Yin and Yang showed a sorrowful expression, “The Ancestor of Demons possesses great mana, and they were struck down by the aftershocks of the magical duel, all perishing, their paths extinguished.”
Sun Changsheng calculated with his fingers and immediately understood the circumstances.
The Formation and Prohibition of the Eighteen Layers of Hell couldn’t withstand the aftershocks of the self-detonation. Therefore, Yin and Yang, along with several Divinity Transformation demons, used those weaker Blood Sacrifices to block it, and only then did they barely survive.
“I am from Xuanmen Orthodoxy, how can I associate and be defiled by the likes of you?”
Sun Changsheng, unfazed by the shocked demons, heeded his master’s teachings to not consort with demons and turned into a fleeing light, disappearing without a trace.
“Ancestor of Demons/Great Saint…”
No matter how Yin and Yang and Xiankong and the others called out, Sun Changsheng did not look back. All at once, they felt an immense and terrifying pressure descending upon them.
The group of demons glanced at the immortals and True Gods, and very conscientiously returned to the Heavenly Prison, skillfully locking the prison doors behind them.
The Heavenly Emperor, having no time to attend to the demons, looked around at the ruined Heavenly Court and said with a grim expression.
“Given the current situation, can we say that we have weathered the great calamity?”“The Heavenly Court has gone too far and yet not far enough, but it is the calamity of the Mortal World that is missing.”
Dajue Arhat frowned deeply, for according to the original plan, Sun Changsheng was not supposed to attain immortality, and then the Heavenly Court would falsely accuse him of releasing demons.
Sun Changsheng would have had no retort and could only engage in a magical duel with the gods of the Heavenly Court.
The gods, remembering the old kindness of the Heavenly Master, held back their power, allowing Sun Changsheng to escape into the Mortal World with an assortment of demons and spirits.
With demons coming into the world, the human race of the Mortal World would suffer calamities. The Heavenly Court would then send troops to subjugate them, until enough righteous gods and mortals died, and then three immortals would subdue Sun Changsheng, ending the great calamity.
What was initially a well-constructed plan, somehow went amiss!
Shoushan Gong, annoyed that Buddhism had wooed Sun Changsheng, taunted, “If the Arhat had not mistaken the person, how could such consequences have arisen?”
Dajue Arhat’s brow furrowed as he defended himself, “The poor monk merely thought there was a resemblance, and specially asked the Severing Heaven Sect to divine it, it’s still an error of the divination!”
Ming Zhenzi, having lived over two thousand years, was not easily provoked and retorted.
“What does it have to do with me? Isn’t it because the Patching Heaven Sect did not guard the Demon Suppression Tower well, letting the Blood Devil Child escape?”
The three immortals exchanged glances and snorted coldly.
“Hmph!”
Then, they turned into three fleeing lights and disappeared into the sky, clearly no longer wanting to deal with the mess of the Heavenly Court.
The Heavenly Emperor said in a deep voice, “My dear ministers, what do you propose to do?”
The Three Teachings’ True Gods remained silent, dissatisfaction flashing in their eyes, but they dared not malign the immortals. Who’s to say that those three who pretended to leave weren’t secretly using their Divine Sense to monitor? ɌÁΝΟᛒÈs
Sun Yang, however, had no scruples and said gravely, “We must gather incense and prayers quickly. If we delay any longer, the Heavenly Court will not be rebuilt, and our True God forms will collapse and perish.”
To take a shortcut through incense and Divine Enthronement surely had its flaws.
Being inferior to the immortals in magical combat was one thing, having strength tied to the rise and fall of the Heavenly Court was another, and there was also the third aspect of constantly needing a vast amount of incense and prayers.
Just as cultivators need Spiritual Energy, True Gods without the replenishment of incense will have their bodies disintegrate on their own.
With Sun Yang addressing the issue, Huayangzi and the others from the Patching Heaven Sect naturally wouldn’t object, unanimously nodding in support, for the matter concerned life and death and was even more urgent than ascension.
“This is no difficult task.”
The Heavenly Emperor said, “Continue with the previous plan, allow the demons to wreak havoc in the Mortal World, then have the Heavenly Court clean up the aftermath.”
Huayangzi said, “The prisoners prepared in the Heavenly Prison are already dead to the last nine-tenths, where do we find more Demon Heads?”
“The remaining thousand are enough,”
said the Heavenly Emperor, “To punish the mortals, there’s no need for Nascent Soul or Divinity Transformation Demon Heads, ordinary Qi Refinement demonic cultivators will suffice. With those thousand demons from the Heavenly Prison, just taking some disciples will be enough to cause chaos among the people of Dongsheng Divine Continent!”
Sun Yang shook his head and said, “Difficult! Those demons have not been executed on the Immortal Slaying Stage, and they are all very cautious by nature. Now, without the backing of the immortals, they would not dare to offend even if let out.”
“The Heavenly Court would not allow it, so they naturally wouldn’t dare to commit evil…”
The Heavenly Emperor’s tone shifted, “But if the Heavenly Court allows it, and moreover, makes a deal with them, the demons only need to gather disciples, and the Heavenly Court will be responsible for the extermination!”
The faces of the gods shifted, yet they did not voice any opposition.
“Amitabha!”
Fa Ding wore a bitter expression, “The Heavenly Court collaborating with demons to harvest the mortal incense prayers, doesn’t this act align with the Evil God?”
“This is also a move of helplessness,”
said the Heavenly Emperor, “Given the current state of the Heavenly Court, it is on the verge of the extinction of all the gods.”
“Once the Heavenly Court collapses, the thousand years of peace in Dongsheng Divine Continent will be broken, the Cultivation World will no longer be bound by heavenly laws, and cultivators will do as they please, surely reverting to the chaos of bygone days.”
“This action, although we team up with demons, is a sacrifice of the few to save the many, and it is also for the tranquility of the billions of living beings!”
The gods bowed and saluted, saying, “What Your Majesty says is extremely true!”
Clearly, for the sake of incense prayers, or rather, to stay alive, the gods of the Heavenly Court are willing to abandon the righteous path.
Huayangzi and the other True Gods of the Patching Heaven Sect, with that statement of “for the tranquility of the billions,” could also be considered to be adhering to their fundamental teachings.
“Hahaha…”
Fa Ding Arhat did not bow, but instead looked up and let out a burst of wild laughter, tearing his monk’s robe to shreds, baring his upper body.
“Once again, it’s ‘a sacrifice of the few to save the many’. I’m tired of hearing it!”
“It all comes down to self-interest, so why bother making it sound so grand and righteous!”
“The Heavenly Court has entered the path of demons, I don’t care for the divine position anymore. Spirit Mountain has entered the path of demons, I won’t read the scriptures anymore!”
“I have chanted Buddhist scriptures for a thousand years, followed the heavenly laws for a thousand years, only to find myself living amongst demons. I might as well let the Buddha turn to a demon, why keep up this pretense of being godly or holy?”
Fa Ding’s body shone with both Buddha light and divine light, interweaving as he spoke, gradually changing from glittering gold to roiling demonic energy. A web-like pattern of demonic marks started appearing on his forehead and chest.
The gods were flushed with shame, Fa Ding’s words had laid bare the hypocrisy of the Heavenly Court.
