Chapter 891: So what?

The next morning, Mo Xiuchen, Luo Haofeng, Wen Jin, and Gu Kai all went to the airport to see off Qin Mu.

After a brief farewell, Qin Mu strode into the security check and disappeared from their sight without ever looking back.

“Mo Xiuchen, do you want to go back to the hospital with me to change the dressing?”

Gu Kai withdrew his gaze and asked Mo Xiuchen beside him.

He was still looking in the direction of the security channel which no longer had Qin Mu’s presence. Hearing Gu Kai’s words, he withdrew his gaze and nodded, “Let’s go.”

After leaving the airport, Luo Haofeng went to his company while Wen Jin headed straight back to the pharmaceutical factory. Mo Xiuchen got into Gu Kai’s car and went to the hospital with him.

“Mo Xiuchen, did you know that Yuting broke up with Jiang Liu?”

On the main road to Kangning Hospital, Gu Kai, who was in the driver’s seat, turned to look at the man in the passenger seat and casually asked.

Upon hearing this, Mo Xiuchen’s brows lightly furrowed, his expression somewhat indifferent, “I didn’t know.”

Gu Kai sighed and said, “I’ve always known that Yuting hasn’t completely let go of you, but I didn’t expect her to break up with Jiang Liu.”

Since Gu Kai found out that Shen Yuting’s boyfriend bore a striking resemblance to Mo Xiuchen and even deliberately mimicked Mo Xiuchen’s behavior and mannerisms, he knew that Shen Yuting hadn’t truly moved on from her feelings for Mo Xiuchen.

But during that time, Shen Yuting and Jiang Liu got along well, and he thought that Shen Yuting could lead an uneventful life with a man who bore some resemblance to the one she deeply loved.

She could deceive herself and see Jiang Liu as Mo Xiuchen.

Perhaps it was because Mo Xiuchen lost his memories of Ranran for a while that made Shen Yuting hold on to hope again. That time, he went to her office to look for her and just happened upon her hiding a photo when she saw him. Shen Yuting tucked away the photo in a fluster.

A few days later, while investigating a matter in the hospital, Gu Kai was reviewing surveillance footage and learned that Shen Yuting had also reviewed the tapes not long before and had taken photographs. At the time, he had a hint of suspicion and decided to be more cautious by retrieving the footage from that morning as well.

The result surprised and angered him, as it turned out that the photo Shen Yuting was looking at was of a moment when Mo Xiuchen steadied her after she was jostled by a patient’s relative.

At that moment, Shen Yuting happened to fall into Mo Xiuchen’s arms, and as he held her, she turned to look at him, a scene which looked quite intimate to onlookers.

He told no one about this, including Mo Xiuchen.

Mo Xiuchen coldly huffed with indifference, “That’s her own business; it has nothing to do with me.”

Gu Kai’s mouth twitched as he looked at the indifferent Mo Xiuchen. This guy was just as cold-hearted as before his amnesia, his warmth reserved only for Wen Ran. He showed no pity for any other woman.

Yet, this version of him couldn’t make Gu Kai angry.

Not to mention that Ranran was his own sister, even if she had no connection to him at all, he had no right to reproach Mo Xiuchen.

“Mo Xiuchen, I’m just reminding you. After all, Yuting was injured because of you that day. Although you’ve been hiding it from Ranran, she will find out now that she’s back.”

“So what? Didn’t you say that I was injured once before because of Shen Yuting? Let’s just consider it her way of repaying a debt. Besides, I didn’t ask her to do that,” Mo Xiuchen replied, his voice cold and unfeeling, devoid of any gratitude for Shen Yuting. He even doubted Shen Yuting’s intentions at that time; even though he was injured then, he could have dodged the incoming car.

Shen Yuting, however, rushed over to push him out of the way, and she got hit by the car herself.

Thankfully, her injuries were not severe, and she could consider herself lucky.

Gu Kai was not at the scene and didn’t know the specific details until later, when Mo Xiuchen mentioned it, “Mo Xiuchen, you haven’t visited Yuting at the hospital these days. She hasn’t asked about you either. However, when Ranran comes back, you both should go see her.”

A flicker of displeasure crossed Mo Xiuchen’s face, he neither agreed nor declined.

He didn’t like Ranran getting too close to Shen Yuting, especially since Shen Yuting’s injury was somewhat related to him. After a moment of silence, he finally said, “I will go see her in a bit.”

“Ah?”

Gu Kai was momentarily taken aback.

Mo Xiuchen gave him a look and added coldly, “She said many things in front of me to drive a wedge between Ranran and me. I don’t want her using her injury to say things that would upset her.”

“What did Yuting say to you?” Gu Kai looked at Mo Xiuchen in amazement.

“Focus on driving.” Mo Xiuchen frowned and chided. Gu Kai dared not retort and focused on the road ahead instead.

Mo Xiuchen briefly recounted the things Shen Yuting said to him on the phone that night and during dinner at his house.

After hearing all this, Gu Kai furrowed his brows. It seemed he had been too careless before. He should have been cautious when Yuting actively collected the tabloids about Cheng Jia, claiming that Cheng Jia and Mo Xiuchen should not be together.

“Given that, you should indeed go and warn her first, not to say things she shouldn’t in front of Ranran.”

Gu Kai’s voice sounded somewhat heavy, and Mo Xiuchen simply responded with a faint “Hmm,” without saying anything more.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Mo Xiuchen first went to Gu Kai’s office. Gu Kai dressed his wounds; they were too deep, and even with the best medicine, it would take at least ten days to half a month to fully heal.

“They say even a fierce tiger will not eat its cubs, yet Mo Jingteng has gone so far as to…”

“Don’t mention him.”

Mo Xiuchen’s expression darkened as he cut off Gu Kai. Previously, even if he resented Mo Jingteng, he had the notion that this man gave him life and was the man his mother had loved her entire life.

He had not expected the truth to be so different from what he had thought…

“Mo Xiuchen, if Mo Jingteng won’t regard you as his son, then don’t consider him your father. There’s no need to be upset over him.” An oblivious Gu Kai said, trying to console with a smile.

Mo Xiuchen lowered his gaze, his eyes landing on the wound on his arm. His lips formed a straight, resolute line, and he remained silent.

That secret, he didn’t want to tell anyone yet. Perhaps, the person he most wanted to tell hadn’t come back. Once Ranran returned, and he had told her, then he would let Gu Kai and the others know.

Seeing Mo Xiuchen not responding, Gu Kai didn’t say anything else, re-dressed his wounds, and cautioned, “You remember not to get it wet and not to exert yourself. If it splits open, it can easily become infected.”

Mo Xiuchen lowered his sleeve and stood up, saying indifferently, “After I have visited Shen Yuting, I’ll head straight back to the company and won’t come up again. You go on with your work.”

“Although Yuting has some thoughts about you, try not to hurt her feelings too much. If you can handle it tactfully, then be as gentle as possible. She’s just too infatuated with you and has never let go. She actually hasn’t done anything to harm Ranran.”

Gu Kai pressed his lips together and spoke softly.
