Chapter 1067: 1066 You left, what am I supposed to do?

Weekend, Qin Mu and An Lin came back to G City together to see Haofeng.

Originally, Mother Luo planned to come to G City to take Haofeng home, but on Friday night, she called and asked Haofeng to return later.

At noon, Haofeng, who had been eating at the hospital, went to Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion with everyone.

During the meal, Qin Mu curiously asked, “Ah Feng, you mentioned just now that your aunt doesn’t let you go back now because of the Qi Family, right?”

“Yes.”

Haofeng had food in his mouth, merely uttering an affirmation, and after swallowing his food, he elaborated, “The Qi Family people don’t want Meiling to stay in the hospital, they want her to move into my house.”

Wen Ran was stunned, his action of picking up food halted, as his clear eyes intently stared at Haofeng.

Mo Xiuchen glanced at Haofeng and considerately served food to Wen Ran, listening to Haofeng saying, “My mom is unwilling, so she asked me not to come back for now.”

“Weren’t the contracts between your two families terminated?”

Gu Kai casually interjected.

“That was just the most recent collaboration. Because of this, Meiling’s brother even warned my mom. He’s foolish; he knows my mom hates being coerced the most, and the more they act this way, the more my mom wants to get rid of Meiling.”

Haofeng spoke with heavy sarcasm. His mom had never been a kind person, mainly because of the Qi Family’s attitude, which really put her off.

Mo Xiuchen slightly curved his lips, taking over the conversation, “The fallout would be for the best.”

“Yes, but this matter can’t be rushed. Now that the Qi Family is making a fuss, Ah Feng, it might be time for you to make a stand. You can’t let people think you’re heartless, abandoning Meiling just because she has become a vegetative person.”

Qin Mu thoughtfully furrowed his brow.

Haofeng thought for a moment, then said, “Yes, I was thinking the same thing, let the Qi Family stir things up a bit more.” He turned his head and asked Mo Xiuchen, “Mo Xiuchen, aren’t you sending someone to take charge of the branch there?”

“Mo Zixuan said he would go.”

Mo Xiuchen shrugged his shoulders, answering nonchalantly.

“Isn’t Mo Zixuan staying in G City to take care of Zhou Lin and her daughter?”

Gu Kai raised his eyebrow, inserting a piece of fish into his mouth, Qin Mu picked up the cup in front of him, elegantly taking a sip of water, slowly saying, “Why don’t I go? The Qi Family is really worked up right now, Mo Zixuan going over might not be smooth.”

“Qin Mu, if you go, what about me?”

An Lin blurted out, causing everyone to turn their gaze towards her.

As soon as she spoke, she realized her words could be misunderstood, and seeing everyone looking at her, she blushed.

Qin Mu’s handsome eyebrows frowned as he turned to look at An Lin.

“What I mean is, if you leave, I’ll be alone in City C, and I can’t handle everything.” An Lin was quick to regain her composure as Qin Mu looked her way, her expression and tone returned to normal immediately.

“What can’t you handle?”

“Qin Mu, you stay in City C. For the City B issue, I will make other arrangements,” Mo Xiuchen’s deep eyes paused on An Lin for a half-second, speaking calmly.

“I think Mo Zixuan going is fine,” Wen Ran voiced his opinion, “Zhou Lin can manage Tiantian by herself. Mo Zixuan is with Zhou Lin every day, and there’s no progress in their relationship. Sending him away for a while might make him realize the importance of Zhou Lin and Tiantian.”

“Yes.”

Mo Xiuchen smiled faintly, showing agreement to Wen Ran’s suggestion.

And thus, the topic of Qin Mu going to City B concluded.

When they were halfway through the meal, Gu Kai’s phone rang, and he took it out to see who was calling, his eyes flickering.

“Ah Kai, it isn’t Fang Zhi Wei calling to check on you, is it?” Wen Jin glanced at Gu Kai’s phone, teasing with a smile.

“No,” Gu Kai pursed his lips, pressed the answer button, and spoke in a deep voice, “Hello.”

He didn’t know what the person on the other side said, but he saw the color in Gu Kai’s eyes change, and Mo Yi’s lips tightened, “Alright, I understand now.”

“Did something happen to a patient?”

Qin Mu looked at Gu Kai with concern. After he finished the call, something was off.

“If it were a matter concerning a patient, Ah Kai wouldn’t still be sitting here.” Wen Jin squinted his eyes, sitting close to Gu Kai. Just now, he faintly heard a voice from his phone, saying something about a “99.9 percent similarity”…

Looking at Gu Kai’s expression, could it be that he had undergone a DNA test?

“I have to go,” Wen Jin said, and Gu Kai suddenly stood up from his chair.

He spoke and without waiting for anyone else to speak, he quickly left the private room, leaving everyone else watching the door in confusion.

“What’s wrong with my brother?” Wen Ran watched the door, puzzled, while Gu Kai had already disappeared.

“Don’t worry, it must be something important. We can call him later tonight.”

Mo Xiuchen comforted Wen Ran and served her more food, “Eat some more.”

Gu Kai stepped out of Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion, and a wave of heat hit him; he strode towards the parking lot, but the phone call he had just received echoed in his ears.

“Ah Kai, the results are out… 99.9 percent similarity…”

He didn’t need to hear the rest of the sentence to know what that meant. Thinking about it, he took a deep breath.

He involuntarily clenched his fists tightly.

That dead woman, Bai Yiyi, she actually deceived him, and even wanted to keep his child for herself. To dispel his doubts, she had claimed that Tongtong was her and Li En’s daughter.

He took out his phone but before he could dial, he changed his mind and put it back in his pocket.

Once in the car, Gu Kai sat in the driver’s seat, hands on the steering wheel, somehow feeling calmer.

He didn’t start the car immediately but leaned forward, resting his upper body on the steering wheel, his face in deep thought. Everything Bai Yiyi did was probably because she feared he would take Tongtong away.

Before he had decided what to do next, his phone rang.

Gu Kai took out his phone and saw Fang Zhi Wei’s name, and he closed his eyes in frustration. The phone rang several times before he pressed the answer button, his voice returning to its gentle tone, “Hello, Zhi Wei.”

“Ah Kai, my car broke down on the road…”

“Wait there for Feng; I’ll come to pick you up right away.”

After Fang Zhi Wei finished speaking, Gu Kai reassured her soothingly, “Don’t worry, first call for a tow truck, I’ll be there in about twenty minutes.”

After hanging up, Gu Kai rubbed his forehead, fastened his seatbelt, started the car, and hit the road.

In the hospital room

Bai Yiyi suddenly felt her eyelids twitching incessantly, her brow furrowed, a feeling of unease arising inside her.

On the hospital bed, Tongtong was happily playing with her Barbie doll, babbling something, and beside her on the bedsheet, lay a discarded syringe.

This syringe had become her new toy these past couple of days.

She didn’t know if all children liked to play like this, but since yesterday, Tongtong had taken a liking to playing with the syringe.

She even did it quite well, holding the syringe as she pretended to give her Barbie doll injections.
