Necromancer Of The Shadows
Chapter 1340 - 1340: It's Time To Finish What We Started (Part 2)A few hours before Eclipse met Mythrenor…
“So, what is going on with this body of yours?” Sylvan asked with a strange look on his face, staring at Evan, who was lying on the ground with a pale expression.
Under the effect of his tremendous vitality, his crushed bones and damaged internal organs were healing at a rapid pace. However—
Crack! Crack! Tear! —
The sound of bones breaking and internal organs tearing echoed throughout the area, and Evan’s face turned even paler.
“Damn, I knew the third form was extremely burdensome, but to think I would end up in this state,” Evan cursed as he struggled to suppress the power of destruction constantly flowing through his body, which made it impossible for his regeneration to keep up.
After regaining consciousness, he had even tried using his Death Transfer skill to fully heal himself. But not even a second later, the power of destruction once again ravaged his body from the inside.
“What about Elora? Can’t she help you expel the power of destruction from your body?”
Evan’s mouth twitched at Sylvan’s question, and he glanced at the Halberd of Destruction lying beside him.
“She fell into a deep sleep after using all her power when I released the Annihilation move,” Evan said with a sigh. “It will take her a few hours to regain consciousness and suppress the power of destruction inside me.”
As he spoke, he tried to stand, but with both legs broken, he couldn’t.
Unable to use his physical body, Evan had no choice but to rely on his spiritual power to lift himself.
However, he had exhausted almost all his strength when he used Annihilation, so even using telekinesis made his head throb painfully.
“What kind of sh*tty-ass attack was that? Sure, it was powerful, but it turned you into deadweight,” Sylvan complained, using his own spiritual power to support Evan.
Evan sighed but couldn’t bring himself to admit that it all happened because he failed to control the third form’s power at the last moment.
The third move—Annihilation—was a single-target technique that concentrated all its power at one point. But because he failed to control it properly, the move turned into an area-of-effect attack, and the power of destruction within the Halberd went out of control.
Elora fell into a deep sleep as the result of out of control move and since she was the one who always kept the halberd’s destructive power in check, Evan couldn’t control it on his own, causing all of it to erupt at once.
It was also the reason the power of that attack nearly exceeded the boundaries of Rank Five, brushing against the threshold of threefold Rank Six.
“By the way, I wanted to ask you something,” Sylvan said suddenly, pointing to a spot a short distance away.
“Why is his body still intact? This entire area was completely annihilated and plunged into chaos, yet his corpse looks untouched.”
Evan followed Sylvan’s finger and saw Gustav’s lifeless body lying there, looking exactly the same as it had before the moment of his death.
“Have you already forgotten the name of the move I used earlier?” Evan said with a shrug. “It’s the Soul Slayer War Arts. Every move in that technique specifically targets the soul. So of course, his physical body is still perfectly intact.”
“Targets the soul, huh…” Sylvan muttered with a blank stare. “If it only targets the soul, then what the hell caused all that destruction? You do realize that if I hadn’t stopped that attack from spreading, it would have wiped out the entire kingdom, right?”
“Didn’t I already tell you?” Evan scratched his cheek awkwardly. “I lost control over the destructive energy at the end because Elora fell asleep. The out-of-control destruction was what caused all the chaos.”
“You lunatic…” Sylvan looked at Evan with an exasperated expression. “What would have happened if I hadn’t been there? Why would you even attempt to use something so dangerous when you can’t fully control it?”
Evan ignored Sylvan’s outburst and used his spiritual power to float toward Gustav.
“I only used that move because I knew you were there,” He said as he drifted forward. “If you hadn’t been around, I wouldn’t have dared to use something I couldn’t manage.”
“So you were treating me like damage control?” Sylvan asked, rolling his eyes.
Evan didn’t respond to the obvious accusation and placed Gustav’s body into his shadow storage.
Next, he summoned Elysia and asked her to carry him back to the outskirts of Maldrith Kingdom, where the teleportation formation he had used to enter the kingdom was located.
Though he wasn’t sure, Evan felt that when Elysia heard the words “carry me,” her eyes lit up like a child on their birthday.
‘Why do I have a bad feeling about this…?’ Evan thought to himself. And a few seconds later—
“What are you doing, Elysia?” Evan asked with a blank expression as Elysia dashed forward, holding him in her arms like a princess.
“I am carrying you as ordered, my princess,” She replied, smiling innocently.
A vein throbbed on Evan’s forehead. If he hadn’t been immobilized, he might have slammed her face into the ground.
‘It’s nothing new… but it still gives me a headache every time she acts like a muscle-brained idiot,’ Evan thought while taking a deep breath.
Suddenly, he noticed some unread notifications flashing on his status window.
(Your Shadow Undeads are in awe of your power)
(Your Shadow Undeads’ desire for power to help you increases tremendously)
(Some of your Shadow Undeads have broken through their limits and can now wield the power of their Transcendent Core)
“This…” A frown formed on Evan’s face as he read through the messages.
Among the names of shadow undeads capable of utilizing the power of their Transcendent Core, he saw Elysia’s name as well.
“Oy, Elysia, stop for a damn second…” He quickly called out, lowering his voice as Elysia continued hopping around with him in her arms. “What kind of power did you unlock while I was unconscious?”
As Evan’s words fell, he felt Elysia twitched a little and for some reason, his instincts warned him that she was trying to hide something.
