Chapter 1102: Give me the knife.

Mo Xiuchen’s gaze grew ever colder.

Previously, in the mudslide in City B, Cheng Jia’s parents and her identification were found amongst the disaster, and he believed that Cheng Jia must have died too.

“If it’s Cheng Jia, her purpose would be much simpler.”

Mo Xiuchen’s deep voice carried a bone-chilling coldness.

Mo Jingteng had said on his deathbed that Cheng Jia would surely return to seek revenge on him and Ranran…

That was why he had been relentlessly searching for Cheng Jia. Gu Kai looked at his ice-covered handsome face and said calmly, “Mo Xiuchen, if it really is Cheng Jia, she probably wouldn’t hurt Momo, right? Her target has always been very clear.”

“Mm.”

After Gu Kai left, Mo Xiuchen put Ziyi back in the crib. He sat in front of the bed, tenderly gazing at Wen Ran on the bed. As he watched, his eyes inexplicably began to moisten. He lowered his head and gently kissed her hand, whispering softly, “Ranran, you must be strong.”

**

Wen Ran had a dream.

In the dream, she saw only a vague mist and a figure, unidentifiable as male or female, holding Momo and saying to her through the fog, “Wen Ran, today, I will repay the debt you owe me with your daughter.”

“No, don’t hurt my daughter.” Wen Ran’s wide-open eyes mixed panic with anger, “Whatever grudge you have, take it out on me, let my daughter go.”

“I’ll release your daughter only if you die right now in front of me.”

Clang, the person threw a knife over.

“I’ll count to ten; if you don’t slit your wrists by then, I’ll cut your daughter’s, and let you watch her bleed out.”

Wen Ran’s face turned deathly pale, she screamed “No”, bent down to pick up the knife on the floor, while the other person was also holding a knife, poised above Momo’s wrist, where her bracelet was.

“Just don’t hurt my daughter, I agree to whatever you want, as long as you let her go.”

Wen Ran’s hand holding the knife trembled, and so did her voice. Yet, within that trembling, there was the strength and great maternal love unique to a mother.

Willing to give up her own life for her daughter.

“Cut it. Once you die, I’ll release your daughter.” The person laughed mockingly, the sound piercing toward her like arrows. The next second, a familiar voice came from behind her, the man she deeply loved, Mo Xiuchen.

“Ranran, don’t do anything foolish.”

“Mo Xiuchen.”

Wen Ran turned in shock, looking at Mo Xiuchen steps away, his handsome features clearly visible through the fog. Strange, she couldn’t make out the person opposite her, but she could see Mo Xiuchen so clearly.

“Ranran, be good, give me the knife.” Mo Xiuchen quickly stepped forward and, taking advantage of her distraction, snatched the knife from her hand.

“Mo Xiuchen, have you come to die? It doesn’t matter which one of you dies, as long as one of you dies in front of me. One, two…”

“Mo Xiuchen, give me back the knife.”

Wen Ran listened to the androgynous voice, frantically looking at Mo Xiuchen.

“Ranran, after I die, find someone else who loves you, remember, find someone to take care of you and our children, I can’t be at peace with you being alone.”

“…eight, nine, ten.”

Wen Ran watched as Mo Xiuchen resolutely picked up the knife and slashed his wrist, she yelled out in anguish, “Mo Xiuchen, no!”

Her eyes suddenly shot open, and she sprang up from the bed.

“Wen Ran, I’m right here.”

At the bedside, Mo Xiuchen was startled by Wen Ran’s piercing cry as her soft little hand slipped from his palm, and her body suddenly sat up from the bed.

A flicker of pain crossed his eyes as he quickly reached out to grab her hand.

As Wen Ran sat up, she again pulled at the wound in her abdomen, immediately causing her to frown with pain. She bit her lip to avoid crying out and instead turned her head to look at him, her eyes filled with complex emotions.

“Wen Ran, it was just a dream, don’t be afraid.”

Mo Xiuchen didn’t know what she had dreamed of, but when she called out his name in the dream, it felt as if his heart was fiercely clenched. He leaned in and embraced her in his arms.

Wen Ran’s body was somewhat stiff, but she didn’t struggle, allowing Mo Xiuchen to hold her as she thought about the dream she’d just had.

In the apartment, just as Bai Xiaoxiao had lain down to sleep, Eudora barged in, anxiously saying, “Xiaoxiao, something terrible has happened. A friend just told me that Wen Ran’s child has had an accident.”

Bai Xiaoxiao was at first stunned, her mind somewhat slow to react. After two seconds, upon seeing Eudora’s anxious gaze, she realized what was said and widened her eyes in shock, “Eudora, you just said that Wen Ran’s baby had some sort of accident?”

Eudora came to her bedside and explained briefly, “I was about to call my friend to ask if there was any news about the favor I asked for, but instead, he told me that there was huge trouble in G City. It seems that just yesterday, Wen Ran’s daughter was taken away from the hospital.”

“Is this news for real?” Bai Xiaoxiao’s complexion drastically changed as she rushed to the edge of the bed, grabbing the hem of Eudora’s clothes.

“It’s absolutely true. I just searched the domestic websites; take a look, it’s in the news.”

Bai Xiaoxiao snatched Eudora’s phone in a panic, scanning the news page ten lines at a time. Indeed, the news said that the daughter of Haochen Group’s President, Mo Xiuchen, who was just five days old, had disappeared.

The culprit had sneaked into Kangning Hospital, waited for several days, and finally seized the opportunity…

“How could this happen.” Bai Xiaoxiao’s face turned deathly white, her voice filled with extreme urgency and worry. She handed the phone back to Eudora and picked up her own phone from the bedside table, quickly dialing a number.

“Xiaoxiao, who are you calling?”

“I’m calling my mother. I’ll ask her what happened.” Bai Xiaoxiao continued dialing while answering her question.

“Why don’t you call Wen Ran directly?” Eudora asked, unable to understand.

Bai Xiaoxiao’s gaze remained fixed on her phone screen as she said, “Wen Ran must be devastated right now. The more I ask her, the sadder she’ll be. I’ll ask my mother first to see how much she knows.”

“Then you can also call Mo Xiuchen.” Eudora still couldn’t grasp Bai Xiaoxiao’s line of thought.

Bai Xiaoxiao looked up at her before responding, “Mo Xiuchen is currently searching for Momo. If I call him, he will definitely be annoyed.”

Hearing this, Eudora shrugged her shoulders, saying with a sigh, “You really are Wen Ran’s best friend, understanding her so well. I asked my friend, but unfortunately, he didn’t know much. He just happened to be on a business trip in G City and heard about this.”

The phone connected, and Mother Bai’s voice came through. Bai Xiaoxiao immediately asked, “Mom, I just heard that Wen Ran’s daughter Momo is missing. Is it true?”

“It’s true. Your father and I are on our way to Kangning Hospital. We only found out after seeing the news.”

“Then, when you see Wen Ran later, call me back.” Bai Xiaoxiao wanted to say that she would buy a ticket to go back right away, but the words reached her lips and yet were left unsaid.
