“The eavesdropper heard only the first part, the part foretelling the birth of a boy in July to parents who had thrice defied Voldemort. Consequently, he could not warn Voldemort that to attack you would be to risk transferring power to you — again marking you as his equal. So Voldemort never knew that there might be danger in attacking you, that it might be wise to wait or to learn more. He did not know that you would have ‘power the Dark Lord knows not’ —”

“But I don’t!” said Harry in a strangled voice. “I haven’t any powers he hasn’t got —”

“There is a room in the Department of Mysteries,” interrupted Dumbledore, “that is kept locked at all times. It contains a force that is at once more wonderful and more terrible than death, than human intelligence, than forces of nature. It is also, perhaps, the most mysterious of the many subjects for study that reside there. It is the power held within that room that you possess in such quantities and which Voldemort has not at all. That power saved you from possession by Voldemort, because he could not bear to reside in a body so full of the force he detests.”

According to Dumbledore’s description, this mysterious and terrible power he was talking about should be love.

In other words, it was pure positive spiritual power.

In addition to the circular room at the beginning, the Department of Mysteries had twelve large rooms and several smaller rooms.

Each large room corresponded to a mysterious magical power. These were all magic or relics left over from ancient times. Today’s wizards had no way to use them, or knew very little about them. These were mysterious magic beyond imagination.

Evan was most familiar with the Time Room. The magic in this room corresponded to time. He also knew that there was the Death Chamber, where there was an ancient arch leading to the world of the dead; there was also the room filled with many brains, corresponding to human wisdom; and the room with countless floating planets, representing the natural power of the universe.

Among the rooms Evan was unfamiliar with, there should be those studying space, demons, legendary magic items, and so on.

And there was the room that Dumbledore mentioned that remained locked at all times, where the magic of love was stored.

“I have a power that Voldemort doesn’t understand, but he still controlled me…” Harry murmured.

“Yes, he succeeded in Norway,” said Dumbledore. “Perhaps because the time was too short, maybe because it was just an accident, he didn’t find the power in your body at that time. But when he tried to do it again, that power hurt him and he failed! I think it mattered not that you could not close your mind. It was your heart that saved you. However, we both know that relying solely on this power to defeat Voldemort is almost impossible. He has now gained the help of the evil god, making him stronger than ever before. So, we must work together to defeat him and the evil god. But remember, Harry, Voldemort is your equal.”

“In the end, ‘neither can live while the other survives’…” said Harry, “So … so does that mean that … that one of us has got to kill the other one … in the end?”

“Yes,” said Dumbledore. “Only one of you and Voldemort can survive.”

This was the truth of everything, and Harry seemed to finally understand everything.

For a long time, neither of them spoke.

Somewhere far beyond the office walls, Evan could hear the sound of voices, students heading down to the Great Hall for an early breakfast, perhaps. They were still immersed in their daily lives, unaware of what had happened last night and that the second war had already begun.

“You are not fighting alone, Harry, but you must be prepared. The news of Voldemort’s return will be announced soon, and the Wizarding World will undergo earth-shaking changes. The war is about to begin,” Dumbledore stood up from his chair and looked out the window. “Before that, there are still many things waiting for us to do. I hope you can continue your studies this term and pass your O.W.L.s. This is important for your future…”

As Dumbledore said, with the announcement of Voldemort’s return, the Wizarding World entered a state of war.

But they still had to prepare for exams, which sounded ridiculous. Perhaps only Hermione thought it was natural.

They had not been in Hogwarts for nearly half a month. They had missed a lot of classes and revision time, and the exams time was getting closer.

After a brief excitement and joy, Hermione, who returned to Hogwarts, immediately entered the revision mode.

She found the missed class materials and assignments and made a more detailed study plan, urging them to study.

At this moment, except for her, no one in the school probably had the mind on the upcoming exam.

The atmosphere suddenly became tense, and everyone in the Wizarding World felt insecure.

Because, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named was back, and in a brief statement Friday night, Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge confirmed that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named had returned to this country and was active once more.

“It is with great regret that I must confirm that the wizard styling himself Lord — well, you know who I mean — is alive and active among us again,” said Fudge, looking tired and flustered as he addressed reporters. “It is with almost equal regret that we report the mass revolt of the Dementors of Azkaban, who have shown themselves averse to continuing in the Ministry’s employ. We believe that the Dementors are currently taking direction from Lord — Thingy.”

“We strongly urge the magical population to remain vigilant. The Ministry is currently publishing guides to elementary home and personal defense that will be delivered free to all Wizarding homes within the coming month.”

As expected, the Minister’s statement was met with dismay and alarm from the Wizarding community, which as recently as last week was receiving Ministry assurances that there was “no truth whatsoever in these persistent rumors that You-Know-Who is operating amongst us once more.”

But reality gave the Ministry of Magic and Fudge a slap in the face. They had no way of denying the fact that Voldemort led a large group of Death Eaters to the Ministry of Magic, nor the fact that the Dementors rebelled, nor the fact that the current situation was out of control.

After the news of Voldemort’s return was announced, the Daily Prophet found itself in a similarly difficult position as Fudge.

Before that, they had been claiming that the story of Voldemort’s return was fabricated by Dumbledore, Evan, and Harry, and tried their best to slander the three of them.

Now, this most prestigious newspaper had become a synonym for lies.

Although they changed their narrative immediately and published a series of articles about the progress of the whole incident, there were only a few readers buying it.

All wizards were buying Hogwarts Magic News, and the sales of Evan’s newspaper had reached a staggering number.

And this number was still increasing. Not only British wizards, but many foreign wizards were also concerned about this situation.
