BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
Heaven and earth shuddered. Footsteps echoed ominously as an enormous creature, drenched in a tide of blood, slowly approached.
Even before the creature fully emerged, an overwhelming devil qi had spread across the land, shaking even the violet-crown Divine Emperors. This was no ordinary being—its aura carried the ancient laws of primal chaos and suffocating killing intent.
Once the creature got closer, everyone saw its three-hundred-meter body stride through the blood.
The creature resembled a qilin, but its body was completely covered in blood. A single horn jutted from its head, not quite a dragon horn, yet gleaming with a chilling sharpness.
Its eyes bore three pupils that radiated a savage glint, and a pair of bat-like wings could be seen on its back. The wings were etched with countless runes that resembled pairs of staring eyes. Its mere presence sent tremors through the battlefield.
This was definitely a species from the primal chaos era. None of the gathered experts had ever seen such a being before, yet the sheer malevolence of its devil qi left no doubt—it was terrifying beyond comprehension.
“That’s… the Jewel Blood Devil!”A startled cry rang out. The voice came from an elder of the Long clan, one of the four divine clans.
This elder, though a Divine Emperor, was clearly weaker than the other top figures present. Let one compare him to the violet-crown Divine Emperors, he was even weaker than Hou Tianwu’s father. Standing at the edge of the battlefield, he could only watch the fight, as he was powerless to intervene.
The moment he recognized the Jewel Blood Devil, his expression changed drastically. This was the monstrous being that the Long clan had spent countless years sealing away, yet they had never been able to destroy it.
Hearing this revelation, Long Tianrui was stunned. Her gaze shot toward the creature’s head.
On top of the Jewel Blood Devil’s head stood a man in blue robes. Though he was middle-aged, he was still extraordinarily handsome. His sharp brows and deep, ocean-like eyes carried the air of wisdom. He looked just like Long Chen, but more mature.
Mo Nian’s eyes widened in disbelief. He glanced at Long Chen, then back at the man atop the Jewel Blood Devil.
“Dad!” shouted Long Chen, his voice trembling with emotion.
After all the hardships he had endured, all the battles fought, he was finally seeing his father again. It felt like centuries had passed since their last encounter.
Long Zhantian nodded at Long Chen before gracefully stepping off the Jewel Blood Devil’s head. He landed before Feng Xinyue and respectfully bowed.
“Many thanks, senior, for looking after my son.”
Feng Xinyue smiled gently. “You don’t need to call me senior. It won’t be long before we stand as equals.”
Standing beside Feng Xinyue, Tang Wan-er felt her heart race. When she saw her future father-in-law, she became as nervous as a startled deer.
Long Zhantian simply smiled in response before approaching Long Chen.
His gaze softened upon seeing the exhaustion on his son’s face and the streak of blood trailing from his eye after using the Purgatory Eyes. At this moment, a surge of pride and pain washed over him.
This was a path every person had to walk in. To rise above others, to witness sights unseen, to not be trampled under someone else’s feet—Long Zhantian knew his son had to experience this.
“As expected of my son. Dad is proud of you,” remarked Long Zhantian as he patted Long Chen’s shoulder.
Long Chen swallowed back his emotions. Even in front of his father, he refused to show his soft side.
Beside him, Mo Nian suddenly cried out emotionally.
“Dad!”
Long Zhantian blinked in surprise.
Then, Mo Nian grinned. “Did you forget me? I’m Long Chen’s dear brother from another father and another mother!”
Long Zhantian was momentarily baffled. As he was trying to process what that even meant, Long Chen chuckled, “Dad, this is my good brother, Mo Nian. We’re as close as real brothers. But aside from having good taste in recognizing my greatness, he doesn’t have any strong points.”
Long Zhantian laughed heartily. “Good, good! After all the suffering my son and I have been through, I’ve somehow gained even more sons! Hahaha, not bad at all!”
When Long Zhantian looked at the Dragonblood warriors, he could sense how close they were to Long Chen. Knowing his son had so many life-and-death brothers, he felt pride swell in his chest. Yet, beneath that pride, a trace of sorrow flickered in his eyes.
“Dad…”
Long Chen immediately understood. His father was thinking of his fallen brothers from the Martial Heaven Continent. They had fought together, bled together, only to be lost to the sands of time. No amount of time could erase that pain.
Then a voice rang out, cutting through the moment.
“Who the hell do you think you are?! You think some pure-blooded devil is enough to stop me?! If I, Zuo Yan, want to kill someone, no one can save them!”
At first, Zuo Yan was truly shocked by the Jewel Blood Devil’s tyrannical aura. However, after observing Long Zhantian, he saw no reason to be afraid. Though Long Zhantian had Emperor-level power, it was weak compared to the true powerhouses. In Zuo Yan’s eyes, he was no threat.
Ignoring Zuo Yan, Long Zhantian continued speaking to Long Chen.
“We are father and son, but our approaches to the Dao differ. You rely too much on brute force. You always pit power against power, clashing head-on. But true strength lies in the proper usage of power. If you had mastered it, you wouldn’t have only thirty percent of your strength left right now—you’d still have at least eighty percent.”
Long Chen’s eyes widened. “Eighty percent?”
“You don’t believe me?” Long Zhantian chuckled. “Then watch closely. That guy and I are both Divine Emperors. If I were to use my Divine Emperor Crown, that would be bullying him. But this... this is just a demonstration.”
Before anyone could react, Long Zhantian vanished, without energy fluctuation or warning.
In the next instant, he was in front of Zuo Yan.
Zuo Yan recoiled in shock. Instinctively, he stepped back and swung his sword, sending a sharp arc of Sword Qi that cut through the sky.
As one of the Seven Sons of the High Heaven Sword God, Zuo Yan’s mastery of the Sword Dao was unparalleled. Even caught off-guard, his technique remained flawless.
Yet, Long Zhantian neither dodged nor blocked the slash with a weapon. He simply extended his bare hand.
Mo Nian, Long Chen, and the others gasped.
Zuo Yan’s sword was sharp enough to cut through divine weapons. A body of flesh and blood? It would be sliced apart instantly.
Moreover, Long Zhantian hadn’t summoned his Divine Emperor Crown, Heavenly Dao energy, or even his bloodline power. How could he block the slash with just his bare hands?
But then—
Five crisp sounds rang out in unison.
Zuo Yan’s sword jolted, and multiple sword-images layered on top of each other, dazzling everyone’s eyes. In the next moment, everyone saw the impossible:
Zuo Yan’s sword was in Long Zhantian’s hand. Its tip was pressed against Zuo Yan’s throat.
A deathly silence fell over the battlefield.
Countless jaws dropped. No one dared to believe what they had just witnessed.
