Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict
Chapter 1077: 1076 truly is worthy of being siblingsChapter 1077: 1076 truly is worthy of being siblings
Wen Ran came out of the restroom and received a call from Bai Yiyi.
She had sent a message to Mo Xiuchen, then went to the ward to find Bai Yiyi.
“Yiyi, has Li En left?”
Wen Ran walked to the bedside, sat down on the chair in front of the bed, and gently took Tongtong’s hand. Tongtong’s other hand was hooked up to an IV drip, and upon being held, she immediately broke into a smile.
“Elder Brother Li just left a moment ago,” Bai Yiyi came over following Wen Ran and sat down on the edge of the bed before answering her question.
Wen Ran slightly smiled and, looking at Bai Yiyi, said, “That day, when my brother was holding Tongtong, I had this strange feeling. I never imagined Tongtong and he would actually have the closest blood relationship.”
Bai Yiyi’s eyes flickered, and she held Tongtong tightly in her arms, her smile a bit stiff: “Ranran, I didn’t mean to hide it from you all on purpose.”
“I know. Don’t worry, I’m not here to blame you. Actually, I’m really happy that Tongtong is my niece. Yiyi, I still don’t know what my brother thinks. Has he told you anything?”
Wen Ran tenderly touched Tongtong’s cheek and asked gently.
Bai Yiyi pursed her lips and answered gloomily, “He set three conditions, saying that if I agreed to them, he wouldn’t fight with me for Tongtong.”
“Oh, what conditions?”
Wen Ran raised her eyebrows, curious, and looked at Bai Yiyi.
“He wants Tongtong to take the Gu surname, forbids me from leaving G City, and the last one is for me to never marry in my whole life.”
As Bai Yiyi pronounced these conditions, her voice was rather calm, and she laughed at herself, “Actually, I never really thought about getting married. After finding out I was pregnant, I just thought that having a son or a daughter with me would be enough.”
Wen Ran’s eyes widened in surprise, “My brother actually won’t let you marry?”
Was her brother making things difficult for Bai Yiyi because he was angry about her secrecy, or because he wanted her to give up Tongtong’s custody?
Bai Yiyi nodded emphatically, “Yes, that’s what he said, and I’m prepared to agree to his conditions. As long as Tongtong stays by my side, nothing else matters.”
She had thought it over all of last night.
Originally, she didn’t want Tongtong to take the Gu surname; after all, she hadn’t planned on sharing her daughter with anyone before this.
But compared to Tongtong, the surname didn’t seem so important anymore. If Gu Kai really decided to fight her for custody, she didn’t know how sure she could be of winning. The power of the Gu Family was not something she could match.
Gu Kai was not a kind person; she believed that if he got angry, he would certainly fight her for Tongtong.
“What happened this morning?”
Wen Ran hesitated but still voiced the doubt in her heart.
She truly did not have a good impression of Li En, especially after he had attacked her brother twice—Wen Ran had already taken a strong dislike to Li En.
“The morning incident,” Bai Yiyi spoke, her voice carrying a hint of apology, “Elder Brother Li got angry when he heard that Tongtong was going to take Gu Kai’s surname.”
“Yiyi, there’s something I have to say, and you might get angry. But I still want to say it, don’t get too close to that Li En. He gives me a strange feeling.”
Wen Ran knit her brows lightly, pondering in her heart how to express her feelings about Li En.
Bai Yiyi was taken aback for a moment and, thinking of Gu Kai’s warning, couldn’t help but laugh: “Ranran, you and Gu Kai really are siblings. Is it because Elder Brother Li attacked your brother twice that you dislike him so much?”
Wen Ran shook her head, reflecting and speaking: “No, before he fought with my brother, I already felt there was something odd about him. Yiyi, did you know about Li En investigating Tongtong’s background?”
“Elder Brother Li told me that day,” Wen Ran said with some hesitation.
Tongtong reached out with her little hand to lift Bai Yiyi’s clothes, and she smiled, lifting her shirt to nurse her.
“A few months ago, Li En asked to meet with me and told me that once he found out who Tongtong’s biological father was, he would definitely not let the man get away with it. At that time, he was still unsure if it was my brother, but later, he made a move against my brother in public, and today, it was at the hospital… Yiyi, the way Li En makes me feel is just like how your dad made me feel back then.”
Li En was Fu Jingyi’s student and had followed him for many years. In fact, Wen Ran had always wondered how Li En managed to get out scot-free when Fu Jingyi was imprisoned.
Could he really have had no involvement at all?
A flicker of surprise crossed Bai Yiyi’s eyes, and her complexion changed subtly.
Fu Jingyi was a taboo subject. Whether Gu Kai mentioned it or Wen Ran did, Bai Yiyi would feel guilty.
“Yiyi, do you understand what I mean?” Wen Ran pursed her lips and asked softly.
Bai Yiyi nodded. “I do. You’re afraid that Elder Brother Li, like my dad back then, will turn love into hate and do something extreme, right?”
“Right, I just feel that Li En’s gaze is somewhat cold, and every time he looks at my brother, it’s filled with malice. If you and my brother have any disputes over Tongtong, it’s inevitable that Li En might do something extreme.”
Just like the two times he had attacked Gu Kai.
“Ranran, don’t worry too much. Gu Kai has now agreed not to fight with me over Tongtong, and I’m also prepared to agree to his terms. From now on, we’ll live in peace, and Elder Brother Li won’t do anything to harm Gu Kai.”
“I hope so,” Wen Ran said, a gentle smile spreading across her lips.
She definitely did not want her brother, or the Gu Family, to suffer any harm. However, when Bai Yiyi agreed to her brother’s terms, they included her promise never to marry.
That was something that Li En would hold a grudge over.
**
Mo Xiuchen came with Gu Kai.
Tongtong, having gotten used to falling asleep while nursing, had just been put down in her bed by Bai Yiyi when a knock came from the door.
Blinking in surprise, Bai Yiyi went to open the door.
Upon seeing Gu Kai and Mo Xiuchen standing outside, she pursed her lips and turned to go back into the ward.
Gu Kai raised an eyebrow and walked into the ward with Mo Xiuchen, who strode over to Wen Ran and asked her with concern if she was tired.
Gu Kai stood a few steps away, his gaze tenderly falling on the sleeping Tongtong. His eyes lingered on her, and he couldn’t help but remember when Tongtong had touched the corner of his mouth with her little hand, stirring a delicate warmth in his heart.
Indeed, the saying ‘daughters are like little padded jackets’ couldn’t be more true.
Seeing Gu Kai looking at Tongtong, a complex emotion flickered in Bai Yiyi’s eyes, and she said indifferently, “I agree to all the conditions you set last night.”
Hearing her words, Gu Kai withdrew his gaze and turned to look at her.
Bai Yiyi instinctively straightened her back and met Gu Kai’s deep eyes with a brave look, her lips pressed into a thin line.
Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen simply watched the two quietly, without interrupting. After a moment of silence, Gu Kai hooked his lips faintly, a smile neither smile, and said, “Since you’ve agreed, let’s find time in the next couple of days to transfer Tongtong’s household registration.”
