Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Bai Yiyi’s gaze flickered.
A month ago, when Gu Kai found out about Tongtong’s origins and requested that Tongtong take his surname, Bai Yiyi wanted to tell her mother.
But as she hesitated over when to speak up, Gu Kai was called away on a business trip.
That delay turned into a month.
She took a deep breath and said calmly, “Tongtong’s father is Gu Kai.”
“Gu Kai, the one from Kangning Hospital?” Bai Yuqin looked at Bai Yiyi with a face full of shock, clearly finding it hard to believe this explosive news.
“Yes, it’s him.”
Bai Yiyi lowered her eyes and nodded gently.
“How could it be him, Yiyi? How did you meet Gu Kai and even have Tongtong with him?”
“Mom, listen to me, I didn’t know him before…”
Bai Yiyi briefly recounted the events, and after hearing her story, Bai Yuqin let out a long sigh, “What goes around comes around, it’s retribution. Your father committed sins years ago, and now you’re paying for them.”
“Mom, what retribution? It was just an accident.”
“True, it was an accident, but there are so many men in the world. Of all people, why did you have to meet someone from the Gu Family? Since Tongtong is his daughter, it’s only fair that he requests her to take the surname Gu.”
It wasn’t just a request for Tongtong to take the surname Gu. Bai Yuqin felt that if Gu Kai wanted custody rights, they couldn’t compete.
After all, the man she loved back then had taken away a daughter from the Gu Family.

Kangning Hospital
Mo Xiuchen and Wen Jin left the hospital to find Lu Zhiyan and join him in the search for Momo.
They had called Zhou Lin and Li Qian to accompany Ranran.
“Sister Li, Ah Lin, go home, it’s late.”
In the quiet hospital room, Wen Ran’s voice broke the silence. She didn’t look up, her gaze fixed on Ziyi, who was sound asleep in the baby crib.
Slightly raising the head of her bed, she lay there, head tilted, not daring to move despite the soreness in her neck.
“Ranran, you should sleep. Have a good rest, and when you wake up tomorrow, Mo Xiuchen will have rescued Momo,” said Li Qian, her eyes welling up with sorrow and stinging once more.
Zhou Lin wiped her eyes and stood up to say, “Ranran, Sister Li is right. You should get some good sleep. Even if not for yourself, you need to think about Ziyi and Mo Xiuchen, right?”
“I’m fine; I’ll sleep in a bit.”
Wen Ran lifted her eyes and gave them a faint smile, feigning strength, which only made them feel more heartbroken.
“Then we’ll come to see you again tomorrow.”
Li Qian hesitated, feeling that Ranran would not rest with them there. She looked at Zhou Lin for confirmation, and after the latter nodded, they both advised Wen Ran before leaving the hospital room together.
The special nursing assistant entered the room as they left.
“Miss Wen, you should rest. I will take care of the baby.”
“No need, I’m not sleeping now.”
Wen Ran shook her head, and the special nursing assistant didn’t speak further. She retreated a couple of steps towards the wall and stood there quietly, not disturbing Wen Ran.
Once again, silence enveloped the hospital room.
Wen Ran gazed at Ziyi and couldn’t help but have Momo’s little face come to mind again. Thinking of how cute Ziyi and Momo looked sleeping together in the baby room made her grief surge like a tide, overwhelming her.

The night was long and excruciating.
All night, Wen Ran had not closed her eyes, and in the early hours, Mo Xiuchen called back.
The next morning, Mo Xiuchen hurried back to the hospital, and when he saw Wen Ran’s swollen eyes, his heart ached indescribably.
“Ranran, come, have breakfast first.”
Mo Xiuchen’s face carried a faint smile, as he tried to act as normal as possible.
“Mo Xiuchen, I don’t want to eat.”
Wen Ran shook her head. All night long, she didn’t know how many tears she had shed, a pain that others couldn’t comprehend. In fact, it wasn’t that she became sad only when she remembered, but rather, that sadness clung to her like a shadow that she couldn’t shake off.
She hadn’t felt this heart-wrenching sensation in a long time.
It seemed that ever since Mo Xiuchen had returned to her side, she had been very happy this past year. Just yesterday afternoon, she had still been saying how happy she was, but she had not expected sadness to arrive so swiftly.
As Mo Xiuchen looked down, a trace of pain crossed the depths of his eyes. His hand, holding the thermos, tightened, and he said with a smile, “Ranran, eat a little at least. If you don’t eat, how will you feed Ziyi?”
He placed the thermos on the small table in front of the bed. Wen Ran watched him open the container gently and skillfully, ladling porridge for her. Waves of emotion churned in her heart, a tide of warmth flooded her nose, rushing into her eyes.
“Mo Xiuchen, is there any news about Momo?”
At last, she asked.
From the moment Mo Xiuchen had entered the ward, Wen Ran’s heart had been in suspense, filled with three parts hope, two parts fear, and one part hesitation.
If Mo Xiuchen didn’t mention it, she knew clearly there was no news.
She held back for a moment, but still couldn’t resist wanting to hear it from his lips.
In the baby’s crib, Ziyi cried out, his long thick eyelashes quivering, his tiny body twisting.
“Mo Xiuchen, quickly pick up Ziyi, has he pooped?”
Mo Xiuchen responded with an “okay.” At the doorway, the special nursing assistant walked in quickly, picked up Ziyi to the side, and changed his diaper.
“Ranran, don’t look anymore, have your breakfast first.”
Mo Xiuchen sat down on the bed’s edge and handed the bowl of porridge to Wen Ran.
Wen Ran met his gaze and immediately looked down again. She didn’t know what was wrong with herself; ever since Momo had gone missing yesterday, she had so many tears that it annoyed her. No matter how much she wanted to be strong, the tears would just flow.
She took the bowl from Mo Xiuchen’s hands and asked softly, “Have you had breakfast yet?”
“I’ll eat in a bit, you eat first.”
“Mo Xiuchen, eat with me.” Wen Ran lifted her head, her eyes tearful as she looked at Mo Xiuchen. Despite her sorrow, she didn’t neglect this man, knowing he must similarly have no appetite.
Mo Xiuchen’s lips moved, but no smile formed, “I’ll watch you eat.”
“Will you eat if I do?”
Wen Ran looked at Mo Xiuchen stubbornly, her hands tightly clutching the bowl.
“Yes.”
“Then okay, I’ll eat.” Wen Ran took a deep breath, as Mo Xiuchen pulled out a tissue to wipe her tears, “There’s salt in this porridge.”
Wen Ran pressed her lips together and turned her face away, no longer looking at him.
She spooned the porridge into her mouth, tasteless, yet faster than she usually did.
Mo Xiuchen sat beside her, watching as Wen Ran soon finished a bowl of porridge. He conjured up a small smile, “Ranran, want more?”
“I don’t want more, now it’s your turn to eat. You didn’t sleep last night, eat and then go to sleep.”
Wen Ran’s voice was choked with sobs.
Mo Xiuchen pursed his lips, silently served himself a bowl of porridge, and Wen Ran had the special nursing assistant bring Ziyi to her. She lifted her shirt to breastfeed Ziyi, listening to Mo Xiuchen say, “Ranran, I’m going to City B in a while. Although Lu Zhiyan has already contacted the police there, I still want to make the trip myself.”
