Chapter 803 - Chapter 803: Chapter 803 ConquestChapter 803: Chapter 803 Conquest
Li Yao said, “Allow me to keep a little mystery, I promise to bring you a surprise.”
“I’ll be waiting,” the Queen finished and drifted away. The skeletons she had summoned were already lined up, awaiting orders.
This was the most terrifying aspect of the Dark Ranger. Maybe the combat ability of a Dark Ranger wasn’t the strongest, but give her a chance, and the Dark Ranger could create a formidable army.
Especially at the Queen’s level, the skeletons she summoned were of limited use in fights against the strong, but on the battlefield, they could change the outcome of the war.
That was the source of the Queen’s confidence. Although she only had a small number of Dark Rangers for now, with just one opportunity, she would have an indomitable skeleton legion.
The Queen summoned thousands of skeletons, suddenly providing Starfire’s side with what seemed like a substandard faction-level boss. The principle was the same—they possessed faction leader attributes but lacked faction leader skills and combat determination.
But in legion combat, having attributes was enough.
Starfire had completely taken control of one corner of the city. The other city fragments had certainly noticed what was happening here, but they were powerless to intervene.
The planar passages, already unstable without the chains’ restraint, could only be traversed by forcibly dismantling and passing through the city using spatial power.
Moreover, because of the energy, these city fragments couldn’t connect properly, but they still transformed their disadvantage into an advantage. These fragments became sky fortresses, better positioned to bombard the undead’s army below.
But what they never anticipated was that Starfire would take over a fragment in such a manner.
What reassured them was that these fragments were immobile and couldn’t attack each other. Taking another one would be even more difficult, and they had prepared their defenses, not giving Starfire any chances to exploit.
But would reality be as they expected? When a thousand banshees heard about Li Yao’s plan to harness the energy of spatial distortions to draw a floating array, every banshee’s eyes sparkled.
Magic City was originally a nickname for the High Elves, but with the advent of a Floating City, the title had changed hands, always a sore point for all High Elves.
Although they controlled the floating arrays, their technology was still lacking in some way, preventing them from creating such a large floating city.
Although they were now dead and had become banshees, that regret remained.
Hearing Li Yao’s plan now, they were all stirred.
Leading the banshees was actually a female official. She laughed and said, “Your plan is really perfect. Although our floating arrays are somewhat inferior to those of humans, with the current spatial distortions and the impact of the spatial tunnels on these city fragments, we can fully control them, and they are even more flexible.”
“That’s exactly what I thought, which is why I asked the teacher for the banshees. I didn’t expect Sister to come too, it’s really beyond my expectations,” said Li Yao.
“Hmm, a thousand banshees is still quite a lot. It seems you intend to control many floating fragments, right?” the female official observed Li Yao’s intentions.
“Yes, I wonder if this will give the teacher a pleasant surprise,” Li Yao said, frowning. “What I’m worried about now is whether there will be enough time.”
The female official shook her head slightly: “The General is sure to love this strategy and will give you his fullest support. As for feasibility, with us here, what’s there to worry about? I assure you, in five minutes, this fragment of the city will start floating and moving.”
Soon after, the entire city fragment was in disarray, utter chaos, as the banshees began to collaborate and draw the array, the whole fragment bathed in light.
“Set it up quickly. The materials spent are not tenfold of what’s precise—we’re really investing heavily this time. I hope your plan works out; otherwise, the General might take you apart and sell you for money,” the female official joked.
Li Yao smiled wryly, “Clearly it was you who brought over the materials.”
“But you are the planner, we are simply following orders.” The female officer continued, “Prairie Officer, the array is fully deployed, you may now give the command.”
Li Yao nodded his head and said loudly, “Everyone, take your positions, Starfire Team, control the cannons and stone throwers.”
Li Yao started making arrangements. The players of Starfire were extremely excited; this was a great opportunity to earn military achievements, and although the bulk of the scoring was fixed, individuals could still receive compensation if they earned enough.
“I now order Fragment Base Number One to rise one hundred and fifty yards.”
Following Li Yao’s command, the city fragment ceased its descent and instead began to rise slowly, eventually standing taller than the other surrounding fragments.
“Pass my command: Fragment Base Number One to rotate slowly.”
Fragment Base Number One began to turn slowly, though at a not-so-fast speed.
“Now heed my command, target is the shard below and to the left, No. 2 Shard, command the attack.”
The Unparalleled Enchantress, on her nightmare, looked down and said, “Third Legion, attack.”
At this moment, the Third Legion was positioned directly opposite the distant No. 2 Shard named by Li Yao, and the stone throwers and cannons fired at once.
With the high ground advantage, the explosive shells from the cannons and stone throwers wreaked havoc on the crowd on the shard, causing massive casualties.
Countless Lizardmen started cursing; they had never expected that the shard seized by human players would not continue to fall but ascend instead.
Stone throwers could aim upwards, but they couldn’t adjust to a very high angle and were nowhere near able to hit Fragment Base Number One.
Both the Lizardmen players and NPCs were somewhat at a loss, just as the players besieging from below had no good strategies against them; they had even less of an idea of how to deal with No. 1 Shard.
As the bombardment continued, the Lizard-Man Army on No. 2 Shard was in complete disarray.
“Bat Riders prepare to ascend; target No. 2 Shard.”
The Bat Riders had been itching to move; following Li Yao’s command, countless Dark Rangers riding bats began to assault No. 2 Shard.
“Cease fire, avoid friendly fire,” Li Yao pondered before saying, “Banshee Team, transport the thirty thousand people below onto this shard.”
On one hand, thirty thousand players were transported up. They had witnessed the battle just now and were eager to join the fray themselves; now that the opportunity had come, how could they not seize it.
Meanwhile, the battlefield on No. 2 Shard was reaching its conclusion. They had been battered by the cannons and were in utter chaos, facing the sky full of Arrow Rain they could only be slaughtered, and with Skeletons being summoned one by one, the Lizardmen’s defeat was inevitable.
Moments later, with the transport of the Bat Riders, No. 2 Shard had an additional thirty thousand people, while Banshees were frantically restraining the array, turning the second shard into a mobile Sky Fortress.
Meanwhile, No. 1 Shard, under the command of Li Yao, adjusted its altitude once again and then moved a certain distance, targeting the shard that Li Yao named No. 3 Shard.
The Lizardmen atop No. 3 Shard’s faces went pale with fear; they didn’t know what to do anymore…
