Chapter 4668: Bizarre

Feng Jiu was originally refining medicinal pills in her space. Just as she had finished refining a batch of pills and was about to open the furnace, she heard Leng Hua’s anxious cries and the sound of someone banging on the door. She immediately rushed out, but upon opening the cabin door, she was met with disorienting darkness and a world spinning around her. She couldn’t even stand steadily and swayed with the violent shaking of the ship.

In that instant, she felt an immense force tugging at the airship, causing it to lose all stability before being violently sucked into something. A wave of dizziness washed over her, followed by the sharp crack of the airship’s protective barrier shattering. The vessel then plummeted downwards as if it had been dropped from an extreme height.

“No! Du Fan, Leng Shuang, quickly follow me and stabilize the airship! Leng Hua, take care of the three children and do not let them come out!” Feng Jiu shouted without hesitation. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, she swiftly gathered her spiritual energy and propelled herself out of the airship, moving rapidly beneath it to try and counteract its descent.

The moment her command rang out, Du Fan and Leng Shuang reacted with equal speed. They each took hold of one of the three corners of the plummeting airship. However, even with their combined spiritual energy reinforcing the vessel, they struggled against the overwhelming force that was throwing it around. Consequently, as the airship crashed downwards, they could only manage to decelerate its fall and minimize the extent of the damage.

Bang, bang, bang!

The airship slammed onto the ground with a jarring impact but did not come to an immediate stop. Instead, it skidded for approximately ten metres before colliding with several trees, finally grinding to a halt after scraping against the sand and gravel.

Once the dust settled and the airship was still, Feng Jiu, Du Fan, and Leng Shuang climbed out, a collective sigh of relief escaping their lips. Immediately thinking of the three children who were still inside, Feng Jiu swiftly jumped back onto the damaged airship.

“How are the children?” Feng Jiu asked urgently.

Only then did Leng Hua cautiously open the door to the children’s cabin. He saw Hao’er tightly embracing Muchen and Muyue, the three of them huddled together on the floor, their faces pale with fear and shock. Upon seeing him, they seemed to release a collective breath they hadn’t realized they were holding and quickly scrambled to their feet.

“Mother!”

The three children rushed towards Feng Jiu, their small bodies trembling with lingering fright.

“It’s alright, are any of you hurt?” Feng Jiu asked, her eyes carefully scanning each child for any signs of injury from the violent shaking.

“No, we fell onto the deck and couldn’t get up, so we didn’t hurt ourselves,” Hao’er replied.

“Mm hmm, no injuries,” Muchen and Muyue echoed in agreement, nodding their heads.

“That’s good,” Feng Jiu breathed a sigh of relief, gently touching their small faces. Just then, a realization seemed to strike her, and she led them out of the damaged cabin. Her brow furrowed involuntarily as she took in the unfamiliar surroundings.

Earlier, she had been entirely focused on trying to stabilize the plummeting airship and hadn’t had a moment to observe their descent. Now, as she looked around, she found the place to be strangely oppressive.

Furthermore, while it had been midday when they were previously flying, here it was pitch black, and an unnerving silence hung in the air. There wasn’t even a trace of spiritual energy, as if they had somehow arrived in a place where it was completely blocked.

“Master, a vortex suddenly appeared in the sky earlier, so we quickly turned the ship around, but we were sucked in before we could escape,” Du Fan explained, his gaze sweeping over the surroundings, a growing sense of unease evident in his expression.

“Why hasn’t that person emerged?” Feng Jiu murmured, only then realizing that the masked man, who had been a passenger, had not made an appearance since the chaotic descent.
