MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith
Chapter 1536 - 1536: Grinding Experience (4)“…What am I missing, exactly?”
Helping himself to the refreshments and other leisurely amenities that came included with the room he booked, Ataraxia decided to take a brief break from grinding XP as he went over the various fights he did thus far.
“First, I slowly increased the level of the monsters to the peak of Rank 5 to get used to fighting them.”
“Then, once I got used to them, I then began to increase the monsters’ strengths by tier, pushing their fighting strength to Mythic Elite tier by the time I felt like I was reaching my limits.”
“Yet, even with all of that… I still haven’t gotten [Apex Hunter],” murmured the young man to himself, taking a sip of his drink as he pondered over it.
Although the idea of obtaining a title similar to [Apex Hunter] or [Slayer of Ascendants] didn’t come to him at first, by the time Ataraxia had pushed the monsters he fought to the peak of Rank 4, it was then did he realize that he had an opportunity to get a similar title for his current identity.
Of course, with how long he’d fighting Elite-tier monsters and their multiple possible variants at this point, the young man had more or less confirmed that he wouldn’t be able to obtain [Slayer of Ascendants] whatsoever.
After all, he didn’t get the title’s base version, [Signs of a True Elite], the first time he fought against an Elite-tier monster.
With that, the young man felt that his chances of obtaining [Apex Hunter] were hunter.
Well… a possibly inferior version of the title anyway.
Unfortunately for him, even after reaching requirements that would have triggered an inferior version of the title to appear multiple times in a row, not even once did Ataraxia receive a notification that he obtained a title with similar effects to [Apex Hunter].
Arriving at that realization, the young man briefly wondered whether he was missing any other requirement that could have been necessary for a different version of [Apex Hunter] to appear.
Because of that, he began to push himself even further, fighting against multiple Mythic Elite-tier monsters at the peak of Rank 5 in the hopes of obtaining that elusive title.
Yet, even with him going beyond what a peak Rank 3 class holder would normally be able to achieve, the system did not send him any notification of a new title whatsoever, causing his fighting spirit to eventually burn out.
“…Surely there’s got to be another title similar to [Apex Hunter] available, right?” muttered Ataraxia to himself after a long period of silence, the fighting spirit that had died earlier gradually rekindling itself in the process.
Though he had already obtained confirmation through his fights multiple times that it was nigh-impossible for both identities to have the same title at the same time, Ataraxia still had the feeling that there was a title similar to [Apex Hunter] just waiting to be discovered.
And so, the young man decided to pick himself up one last time, letting go of any and all internal restraints he previously had towards achieving the goal of obtaining a title similar to [Apex Hunter].
“Say…” Letting out a long exhale in the midst of regaining his bearings, Ataraxia glanced at the staff for a bit before shifting his attention towards the leader. “Is Level 100 the limit for the monsters the killing ground has to offer?”
“That… is the limit of the killing ground,” said the leader in return after giving it some thought. “However… with the Imperial Alchemist’s backing, I suppose it wouldn’t be too difficult to arrange a fight against a Myth-level being.”
“…No need.” Feeling like arranging a fight against a Myth-level being was too much of a hassle, the young man decided to change his question to something else. “How about monster tier? Is Mythic Elite the highest the killing ground can go?”
“We can still push it up a couple of notches,” replied the leader as if it was waiting for this question. “If you want, we could have the next batch of monsters you fight be Divine Elite-tier.”
“Have them be at Ancient Elite-tier for now,” said the young man in response, nodding as he kept the information in mind. “Only when I get used to fighting Ancient Elite-tier monsters will I try my hand at fighting against Divine Elite-tier ones.”
“Understood.”
With Ataraxia relaying his idea of what he wanted to fight next to the staff, the staff immediately got to work readjusting the killing grounds according to the suggestion the young man gave them.
At the same time, the young man looked at the attendant that accompanied him to the room. “How much time do I have left before my stay is over?”
“Let me check…” Taking out her tablet in response to the question, the attendant tapped a few things on it for a bit before obtaining the answer he sought. “Around three more days.”
“Three more days…” murmured Ataraxia in return, only to nod soon after.
“That’s more than enough time.”
…
Whoosh!
After the staff had given him a heads-up that the killing ground was adjusted according to his new specifications, Ataraxia went ahead and continued where he left off, starting off his first fight of the second batch against a ferocious Ancient Elite-tier monster.
Of course, with his original identity already having fought against Divine Elite-tier monsters with superb ease, the young man made use of the combat experience they shared to gradually win over his first opponent, utilizing his wits to make up for his lack of buffs.
Relying on the same strategy to fight against his next set of opponents, the young man gradually accumulated more and more experience in fighting these monsters, slowly finding ways that would allow him to take less time in killing one.
Little by little, the speed at which he fought the Ancient Elite-tier monsters increased, prompting him to send a message to the staff to increase the monsters he fought at once.
Then, once he got used to fighting groups of Ancient Elite-tier monsters with relative ease, he moved onto the final tier of monsters available through the killing grounds, which were Divine Elite-tier monsters at peak Rank 5.
Following the same grind he did for the Ancient Elite-tier monsters, Ataraxia slowly got used to fighting them, first ensuring that he was guaranteed to win against them in any situation.
After that, he began to optimize his movements, only to optimize them even further once he’d gained enough courage and experience to fight against a group of Divine Elite-tier monsters at once.
Continuing to pin his hopes on the instinctive feeling he got, the young man continued to fight against wave after wave of Divine Elite-tier monsters, only taking a break when he felt like he’d fully exhausted himself both physically and mentally.
And thus, Ataraxia spent almost the entirety of his remaining days in the killing grounds in that manner, exerting himself as much as possible while still believing that he’d get a title similar to [Apex Hunter] at some point.
Surprisingly, by the time he killed his thousandth Divine Elite-tier monster in a row…
That belief manifested into something tangible.
