MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 1452 - 1452: Myriad Prodigies: Conversations

“…Eh?”

Not expecting to be invited to such a well-renowned organization all of a sudden, both Valyr and Ataraxia briefly looked at each other in confusion, only to then return the same expression back to the director before them.

For a noble clan’s status to remain amidst the passage of time, it was imperative for them to establish a group that would guard both its interests, as well as the members of its clan.

Though these groups went under various names depending on the clan they protected, all of these groups were commonly known by many as the nobility guards.

Of course, just like the nobilities they serve, the nobility guards also came in various ranks, with each rank carrying a similar level of prestige and authority.

Naturally, since the ranks of nobility guards corresponded to the noble they served, there also existed guards for Royal and Imperial clans, which were more commonly known as Royal Guards and Imperial Guards to distinguish them from the others.

Unlike the nobility guards of lesser noble clans, becoming either a Royal Guard or an Imperial Guard was considered to be a goal by many, especially once one began to consider the amount of resources they would have access to once becoming a part of the group’s corresponding clan.

However, not only did becoming such a guard allow one to gain access to plenty of resources, but it also allowed one’s authority to stand above even kings of various kingdoms.

A good example of this would be Algerie Kingdom’s Imperial Guards, with each of its members being renowned for their feats in the battlefield, as well as the feats that they’ve accomplished for the kingdom.

Due to their contributions to the kingdom, the members of the Algerie Imperial Guards were able to obtain titles of nobility. However, such titles paled in comparison to the authority they wielded whenever they acted as a representative of the kingdom.

For if the Algerie Kingdom chose to do so, the Imperial Guards would have both the power and the authority to make the multiple kingdoms in its surroundings kneel towards it in deference.

On the other hand, the offer Lunarossa gave out the two of them was far greater in comparison. After all, from the name of the group alone, becoming a part of the Meltierre Imperial Guards meant that one guarded the Meltierre Empire.

Though becoming a part of such a prestigious group came with its own caveats, both Valyr and Ataraxia felt that accepting such an offer wouldn’t bring too much harm to them, especially considering the amount of resources that were available within an empire.

Not only that, but with the authority that would be vested in them the moment they became Meltierre Imperial Guards, a lot of problems that could possibly pop up along the way would be easily resolved.

After all, they could just use the authority of the Meltierre Empire to resolve it.

But of course, they weren’t stupid enough to accept it outright. The two of them knew there was a chance they’d have to give up more in exchange for Lunarossa’s offer.

“What conditions do we have to fulfill if we were to accept?” Valyr asked Lunarossa in a polite tone.

“Just the minimum that’s expected of the guards,” replied the director, understanding the reason behind the young man’s question.

“Once you become a part of the guards, all you need to do is fulfill a mission every five years and respond to the urgent calls of the empire. That’s all,” she said, reassuring him.

“Is that really all, Director?” Ataraxia asked after that, getting the feeling that the woman was hiding something from them.

“Well, there is.” Lunarossa wryly smiled, briefly glancing at the four arbiters surrounding her. “However, under current circumstances, I’m afraid I can’t discuss those conditions any further.”

“Nevertheless, I assure you that both of your statuses would soar to the top if you were to accept,” she continued. “Not only that, but the empire shall allocate a certain amount of resources to you two in the hopes of improving your strengths as fast as possible.”

“Of course, if that isn’t enough to show the sincerity behind my offer, I’ve also been given the permission to grant you higher nobility ranks if need be.”

Hearing those words, the four arbiters began to look at her with shock, only to then feel a sense of defeat well up within them.

Though they’d been informed beforehand that the director was planning to recruit the two of them into the organization she represented, the four arbiters also planned to do something similar, enticing them with the greatest benefits they could possibly offer under their current level of authority.

However, no matter how much benefits or resources the arbiters offered them…

Could they offer anything better than a prestigious title of nobility?

“If you two accept my invite, both of you shall be given the nobility rank of Imperial Baron directly,” Lunarossa said to the two after some time, confident that her words thus far had begun to entice them.

“Naturally, this title shall be fully recognized by the Meltierre Empire. You won’t have to worry about the title not being recognized anywhere else.”

“So… will you accept?”

For a while after her question, the room became deafeningly silent, with the four arbiters having grim expressions on their faces.

If they still felt that they had a chance to rope Valyr and Ataraxia into their organizations at first, such feelings had already thoroughly been crushed the moment Lunarossa told them they’d become Imperial Barons.

Although a Baron was a level of nobility that was neither low nor high on the ranks of nobility, the fact that the word ‘Imperial’ had been added before it changed that notion entirely.

That was because an Imperial Baron was more or less equivalent to a normal Earl, a being that commanded a high level of authority even within kingdoms.

Though, when comparing the two, an Imperial Baron would still be in the lead, solely because their noble rank had the Imperial prefix added to it.

With that, even a normal Marquis would lose out to them in terms of authority.

“Er…” Scratching the back of his head as he listened to Lunarossa’s explanation, Valyr closed his eyes for a bit as he weighed out the pros and cons of accepting her offer.

Briefly glancing at Ataraxia after that, the young man eventually let out a soft exhale as he looked back at the director, giving her a firm nod not long after.

“We accept your offer, Director.”

“I’m pleased to see you two making the right choice,” said Lunarossa in response, giving the two a genuine smile.

“Though it’ll only officially take effect once the tournament is over…”

“Welcome to the Meltierre Imperial Guards in advance.”
