Chapter 2225 – The Truth Revealed
Divine Abyss City was a first-rate, prosperous, ancient city by the standards of the Spirit Firmament Divine Continent. The Qilin Trading Company had a branch here, too.
Numerous figures were clustered around the ancient platform. They’d been waiting there for quite some time. The leader was an old man in brocade robes.
When they saw Su Yi and the others appear in the formation, the old man and his subordinates bowed in greeting to Qi Wei.
The sheer spectacle and momentum left many of the others stunned. What prestige this Madam Qi Wei has!
“No need to be so polite,” said Qi Wei, stepping out of the formation. “Have you taken care of the task I entrusted you with?”
The old man in brocade was the manager of the Divine Abyss City branch of the Qilin Trading Company. His name was Fan Huasheng.
He said respectfully, “Everything has been arranged in accordance with your orders, Young Mistress.”
“Excellent. Arrange a place for us to rest, first,” ordered Qi Wei.
“Wait,” said Ku Zhen. “Now that we’ve reached the Spirit Firmament Divine Continent, we’d best be on our way.”
Qi Wei glanced at him. “What are you in such a hurry for? I’ve already asked them to arrange a banquet and a temporary residence. We’ve got people gathering information regarding the Xi Family’s situation, too. Even if you leave now, where will you go?”
Grand Elder Wei Zhong chimed in, too. “She’s right. This isn’t the Southern Flame Divine Continent, and we’re unfamiliar with the local situation. It would naturally be just wonderful if Madam Qi Wei could assist us.”
Ku Zhen clamped his jaw shut, a dark look on his aged face.
Su Yi couldn’t help but find the situation entertaining. On the surface, Ku Zhen was here on account of the situation with the Xi Family, but in truth, he was after “Xiao Jian.”
But it was obvious that between Qi Wei and the grand elder, he’d yet to find his chance!
In the end, Ku Zhen compromised.
That very day, the group received the extraordinarily lavish hospitality of the Qilin Trading Company. Everything they ate and drank was a supreme delicacy of the Spirit Firmament Divine Continent.
The sheer lavishness and grandeur broadened even Ku Zhen and Wei Zhong’s horizons.
When the banquet ended, each of them was given a top-quality pavilion to stay in. They weren’t just meticulously furnished, either. Each had been equipped with a Spirit-Gathering Formation, making them comparable to blessed grounds for cultivation!
When they learned that these accommodations typically cost one hundred pieces of Undying Divine Gold a night, both Wei Zhong and Ku Zhen fell silent, and much of the effects of the night’s drinks wore off.
Qi Wei went to Su Yi’s pagoda and said between sips of tea, “The Three Purities Daoist Court has yet to announce precisely when they’ll march upon the Xi Family.
“However, I can say with certainty that they haven’t just sealed off the Xi Family’s home base. They’ve seized control over the Xi Family’s forces and bases throughout the Spirit Firmament Divine Continent, too!
“In other words, the Xi Family really is no different from a fish on the chopping block. Their lives and deaths are entirely in the hands of the Three Purities Daoist Court.
“Many of the Spirit Firmament Divine Continent’s top factions are ready and waiting. The moment the Three Purities Daoist Court gives the orders, this brewing storm targeting the Xi Family will erupt in full force!”
Qi Wei paused to take a sip of tea and clear her throat before continuing.
Su Yi just sat there, listening in silence. He suddenly realized that the situation was even more severe than he’d thought.
The ancient Xi Family was like a lamb awaiting slaughter, while the Three Purities Daoist Court had already raised the butcher’s knife.
Now, the world was just waiting to see when they struck the killing blow!
“The Three Purities Daoist Court is the unquestioned ruler of the Spirit Firmament Divine Province, and they’ve planned this operation meticulously. Saving the ancient Xi Family will be far, far too difficult!” said Qi Wei. “According to our most accurate intelligence, the Xi Family is beset by internal conflict. Many of the clan’s higher-ups have chosen to surrender in the hope of survival.”
“Surrender?” Su Yi’s brow furrowed.
“They’re lambs awaiting slaughter. What can they do but submit and beg for their lives?” Qi Wei sighed. “That is, unless Su Yi steps forth to bear the brunt of this.”
She gazed intently at Su Yi, then smiled. “But the Qilin Race won’t just sit back and watch this happen. Now, I’ll simply ask you this. What do you plan to do, Fellow Daoist Xiao?”
“Wait,” said Su Yi.
“Wait?” Qi Wei looked confused.
“I want to see who loses their cool first,” Su Yi said casually. “Su Yi or the Three Purities Daoist Court.”
“The Three Purities Daoist Court has rallied such an enormous force. If they don’t see Su Yi, how awkward will they feel? And how will the world see them?
“Thus, I can say with certainty that the Three Purities Daoist Court will provide a clear deadline in hopes of making Su Yi step forth before the allotted time runs out. That way, even if Su Yi doesn’t show up, the Three Purities Daoist Court can go ahead and attack the Xi Family while preserving their reputations.”
Qi Wei’s eyes flashed, and she sighed with admiration. “Your vision is far-reaching indeed, Fellow Daoist Xiao. Impressive.”
It was true. The Three Purities Daoist Court had gone to great lengths to set up this trap, but if Su Yi didn’t show up, it’d be as worthless as farts!
“Then keep waiting.” Qi Wei rose, then said, “I’ll send the forces of the Qilin Trading Company to keep tabs on the situation and compile a list of the factions cooperating with the Three Purities Daoist Court on this operation. Later, we’ll get even with them one by one!”
Su Yi was stunned. The storm has yet to descend, but this woman is already planning how she’ll seek retribution? Ruthless!
But then, her courage and conduct are quite endearing.
After Qi Wei left, Su Yi sat there alone, deep in thought.
……
Over the next few days, Qi Wei delivered fresh information to Su Yi, Wei Zhong, and Ku Zhen on a daily basis.
It was really no exaggeration to say that the whole God Domain was paying attention to this operation targeting the Xi Family.
Over the past few days, experts of the top factions of the Ancient Nirvana, Eastern Victory, and Southern Flame Divine Continents had rushed over.
The wind was rising and the clouds were gathering throughout the Spirit Firmament Divine Continent. A massive storm was brewing.
Even countless Master Gods were startled into action. All of them were watching the long-brewing storm with rapt attention!
But against all expectations, the Three Purities Daoist Court still showed no sign of attacking, nor did they announce a date for the cleansing of the Xi Family.
It seemed they were still waiting for something.
That evening, Qi Wei was out, so there were only three people in the dining room: Wei Zhong, Ku Zhen, and Su Yi.
Su Yi seemed like he was leisurely sipping wine, but in truth, he was contemplating inviting the third elder out for a private chat and just giving him a chance to attack.
After all, having the old-timer around would interfere with everything that came next. Better to just send the old man on his way and get it over with. Giving Ku Zhen an opening to attack meant giving himself an opportunity to get rid of him, too.
He’d only just thought this when the third elder’s voice transmitted directly into his ears. “Vice Palace Master Xiao, after the banquet, let’s take a trip outside, just the two of us. We’ll meet outside Divine Abyss City’s eastern gate tonight.”
Outwardly, Su Yi’s expression didn’t so much as waver. Inwardly, he thought, What a coincidence! The old-timer’s plans line up perfectly with mine!
“Alright,” Su Yi transmitted back.
Ku Zhen was eating and drinking not far away. When he heard that, he was stunned. That kid seriously agreed so straightforwardly? Doesn’t he know that if he leaves with me, the Qilin Trading Company won’t be able to protect him anymore?
Ku Zhen mulled that over, then transmitted, “Remember, this is an internal affair of Wandering Night Palace. You are not to alert the grand elder or let Qi Wei find out. If you do, I’ll punish you severely in accordance with the sect’s rules!”
“Rest assured, Third Elder,” Su Yi said before taking a sip of wine.
Grand Elder Wei Zhong dined not far away, but he was completely unaware of their conversation.
When the banquet ended, Su Yi went back to his residence. It was only after night fell that he set off on his own.
When he reached the eastern gate of the city, he saw that Third Elder Ku Zhen was already waiting there for him.
“What are we here to do, Third Elder?” asked Su Yi.
“Just come with me.” Third Elder Ku Zhen glanced coldly at Su Yi before shooting into the distance.
Su Yi smiled and followed him.
Enough time to burn a stick of incense later, they arrived in a barren stretch of mountain wilderness. The night was dark and heavy, and black clouds obscured the moonless, starless dome of heaven.
It was here that Ku Zhen came to an abrupt halt and turned around to look at Su Yi. An unreadable look appeared on his cold, aged face. “Xiao Jian, if I’m not mistaken, you’ve already guessed what I’ve called you out here to do?
Su Yi looked around, then said softly, “Dark, windy nights are ideal for killing. Seems to me that you want me dead, Third Elder.”
Ku Zhen frowned. Xiao Jian is too calm. He doesn’t look the least bit scared!!
“No, I just want to gain a further understanding of your background,” Ku Zhen said indifferently. “The sect leader commanded that if there’s nothing amiss, I am to leave you a path to life, but if there’s really an issue… this wilderness shall become your grave.”
Su Yi laughed. “No need to investigate. Just go ahead and attack me, Third Elder.’l
Ku Zhen was stunned. “So you admit it!?”
“Even if I hadn’t, would you really have let this go, Third Elder?” asked Su Yi.
Ku Zhen fell silent, his expression shifting and uncertain.
“Ku Zhen, why are you hesitating? Just attack him! There’s no way that kid can overturn the heavens with me here!”
Suddenly, a tall, thin figure emerged from the distant wilderness. He was imposing, with a prominent mustache, coppery skin, and eyes that flashed like lightning.
High Elder Yuan Shan! A Two-Tribulation Master God of Qingwu Divine Court!
They said his true body was a primordial divine ape with endless physical strength and incomparably ferocious power.
Su Yi narrowed his eyes and said, “Just as I thought. No wonder you didn’t want to take the Qilin Trading Company’s transfer array here. So, you’d arranged for an old monkey to follow us in secret.”
An old monkey? Yuan Shan’s brow furrowed. How dare a junior look down on me like that?
“Xiao Jian, since you plan to just give up the ruse anyway, why not tell us who you are, and who sent you to infiltrate Qingwu Divine Court?” Ku Zhen asked gravely, his gaze icy and ferocious.
This time, however, Su Yi was actually startled. He exclaimed, “You mean even after all this time, you still don’t know who I am!?”
Ku Zhen couldn’t help but laugh derisively. “You’re just a Lesser God. Don’t tell me you’re someone extraordinary?”
He’d personally tested Xiao Jian’s strength, and he knew that this young man’s cultivation base was the real thing!
High Elder Yuan Shan laughed too, his gaze cold, cruel, and derisive. “Why not tell us your origins and see if they’re enough to scare us?”
