MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith
Chapter 1532 - 1532: Masterwork Equipment“Is that so?”
At those words, the young man fell silent for a bit, the gears in his mind turning as he glanced at Ataraxia every once in a while.
Then, feeling like he’d arrived at a conclusion, he looked back at Byron and asked, “Do you think there’s the possibility of him misinterpreting your words?”
“Possibly,” replied Byron, giving the idea a bit of a thought. “After all, we often message each other, asking each side’s progress towards the respective requests we’ve accepted from the empire.”
“I guess Julian interpreted my request of inviting you to work on one as a small cry for assistance.” The man wryly smiled after that. “With how often I tell him that I’m swamped with the empire’s requests, I wouldn’t be surprised if he did.”
“I see.” Clearing up the confusion that ensued due to Julian’s interpretation of the matter, Valyr went ahead and proceeded onto the next topic he had in mind.
“So, just to double check, you’ve invited me to come to the empire to work on the request involving my arquebus blueprint, right?”
“Yes.” Byron nodded in response. “That is the reason why I’ve invited you to come here.”
“After all, who would be a better choice to craft a masterwork weapon based on the arquebus blueprint if not the creator of the arquebus himself?”
Though he faintly nodded in agreement, the young man soon fell silent.
With how long he’d been forging equipment, Valyr gradually came to understand that any type of equipment made a blacksmith could fall under one of three types.
The first type was the common equipment a blacksmith typically made. Most of the time, these equipment had a rarity that ranged between Common to Epic and only had a single innate skill at most, two if one were lucky.
As for the second type, those equipment were none other than artifacts. In fact, even equipment that emulated the properties of other artifacts fell under this type.
After all, even a poor Emulation of an artifact obtained the official recognition of the system, considering that Emulations had far more skills in its arsenal that could greatly boost its user’s capabilities.
However, forging one greatly depended on luck, with one’s skill only marginally increasing the chances of the equipment being forged becoming an artifact. Because of that, artifacts had rarities that could be as low as Common, or as high as Divine.
The last type could be considered the middle ground between the first two types, boasting a high enough rarity to matter while also containing a decent number of innate skills that could empower the user.
These equipment… were known as masterwork equipment.
Although masterwork equipment gained no recognition from the system, many people still highly sought one for themselves. In fact, many blacksmiths had become known for consistently forging masterwork equipment, with Julian and Byron being good examples of those blacksmiths.
For a piece of equipment to be classified as masterwork equipment, it would first have to fulfill three conditions.
The first condition one needed to fulfill was that the equipment should have no restrictions on who could use it. If there were any restrictions on who could use the equipment, the restriction should at least be easily attainable.
On the other hand, the second condition one needed to fulfill was that the rarity of the equipment should reach Legendary grade at the very least.
Then again, there were those who greatly believed that even Epic+ grade equipment could be classified as masterwork equipment.
As for the third condition, the equipment should at least have three innate skills affixed to it, though some also accept it if the equipment had one normal skill and one ultimate skill affixed to it.
Unsurprisingly, many blacksmiths attempting to forge masterwork equipment mostly got stuck at achieving this final step. Sometimes it was due to a lack of proper materials, while at other times, it was due to a lack of preparation.
But of course, the most common reason blacksmiths gave whenever they failed to forge masterwork equipment was that they overestimated their abilities.
“Are there any specific conditions I need to achieve?” Taking a bit of time to sort out his thoughts, Valyr inwardly let out a faint sigh as he began to ask Byron about the specifics.
“The rarity should at least reach Legendary,” replied Byron, going over the conditions one by one in the off-chance Valyr didn’t know about it. “Also, it should have at least three innate skills. However, the empire will also accept two innate skills if one of them is an ultimate skill.”
Valyr faintly nodded at those words. “Anything else?”
“Although the empire said that they didn’t mind if it was just a better version of the commonly produced arquebus, they did say that they would prefer if it was easier to operate,” answered Byron after a slight pause.
“As for the other possible conditions they might have, you’ll have to get those from the empire yourself.”
“Understood.” Asking about where he needed to go to officially receive the request, as well as the workshop he’d be occupying to work on it, Valyr and Ataraxia eventually left Byron’s personal workshop after asking a few more questions.
Making their way to the main hall of the guild, the two soon asked one of the guild’s staff to lead them to the private workshops, to which the staff member quickly obliged.
With that, it took them less than 10 minutes to arrive at the private workshop Byron allocated to them, only for their jaws to slacken the moment they saw the workshop in person.
“Holy shit…”
Containing a plethora of forging equipment that could be said to be the pinnacle of what was currently possible on Veldanyr, the private workshop Byron allocated to the two occupied at least three times as much space as the workshop they had back at Algerie Kingdom.
‘I guess it’s because he took the skill I had into consideration,’ thought Valyr to himself, easily confirming that he had more than enough space to have at least two production lines running while he was working on the masterwork weapon.
However, rather than start working on the masterwork weapon at that very instant, the young man instead looked at Ataraxia with a knowing gaze. “I guess I’ll see you later, then?”
Ataraxia nodded in return. “It won’t take long… probably.”
Nodding at those words, Valyr watched as his other identity slowly left the workshop.
Then, after getting confirmation from Ataraxia that he’d fully left the Blacksmith Guild, the young man proceeded to lie down on a nearby chair… and fall asleep.
