I didn’t have much time today, so today’s chapter is a short one.

While playing an online game, I was reminded that Aoi-chan’s birthday was coming up. Since it was a special occasion, I thought it would be nice to celebrate it in some way.

It seemed Aoi-chan intended to extend being 17 for another year, but that aside, I still wanted to do something for her birthday.

[……That’s what I was thinking. What do you think?]

[That sounds great! It’s gonna be a surprise party, right?! I’m sure Aoi-senpai would be happy.]

So, I decided to consult with Hina-chan about celebrating Aoi-chan’s birthday. She was enthusiastic about the idea, and we agreed to secretly prepare something to celebrate.

Incidentally, Aoi-chan was currently attending a lecture on Golem-related magic at the Magic Academy, so she wasn’t around. This made it the perfect time to plan.

[……But how big of a celebration are we talking about? If Kaito-senpai really wanted to, he could make it incredibly extravagant……]

[Hmmm, that’s true but…… If we go overboard, Aoi-chan might feel too self-conscious. Since she plans to skip this birthday and just continue being 17, I don’t think we need to throw a full-scale birthday party.]

[Ahh, yeah, that part is a bit tricky. My birthday is on December 23rd, so with the time we were transferred…… it feels like my birthday got pushed back by about half a year. I kind of get that feeling of being out of sync with that world’s time.]

As Hina-chan said, if we wanted to, we could throw a proper birthday party. I could handle the arrangements myself, or I could ask Lilia-san to take care of it, and she’d probably organize something really nice.

But since Aoi-chan seemed intent on skipping her birthday this time, I figured it would be best for just me and Hina-chan to celebrate in a simple way.

[……For now, I think it’s fine if just you and I prepare something simple to celebrate. Nothing flashy, just a cake and a present should be enough……]

[That sounds good. We could have a small celebration in Kaito-senpai’s room or something like that.]

[Ah, what about Seigi-kun?]

[Hmm…… Coming here from the city where Seigi lives would take quite a bit of time. Plus, he’s a noble and a lord of his territory, so calling him out of the blue might make it tough for him to adjust his schedule. Well, if Kaito-senpai calls him, he’d probably prioritize coming here over anything else but……]

[Hmm, it certainly might end up being a hassle for him…… Since we’re just planning a small celebration, maybe it’s best if it’s just the two of us this time.]

[Right. If we invite Seigi, or if we ask someone like Lilia-san or Luna-san to join, it’ll probably turn into something bigger than we intended. Kaito-senpai, let’s just celebrate her birthday ourselves!]

Since we had already decided on a modest celebration, and as Hina-chan pointed out, inviting more people would quickly turn it into a larger gathering, so we chose to keep it just the two of us.

[Alright, should we head out now to buy a cake and do it tonight?]

[Agreed! Let’s go get a delicious cake!!]

[Aoi-chan is coming back in the evening, right?]

[She said around 5 PM.]

[Then we don’t have that much time to spare. Let’s head out right away.]

[Got it!]

Smiling at Hina-chan as she enthusiastically saluted in response to my words, I quickly got ready to go out. Then, together with Hina-chan, I headed into town to buy the cake and other things we needed.
