Chapter 1129: 1129 Ceremony
By the time that the dessert course was served, the whole castle was back in party mode, and Wolfe knew that any semblance of a serious ceremony was not going to work.
The point of this event was to have the leaders swear a magical contract to submit to his leadership, which would suggest that it was a very serious event.
However, it was more focused on the future than the present, with multiple requests for the Pentacle members to cast some sort of blessing or charm on the new couples when their guardians came up to swear fealty to King Wolfe.
That seemed like it was something that they could do easily enough. The Witches had plenty of luck and fertility charms at their disposal, so they could bless new couples when they came up as a sign of favour.
The meal was cleared away, and Wolfe rose to his feet.
“I will be moving to the throne room for the official event. There is no set order, so join as you please. It is just as important to me that the Guardians of small regions are in agreement as the Guardians and leaders of larger ones.” He announced.
Cassie and Ella took their seats on either side of him in the throne room, while Rail stood just behind his left shoulder with the list of guests.
She would be responsible for checking everyone off as they approached, and making notes of any requests that they made or blessings they were given, so that the Pentacle members could keep track of everything.
Nobody’s memory was perfect, and there were far too many people here to remember them all without writing it down.
They were making a video, but that took much longer to go through for answers, and was more useful when you forgot someone’s name and home location, but remembered their face.
The first ones in line were the Continental Representatives, who intended to swear a slightly different oath than the others, as they were already Rank Eight magic users, and a regular Oath of Fealty didn’t make much sense.
They had lands, duties and families elsewhere. They had only come here to help and to keep this world from going haywire.
So, instead of fealty, they would swear to recognize Wolfe’s rightful rule of this world, and pledge their support in the role of Continental Representatives.
That might encourage others who were reluctant to give the same oath, but the result would be the same from Wolfe’s point of view.
As long as everyone agreed that this was the way things were going to be, then they could start moving forward on unifying the rules and policies around the planet.
The first up was the Nymph Saint Josephine, who approached the throne with a smile and a casual sway to her hips that had half the people in the room, both men and women, mesmerized.
“I, Saint Josephine, Continental Representative of the continent of Fearia, do so swear that I recognize and support the rightful rule of the Magi King Wolfe Noxus. On behalf of those under me, I do swear that we accept your rule and governance of this world.” She announced.
Then, an unexpected pulse of magic spread through the room, and every Guardian and leader from her continent was marked with a small pendant of office. It was just a simple golden chain with the Noxus Family Logo on a token, and then the name of their territory.
Saint Josephine had a larger one in her hand, with the single word “Fearia” on it, representing the authority of the continental representative. It was so simple that Wolfe wondered how he had never realized it before.
They had all recognized the Representatives as having the right to speak on their behalf, and agree to contract terms. So, when their representative agreed, it contracted all the lands under her at the same time.
Then came Saint Gregor, the Satyr.
“I, Saint Gregor, Continental Representative of the Mist Continent, do so swear that I recognize and support the rightful rule of the Magi King Wolfe Noxus. On behalf of those under me, I do swear that we accept your rule and governance of this world.” He announced.
Then came the two Demonic Overlords, Damien and Cassanova. The same words bound their people, leaving only the Elven Prince and the aging Demon Lord who had taken on the shared role of Continental Representatives for Wolfe’s home Continent, better known to the rest of the world as the Forbidden Continent.
“We, the shared representatives of the Forbidden Continent, do hereby recognize King Wolfe Noxus as the King and Sovereign Monarch of all the lands under our supervision. Let those who do not recognize this declaration be marked to come forth and present themselves.
With this contract made, we pass our position of Representative to the Pentacles of Advisors under King Wolfe Noxus, and request our retirement fund.” They declared in unison with huge smiles on their faces.
Wolfe did not recall any discussions on a retirement fund, but the contract was made, and sitting in his hands, which now guaranteed them one.
“Oh, very sneaky, getting your retirement down in writing without any extra terms. But I have to admire your approach.
Now, is there any leader in the room who did not receive a token and wishes to swear individually, or not at all?” Wolfe asked.
Three groups of people stepped forward. Two looked reluctant, and Wolfe recognized them as small national leaders who had most ardently desired independence, and one was a man with his son and another young woman.
“First, we seem to have a family succession issue.” Wolfe declared, gesturing to the father and son pair.
The son smiled, while his father looked ready to strangle him.
The son spoke first. “By the laws of our nation, I inherit the throne when I choose, declare and bed my bride after my eighteenth birthday.”
His father snapped at him. “You met yesterday, and you haven’t even apologized to her father for taking her chastity in a hallway, much less married the girl. You are not ready to take my throne yet, boy.”
