This wasn’t just grief from losing a loved one either but the destruction of precious memories and places. Things that nothing short of reversing time could bring back. Despite this however most people chalked the attack up to bad luck and were mostly just glad I took care of the one behind it and revived so many people. Even though they were genuinely grateful for this the vast majority of the village held some unease at the level of power I had. It was quite like how one felt in the face of a nuclear bomb that while mostly inert had the potential to level cities.-
There was awe and trepidation at it with most being uncomfortable merely being nearby even if it was irrational. And it was irrational, I had never done anything that would suggest I was going to turn violent towards the village so there was no reason to believe I would. The mere speculation was enough to unsettle however and I was helpless to do anything about it. The only people not bothered by my power were those who knew me personally such as Naruto, Kakashi and Karin.-
Naruto himself had returned a short time after Pain had attacked the village but since I had already dealt with the problem he didn’t get to show off his new sage mode at the time. It took me a month after my mass revival to fully restore my lifeforce to the way it was before. By this time my sensei had already returned and informed the village of the decisions made during the Gokage meeting. All of the kages agreed that the akatsuki was far too dangerous and needed to be stopped. For the first time ever all five great shinobi villages were in alliance with a common enemy who ironically did it to themselves by sending Sasuke to crash the meeting and attack Killer B.-
Before that the kages were unwilling to come to a compromise but the attack forced one. The fact the akatsuki hadn’t been disbanded after it’s leaders death exposed the fact that things weren’t so cut and dry. The fact Sasuke showed himself to have a mangekyou sharingan helped move things along in the meeting as the biggest obstacle, Onoki, remembered Madara with his own mangekyou. My own existence having been fully revealed was also a source of contention as I was too powerful, it made the other kage uncomfortable.-
One of the conditions put forth by the other kages for the alliance was as a result my immediate and most importantly permanent retirement from being a shinobi. Originally it was my death to restore the balance but my sensei made it clear that wasn’t an option. Both because I was her student and also because killing me if I was unwilling to die was next to impossible even if all the Kages teamed up. If anything it’d be playing right into the enemies hands as I’d likely kill all those involved before becoming a missing nin.-
Still in the end I was forced into early retirement as a shinobi which honestly was rather laughable. All it did was free me from any obligation I had to the village as a shinobi. I still helped with the reconstruction and medical work but that was it. Soon enough word came from Kumogakure that Naruto was going to be trained in how to use the nine tails power for himself by Killer B who was a perfect jinchuriki. While he was off doing that the village was more or less rebuilt thanks to Yamato and my own Wood release jutsus.-
I was more than happy to kick out the people who had been staying in my house till now even if there was some grumbling. One had to remember my house was nearly unaffected by the attack due to being at the far edge of the village and so still had the level of living present before that. Housing was certainly one issue but quality of living was a whole different thing. Wood release could make the basic shape of a house but wiring, septic and running water were out of our hands.-
Due to these things being made using a mix of seals and technology this was not a fast process to rectify. Not that it was any of my problem anymore as once the buildings were set I washed my hands of the matter and isolated myself back in my home. I did my part and more and that was all that mattered. Still it didn’t take long for an action plan against the akatsuki to be formed and many shinobi being sent in an alliance army of record breaking size to crush them.-
It was a massive defeat however as it turned out Kabuto had chosen to help the akatsuki and used a perfected version of Edo tensei to bring back many of the powerful dead shinobi of the S rank to fight the army. The worst however was one Madara Uchiha who singlehandedly ran rampant in the army. The reveal that he had a set of Rinnegan however and was the mastermind behind the akatsuki the entire time via proxy sent waves through the alliance. It certainly didn’t help that he revealed exactly what the plan was for the tailed beasts to the alliance just to see them despair.-
When I eventually heard the plan through a message my sensei sent me I ignored my retired status and left the village for the battlefield in a hurry and hoped I wasn’t too late. Things were chaotic when I arrived as Neji was dead and Naruto and Killer B both almost died as the tailed beasts in them were extracted. It was ironically because of Sasuke and Orochimaru, who I almost murdered on sight, that Naruto even survived. Turns out the slimy snake had put fragments of his soul in the curse marks of his subordinates and a few others and through those fragments had managed to resurrect himself.-
Through Edo tensei he had also returned the first, second, third and fourth Hokages to the land of the living which made things quite intense. I wasn’t sure about the details but when I arrived at the battlefield all these forces were facing off against a fully resurrected and in his prime Madara with a single Rinnegan in his right eye socket, the ten tails that was apparently the combination of all the tailed beasts and that creepy statue that I saw previously and one Obito Uchiha who had been the one playing Madara’s proxy this whole time and not dead like everyone thought with a single Rinnegan in his left eye socket.
