the Severed Heavens Demon Court’s hands.
Now that he knew, Su Yi would naturally claim it for his own!
The Nine Mysteries of Chaos were born of the Immortal Realm’s source. Each had wondrous, mystical power. They were far greater than your average Epoch Treasure.
Even Nine-Tribulation Master Gods like the Dipankara Buddha drooled over the Book of Karma. They’d tried to claim it on numerous occasions!
And the Sword of Proximity’s killing power was all the more terrifying. When Su Yi combined his cultivation base with the powers of the Sword of Proximity, his combat strength increased significantly!
Raw power aside, the sword could disregard distance. With it, enemies at the ends of the earth were close at hand. It was heaven-defying!
Su Yi had learned about the Umbrella of Tribulations from the Book of Karma. He knew that it too was incomparably wondrous. It seemed capable of influencing someone’s destiny and fortune!
Powers of the Grand Dao relating to destiny, fortune, karma, and fate were always the most terrifying of all.
Unfortunately, if Su Yi wanted to avoid revealing his identity, he had to keep a low profile and let those Demonist cultivators go for now.
The Umbrella of Tribulations has appeared. Are the Sky-Stealing Hook and the Blade of Heaven’s Loathing in the God Domain too?
And what about the Writing Brush of Genesis? Does it even really exist?
Would some sort of unbelievable transformation occur if I gathered all nine of the Mysteries of Chaos at once?
As Su Yi pondered, he continued on his way.
Two days later, he saw the outline of a massive, ancient city in the distance.
The massive city was built between the mountains, and it stretched as far as the eye could see. A dense air of the red dust of mundanity hung over the city.
Someone using a qi observation technique would have realized immediately that the city had stood for a long, long time, and that it was incomparably prosperous, with an enormous population!
Only a city as vast and populated as this could create the churning aura of red dust now reflected in the sky.
This was Spring and Autumn City!
It was one of the most famous, prosperous cities in the entire Southern Flame Divine Continent, and it was a gathering point for experts from all over the world. There were gods and immortals all over the place!
“Go on.” Su Yi waved the little monkey away.
The little monkey, now in sparrow form, said, “Master, I’ll be waiting for you in the Endless Ocean.”
With that, he beat his wings and set off, whooshing through the air.
Su Yi watched the little monkey fade from view before retracting his gaze.
Night was fast approaching. He planned to find a place to get settled in, then register to participate in the Spring and Autumn Assembly tomorrow.
Spring and Autumn City was incomparably lively. Even as night drew near, countless streaks of brilliant light coursed through the skies, flying in from all directions.
But when they reached the city gates, everyone, no matter their background or cultivation base, suppressed their aura and entered the city on foot.
These were the city’s rules. No one was permitted to fly over the city. Those who broke the rules were executed without mercy!
Not even Master Gods were exempt.
This rule had been set by the city’s rulers, the Qilin Trading Company.
The Qilin Trading Company was one of the three legendary trading companies of the God Domain. Its foundations were incomparably ancient; they could be traced back to the first days of the God Domain!
They had branches throughout the Four Great Divine Continents, and they were backed by the Qilin Race.
The Qilin Race were a top faction in the Eastern Victory Divine Continent.
It was they who’d first founded Spring and Autumn City in the Southern Flame Divine Continent. It had stood throughout the ages, changing and growing to reach its current state.
This was the Qilin Trading Company’s largest base of operations in the Southern Flame Divine Continent.
Thus, everyone who entered the city, no matter their origins, had to rein it in and behave themselves in Spring and Autumn City. No one dared act up.
After all, the Qilin Race’s influence extended throughout the God Domain. They were mightier than even some peak factions!
It’s worth mentioning that the Qilin Trading Company’s position in the God Domain was unique and transcendent; they’d never participated in conflicts between orthodoxies.
The trading company’s only goal was to earn money. They didn’t engage in anything else.
Su Yi planned to take a trip to the local branch of the Qilin Trading Company while he was here and see if he could find recovery medicines not typically on the market.
Soon, night fell, and lamps lit throughout the city, as resplendent as a fire dragon. The streets were still packed and boisterous with carts and human traffic.
Here, lifeforms of countless different races co-existed, and the sound of hawkers rose and fell in waves. It was the very picture of worldly prosperity.
Su Yi walked alone amidst the hubbub, in robes whiter than snow. When he took in the lively city streets, he couldn’t help but feel a bit dazed.
It had been a long time since he’d walked alone through the world of red dust.
When he set aside his grudges and enmities and walked leisurely through the bustling streets, an altogether different feeling arose in his heart.
He quickly found a restaurant and took a seat near the window. There, he watched the bustling human traffic come and go as he feasted and drank. His mind emptied, and his heart was at peace.
So what if you were a god or immortal? If you couldn’t sever the seven emotions and six desires of mortals, you couldn’t give up on the trappings of the mundane world.
Su Yi had always enjoyed the world of mortals. Even though this wasn’t really the Human Realm, he could still see the world of red dust in all its facets.
There was no end to the hustle and bustle.
