In the past, humanity faced several attacks in a row from the second world. Thousands of monsters that exterminated and killed civilians, hordes of colossal giants that destroyed buildings, and dragons that turned entire cities into dust. All this happened after the two worlds were connected.
Centuries ago, the world was untouched by magic. Until suddenly, everyone had access to this blessing. In the beginning, using these powers was difficult and costly. People were born with one ability or another and stayed with it; over time, scholars began to understand the workings of mana logic, channeling and transforming magic into what is known today.
In the years following the emergence of mana and magic, elves, dwarves, and half-beasts began to be born naturally around the world. Then, with a better understanding of mana, world hunger was exterminated, as magic could be used for food production.
Houses could be built in seconds with earth magics, and even the most arid deserts could have gigantic rivers with the power of a good water mage. The world quickly transformed to a better place, and just when everyone thought the worldly challenges and fears were over, portals began to appear.
Every day, connections to a different land appeared. Green, red, purple and black portals led to different and unrecognizable places. Flying islands, lava seas, colossal forests, crystal paradises and ice cliffs. When a portal remained open long enough, the monsters within it began to come out, but by exterminating a creature, for the first time an individual could feel human evolution happening.
'Why is he going over the whole story?' Ryan thought, as he watched John Wrynn's speech.
'<I didn't know that>
- Heh? Elves started coming out of human wombs, and you guys thought that was normal? -
'I thought you guys were busy'
<Livia said she needed to train in the afternoon>
Ryan was wearing a black suit, from a distance he looked a bit like what one would expect from a guild official. But marked on his chest was the gold Traveler Rank S badge, a mark that signaled to everyone that he was significantly powerful.
John was standing on a flying platform, in front of hundreds of high-ranking members of the guild. Just counting by S Rank travelers, the amount was already significantly higher compared to those present in the abyssal realm.
'I wonder where they all were...' he thought, as he watched that crowd.
ραndαsΝοvεl.cοm After getting ready, Ryan walked along with Aether into yet another portal that led to a gigantic showroom. Looking away, the blond was bored, reading a book.
"Today, I have gathered you all together to announce that we have finally managed to find a key. An answer to why portals are invading us, after years of searching, we have found a way to neutralize portals. There are still doubts whether this tool can work with the impacts, but that's why we have you.
Behind John, a hologram appeared with the projection of a camera. Inside was a sort of cube surrounded with red magic circles that were spinning rapidly from side to side, around that cube were phrases written in elven that glowed as they spun around that item.
Pointing to the projection, John shouted to the audience "This is the first World Key, the way humanity has found to close the doors that are invading our world!" and cheerfully, he pointed to Ryan Whitemane who was standing in front of him, standing in the first few rows "And the travelers are our way to close the impacts".
Behind John, a graph with the mana flow and the map of the planet appeared. Hundreds of red dots appeared from side to side, while gigantic spheres appeared, flashing as they covered wide areas. "This is the first official announcement, but the portal we received last month was just the beginning. Therefore, the guild is bringing as many travelers from the four continents as possible to the cities of Lacaster, Neodrazzil and Khalazhan. We cannot bow to the adversity of the world in which we have emerged, even with difficulties, the world needs your help."
A strange feeling began to arise in Ryan's body, his eyes were sensing the danger that could occur at any moment, his body began to receive that feeling that something greater was about to occur. Behind John Wrynn the graph began to grow larger and larger, warning that the energy readings were increasing. With a smile, that old man with the white hair turned to everyone in the audience.
There was no elation or nervousness, everyone there was a warrior or a member who was used to this kind of situation. John's eyes were shining under his scar, and with a shout, he announced that a new impact was detected "IT'S OUR TIME WARRIORS" he said.
The travelers left the room and began their preparations, but Ryan decided to take the quickest route. Running out of the room, along with Aether the two went to the portal that the guild opened to a region near the battle. "They'll probably try to use the cube now" said the blond, who went through the portal along with Ryan.
The guild trucks were still arriving on site, and amidst a large white sandy beach, Ryan watched as trucks and cars from the guild's preparation teams appeared from side to side. Within seconds bases were set up, barricades were created with earth magic, and men in lab coats came out to analyze the information from the portal.
"You! Whitemane am I right?! Come here!" said one of the men in lab coats. Approaching, he held out a piece of paper with instructions. "I know you are an experienced water mage, so please help us.
To avoid natural problems, such as sea animal death, Ryan was asked to create a current to make the beach animals move away, at least while the team creating the barrier portals had not yet shown up.
Nodding his head, he brought both hands together in front of the sea breaks. As the waves rose, the portal exploded in front of him, with no time to lose focus, he controlled the seawater to create a slight flow that would send the fish and animals away.
"That should do for now" he said, and soon after, he began to pay attention to what was happening in the sky.
The portal had appeared near the clouds as a completely black sphere with lightning spinning from side to side. The clouds began to swirl around that sphere, which slowly increased in size. The sky was getting grayer and grayer as the rays from the portal struck the clouds illuminating the entire horizon.
Aether took off and with a wave of his hands created a sphere of energy around the portal, creating a temporary barrier that went from the sky to the sand on the beach. "Ryan! Can you help me?" he said.
With a mental transmission, the blond sent a message to him "Try removing some of the clouds, it looks like the portal using them to crair energy."
When Ryan activated his Demon Sight, he noticed that there was a strange electrical flow between the clouds that beat from outside to inside the portal.
'This shit is using the clouds as a battery, I've never seen anything like this happen.
A few seconds later, a man dressed in silver armor emerged from a blue portal amidst the sands of the beach. In his hand he held that magic cube, the feeling Ryan had was only complete disgust for that invention.
'That's, bizarre'
Even Nyx and Lux were startled by what was in front of them. The cube possessed a flow of mana so intense it was nauseating, there were hundreds of layers of magic one after the other. Different types of magic intertwined, both elven incantations and human runes and magic circles.
The man in the armor held out the cube, which began to glow with an even more intense golden light. Two men in lab coats ran from one side of that warrior to the other, placing two reservoirs of mana. When the World Key was activated, a reverse flow of mana appeared in the beach area, removing some mana from everyone in that place.
The magical armor of the man carrying that box was probably reinforced to avoid the impacts of what the key could do, but as that bush spun rapidly, the body of that looser was consumed alive by that machine. Screaming in pain, he cried out as he faced his own death.
The armor quickly broke in his hands, revealing that his skin was being sucked and torn. With his bones out, the cube began to suck up his mana reservoirs, which caused him to hold on for a while longer.
A gigantic bolt of lightning surged towards the portal, coming out of the cube. Ryan was staring intently at it, keeping a certain distance next to Aether.
"That might explode" said the blond man, in a mental transmission, Ryan answered him mentally "That machine is not going to explode, the energy is being stored successfully".
The portal was successfully shrinking in size, but that soldier's body was completely consumed by the cube.
