Chapter 761: The Evil King (1/2)

Chapter 761: The Evil King (1/2)

The sound of Cecilia swallowing the rest of the food in her throat echoes through the silent room.

She is clearly shocked and upset at the same time upon discovering that all the food came from inside Lucien’s soul.

Cecilia still knows very little about the man, or rather, the devil in front of her; but as the only son of Michael, she fears that he might become like his father.

In fact, Lucien’s potential for evil is much greater than Michael’s since he was personally chosen by the Sin of Lust.

So, Cecilia can’t stop imagining what kind of things Lucien does with his sisters, especially Amelia, when they are alone.

All this instinctively makes her want to hate him, but in practice, everything about him, starting with his appearance and scent, and even the food he brings is divinely wonderful.

Such conflicting feelings leave Cecilia in a confused mess, and no matter how much she tries to appear calm in front of him, it’s evident that she’s not at all comfortable with this situation.

Lucien doesn’t like Cecilia’s attitude, but he understands that part of it is due to her feelings for Amelia, so he tries to be reasonable.

"Don’t worry," he speaks in a friendly tone. "This food is grown on the land and prepared with love and care by my wives, so it has nothing to do with my body or anything strange."

"Hmm..." Cecilia doesn’t know whether to believe Lucien, but she is still hungry and the food is very good, so she continues to devour everything, only with clear hesitation now.

Lucien just smiles at her, but Lust can’t resist commenting in his mind. "Except that your demonic energy is present in all this food from its core..."

"Try not to mess with her until I understand her feelings for Amelia," Lucien requests.

"Oh, you want to know if she can be a good mother to Amelia?" Lust asks.

"Yes," Lucien responds. "Just look at how Amelia smiles just by being near her..."

Lust wants to be optimistic, but she foresees that Lucien should always be prepared for the worst. "And what if she’s as messed up in the head as Michael? A bad mother is worse than no mother at all."

"If she can be a good mother, then I will let her be a part of our lives," Lucien comments.

"And if she can’t be a good mother anymore?" Lust insists on the worst scenario.

Lucien smiles at Cecilia while his eyes gleam with a devilishly purple and gold hue. "Then I will make her become a good mother."𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

"Hahahaha..." Lust laughs in Lucien’s mind. "I really want to see that, for real."

Setting aside thoughts of how to "punish" Cecilia, he turns back to question her. "Now that you’re fed, how about you start telling us something that makes sense."

Naomi and Donna nod together as they look at Cecilia with inquisitive expressions.

Eve and the other sisters are also curious, and Amelia looks at her mother with a pleading expression.

"Alright..." Cecilia wipes the crumbs from her mouth with a napkin before looking into Lucien’s eyes. "I’ll tell you what I know, so where should I start?"

"We want to know everything," Lucien says on behalf of himself and his sisters. "So from the very beginning."

"The very beginning?" Cecilia makes a thoughtful expression as she searches her mind for ancient memories.

"It all started a little over forty years ago," she begins. "Well, I don’t know anything about Michael’s life before that, and it all started with him."

Lucien doesn’t let Ludmila or Svetlana leave the room, so everyone listens to Cecilia’s story.

She begins by recounting how she was still very young and immature forty-two years ago. She was the only princess of a small kingdom in Belor.

Her home bordered the kingdom of Michael, the Kingdom of Serena, the mother of Sophia, and the lands that were taken over by the Silver Legion.

At that time, there wasn’t a major war as the Silver Legion simply conquered any small kingdom with ease.

Fear quickly spread across that half of the planet, and soon Cecilia’s parents received a message from the Silver Legion, demanding total surrender or total destruction.

Cecilia’s parents knew that those who accepted surrender were seen as pagan slaves by the people of the Silver Legion, and a life of misery was what they gained by surrendering.

"But what was the other option?" Cecilia becomes emotional remembering those dark days and exclaims.

She sighs and continues telling her story. At that time, she had to mature quickly due to the uncertainty of the future.

But soon after the Silver Legion sent their message, another messenger also appeared.

This was the messenger of Michael, who was organizing an alliance of smaller kingdoms to face the Silver Legion.

Cecilia and her parents wondered who this bold young Prince was and discovered that he had just become King due to the death of the previous king.

At that time, Michael’s Kingdom wasn’t much larger than the others, and he wasn’t famous.

Cecilia pauses for a second before looking at Eve. "Actually, Michael never had royal heritage, he was just a poor commoner, and it was his mother, the true heir of the old king, who chose him as her husband."

Eve can’t help but make a face of disgust upon hearing that, but inside she feels sad for her mother having made such a poor choice.

"Don’t think badly of her," Cecilia requests of Eve. "And also don’t get me wrong, I hate Michael and loathe him more than you ever will."

Eve and the others look confused, so Cecilia quickly explains that at that time, before black magic and sacrificing everything for vengeance, Michael was a good person.

"Well, he must have been at least decent since your mother chose him," Cecilia says to Eve. "That kind of irrational love is also foreign to me, so don’t ask me why it went the way it did."

Cecilia’s words sound very sad, and while some of Lucien’s sisters are grateful for already having found that kind of love, the others are grateful for the powerful familial love that binds them.

Everyone can see the emptiness in Cecilia’s gaze while Lucien and his sisters have a glow in their eyes that doesn’t fade even in the face of any difficulty.

Cecilia can’t prevent jealousy from creeping up from the darkest depths of her heart, seeing how united the siblings are.

But she tries to contain such desires and continues the story, saying that Michael also loved Eve’s mother, well, that was the only reason someone would want to face the Silver Legion.

Eve’s mother supported Michael, but things clearly didn’t end well, and the story reaches the part Eve likes least to imagine.

Michael was gaining people’s support, which made the leader of the Silver Legion act quickly and with extreme brutality.

He killed Eve’s mother while she was giving birth and threatened to do the same to what was thought to be Michael’s only daughter.

Everyone thought Michael would accept defeat, but instead, he was consumed by hatred and turned to dark magic through blasphemous rituals to gain power.

Michael indeed became much more powerful, but that also changed him even further.

What was once a man who loved his wife above everything became a tyrant who coerced neighboring kingdoms to join his resistance or become his enemies too.

Cecilia casts a quick glance at Donna before continuing. "Of course, there was resistance, but Michael used dark and malefic practices to coerce people."

People suffered with the Silver Legion advancing on one side and Michael pressing them from behind, so they had to choose a side.

And unlike the Silver Legion, Michael and his people weren’t religious supremacists, so the smaller kingdoms preferred to ally with him in hopes of a better life.

"So kingdom after kingdom, each accepted him as their King," Cecilia says while looking at Lucien’s sisters. "Your mothers were royalty from the five most powerful kingdoms that hadn’t yet been dominated by the Silver Legion..."

Michael surprised everyone by making a very specific request at that time. He didn’t want to marry the princesses of those kingdoms to ensure the loyalty of their people, but something even more significant...

Hearing Cecilia’s words, Lucien can already predict what she’s about to say. "Royal heirs with his own blood."

"Exactly," Cecilia nods. "He demanded a child with the main royal descendant of each of those kingdoms, and that’s how you were born."

"To be mere bargaining chips!" Donna exclaims furiously, not hiding her hostility towards Cecilia.

"No," Cecilia calmly denies. "Michael knew he couldn’t win that war even with the support of each independent small kingdom... by that time, he must have been planning to unite you with the Seven Deadly Sins so you could carry out his vengeance."

"That’s even worse..." Claire comments, also upset.

Lucien agrees that Michael’s actions only make him appear worse, but he is more curious about who was already helping Michael at that time, as it’s evident he was receiving support from the shadows.

[Probably from my mother?] Lucien can’t help but think that way.
