Flag Camp Three.

"Are you willing to pay this toll?" A red light flashed in Chen Mu’s eyes.

Continue your journey on

Everyone in the room simultaneously shook their heads numbly: "No, no, no!"

Chen Mu then nodded in satisfaction.

Here came the labor force, didn’t it?

Just as he was quietly feeling smug, a voice suddenly emerged.

"Actually, paying some toll isn’t entirely out of the question."

The previously expressionless crowd suddenly snapped back to reality and began to discuss fervently again.

The smile on Chen Mu’s face immediately froze.

He quickly scrutinized the group of old ghosts carefully. He noticed that they all looked normal, as if the earlier manipulation was but a dream.

He then turned to look at Shi Dechun whose expression remained wooden, still clearly under the influence of the Bewitching Divine.

Chen Mu let out a sigh of relief and helplessly shook his head at the same time.

Although no one noticed the abnormality just now, the idea of using this group to transport goods was clearly no longer feasible.

"Tsk! I thought this Bewitching Divine Skill was a great Divine Power, but it turns out it’s ineffective against the old ghosts."

He’d been reluctant to use it before for fear of arousing jealousy,

But now, Chen Mu curled his lip.

"At most, I could only bully the newly formed Yin Spirits."

...

Time passed, and the blood-red sun in the sky rose and set in the east; in the blink of an eye, five days had gone by.

Underground in a certain wilderness, Chen Mu sat cross-legged in a temporary subterranean space, with fifteen or sixteen black-clad figures standing behind him, all expressionless and wooden.

Including the leading old man, Shi, these were the new Yin Spirits who had traveled with him to Antiquity City.

Perhaps because they were part of the same batch, a good portion had been assigned to Flag Camp Three. If not for this, he wouldn’t have been able to assemble this transport team. ṙÂƝОʙÊṢ

Chen Mu had currently reverted to his True Flesh Body, with most of his spirit connected to the Vermilion Feather Sword. He was making use of the Mechanical Technique’s shared vision and long-distance control capabilities to hide the Magic Sword in the clouds and track the Flame Wheel brigades from afar.

If the enemy were plundered, he’d immediately take action.

Through the Magic Sword’s perspective, watching the ant-like procession of Water Monkey corpses being transported, Chen Mu mumbled to himself.

"The battlefield changes daily, but the enemy remains the Water Monkeys with red eyes."

"I wonder what place Beyond Heaven is, and why there are so many red-furred monkeys there; it feels like they’re unending."

"The Yin Soldiers of Antiquity City are also strange, only killing the enemy but not taking territory. Instead of attacking and seizing land, it seems more like they’re deliberately hunting Water Monkeys."

As he was deep in thought, from the corner of his eye within the Magic Sword’s view, a group suddenly appeared behind the transport team.

The corners of Chen Mu’s mouth curved upwards.

Action was coming!

...

In the wilderness.

Suddenly, more than thirty tall and robust figures with a fierce aura appeared.

"My identity is probably needless to introduce," Hong Xiu said with a smiling grin.

He appeared to be in his forties with a red tight-fitting outfit underneath a black leather armor, standing calmly in front of a brigade of seventy to eighty Flame Wheel Vehicle transporters.

"Brother Hong, we will pay the agreed thirty percent," a round-faced, chubby man quickly approached, his face filled with a flattering smile.

Hong Xiu nodded in satisfaction and made a slight gesture. Over thirty daunting strong men immediately stepped forward.

In a short while, the Flame Wheel Vehicles managed by the thirty-plus men were fully loaded.

"Is this fine?" the chubby man asked, rubbing his hands together.

Hong Xiu nodded slightly, grabbing the man’s arm: "Since everyone is so rules-abiding, let’s do it by the book," he said, before leaning in to whisper, "I’ll have someone wait at the door later; don’t forget to take your share."

The chubby man’s face beamed with surprise, he bowed repeatedly and whispered thanks, then quickly signaled everyone to leave swiftly.

As he watched the retreating brigade, Hong Xiu couldn’t help but smile.

A burly man with a square face chuckled as he approached: "Is this the third brigade we’ve dealt with?"

"Fei Yong has to search for brigades on his own, but we get them coming to us willingly; Brother Hong, your cleverness is unmatched!"

Hong Xiu couldn’t help but chuckle: "All the world hustles for profit."

"I’m willing to share the spoils, so the leaders naturally want to cooperate with me."

"Being too aggressive is reckless. With Fei Yong’s brutality, he’s bound to suffer sooner or later."

At these words, the square-faced man laughed: "Brother Hong is wise. Just a few days ago, Fei Yong was indeed ambushed."

"Half of his goods were taken, and his paper soldiers and clay warriors were wrecked."

"He kept it quiet at first, but now the news is spreading like wildfire."

The corners of Hong Xiu’s mouth turned up: "See? What did I tell you, there are benefits to keeping a low profile."

"Otherwise, why would that guy specifically rob him and not us?"

As soon as he finished speaking, a great gust of Black Wind erupted from underground, instantly flinging the thirty-plus strong men into the sky.

Hong Xiu’s pupils shrank, and he flipped his right hand, revealing a fist-sized, mud-sculpted, armored general figurine.

The Yin Spirit Divine Power surged wildly, causing the mud sculpture to swell at a visible rate.

But the next instant, an invisible force suddenly struck, violently seizing away the soldiers that had just been thrown.

Upon landing, they disappeared into the ground like stones into water, vanishing with a ’plop.’

And in his perception, they rapidly sank. In the blink of an eye, the terracotta ghost soldiers were completely lost due to being too far from the divine power.

Then, an overwhelming strength hit, and Hong Xiu was smacked down onto the ground with a slap. No matter how much he mustered his Yin Spirit Divine Power, he could not move an inch.

Met a tough nut to crack, have we!

Hong Xiu lay on the ground, his heart involuntarily trembling.

"Give me fifty percent of the stuff, any problem with that?" Chen Mu emerged from the ground and expertly began to negotiate terms.

Hong Xiu couldn’t help but grit his teeth.

I’m already pinned down on the ground, what problem could there be, dare there be any problem?!

"Since the gentleman is interested in this batch of water apes, just take them all, let’s call it making friends," he shouted generously, while thinking to himself that this was far from over.

His eyes shifting, he spoke up again, "Friend, with such formidable strength, why not join forces for a venture to make a fortune together?"

Chen Mu’s eyebrows shot up instantly.

The others who double-crossed in the past either cursed or gritted their teeth with thoughts of revenge, but this guy’s first reaction was to collaborate with me?

A real talent!

What a pity...

"I am a good person; I would never engage in banditry!" Chen Mu refused with righteous indignation.

Hong Xiu: "..."

Listen to the crap you’re spewing!

Not into banditry? Then what the hell are you doing right now?

Playing the hero?!

Hong Xiu was so angry he almost lost it.

"I’ll let you all go now, but don’t play any tricks on me, or you’ll regret it," Chen Mu said cautiously, withdrawing the Qi Forbidden Hundred Miles as he saw everyone submitting.

Suppressing the rage in his heart, Hong Xiu got up from the ground. After briefly tidying up his disheveled armor, he pretended as though nothing had happened and spoke with ease, "Friend, since we can’t work together, perhaps we can still do some trading?"

"There are quite a few doing the same business with me. As long as you spare my team in the future, I can provide you with accurate information about others."

"What do you think..."

Such a good deal?!

Chen Mu was delighted inwardly and regarded the man before him with newfound respect.

To avoid his own losses and yet screw over a colleague, this guy’s brain works really fast.

"It’s not entirely impossible," he pondered, stroking his chin.

Following others with my Flying Sword is indeed a bit troublesome; if someone provided information and I could just block them, that would make things much simpler.

Seeing Chen Mu’s expression of interest, Hong Xiu couldn’t help but smile.

Feed this guy a few true bits of information first, gain his trust, and then, heh heh!

He immediately clasped his hands with earnest sincerity, "What is my friend’s surname? How shall I contact you to provide information later?"

Just as Chen Mu was about to speak, a thought struck him.

His memory of posing as Fei Yong and the subsequent fiasco was still fresh in his mind, prompting him to be cautious and counter-question instead of answering directly, "Tell me your name first."

Hong Xiu kept a poker face, but his mind was racing. Since he planned to deceive this person, he couldn’t reveal his real name.

He made up his mind in a flash, "I am Niu Chengzong of the Third Banner. And you, my friend, may I know your distinguished name?"

"Oh, I am Hong Xiu of the Fifth Banner, my apologies, my apologies," Chen Mu replied nonchalantly.

Hong Xiu: "..."

This guy is using my name to do bad deeds?

Damn, I’ve become a scapegoat!

...

Towards evening, at the Second Banner camp.

Chen Mu returned with Shi Dechun and others.

As the red glow in their eyes faded, memories of the arduous journey, taking detours, and the difficult task of moving the water apes surfaced in their minds.

If they were to check the Ghost Face Copper Medal, they would find that the military merits recorded corresponded exactly with the achievements of this recent task.

This batch of water apes was specifically allocated by Chen Mu to his team. On one hand, it made the act of Bewitching Divine more convincing, and on the other, it served as a payment for their transport services.

With a thought, the men quickly regained complete clarity and left in small groups. Shi Dechun scratched his chin and, as usual, rushed to other barracks to catch up on various rumors and gossip.

Chen Mu returned to his room and sat cross-legged on a cushion.

With the Ghost Face Copper Medal in hand and the infusion of Yin Spirit Divine Power, a cool sensation immediately spread from the palm of his hand.

The vague restlessness and destructive desire induced by the blood-colored light outside instantly dissipated. It was precisely because of this medal that they, as auxiliary forces, remained lucid outside the camp, preventing what could have been utter chaos.

The cool sensation soon vanished, and a series of information appeared in his mind.

Seeing the displayed total of one thousand and five military merits, Chen Mu could not help but smile proudly.

"At most half a month, and I’ll have accumulated three thousand."

"Then I can exchange them for the Secret Technique, find a way to change teams, and stay inside the camp."

The constant transportation of the red-eyed water apes’ corpses, ominously threatening danger every moment, only highlighted the risks outside. Better to die than face a horde of survivors unexpectedly jumping at you. So, it’s best to remain inside the camp.
