Chapter 6136 Very Cooperative
Long Chen grabbed the demon elder by his throat. The elder wanted to roar, but only a strange sound came from his throat. He couldn’t say a word.
The other third Heavenstage Sovereign Lords watched coldly. Not a single one moved to help. Some even sneered.
The demon elder flailed, his eyes wide with fear.
“You take lives like they’re nothing, but now that it’s your turn, you know what fear is?” Long Chen said coldly. “So life is precious after all.”
Long Chen clenched his hand, crushing the demon elder along with his Sovereign bodies.
With his Life Gate open, Long Chen could now ignore the spatial domains of third Heavenstage Sovereign Lords. Their so-called undying Sovereign bodies? Worthless. The myth that Sovereign Lords couldn’t die as long as their Sovereign bodies remained was shattered.
“Hehehe, how terrifying. This kid can kill a third Heavenstage Sovereign Lord just like that,” praised an elder with a fair complexion and a giant scroll on his back.
This elder looked very lean, and the scroll on his back was as thick as his waist.
“The Horned Owl race is second-rate. It’s not worth much bragging over,” said a middle-aged woman nearby, a zither strapped to her back.
“You say that, but Long Chen isn’t a Sovereign sprout. He doesn’t have Sovereign qi. To ignore spatial suppression with just astral energy? That is impressive,” said the scroll-wielding elder.
But then, he mocked, “However, to claim he’s the number one genius of our junior generation? That’s laughable. At best, he could handle a divine sprout with fifty Sovereign flames. Against someone with a hundred… he is clearly lacking.”
Long Chen narrowed his eyes. A hundred Sovereign flames?
“The era has changed. The nine star line has already declined,” scoffed the woman from the Zither Sect. “Long Chen might be decent among the remnants, but in my sect alone, eight juniors could defeat him. The Brahma line really is making a big deal out of nothing.”
Long Chen studied the two. They were clearly the leaders of this group, as the others subtly followed their lead. No one else dared make a move without their command.
Since they wanted to talk, Long Chen let them. He was in no rush to act. If these clowns wanted to sing and dance, he would love to see their performance.
“This Long Chen isn’t a true nine star heir,” said a sharp-eyed elder with a sword on his back. “He must’ve stumbled upon the legacy by chance. However, to cultivate the nine star line’s divine abilities to this level is impressive. That’s beyond most of the true heirs we’ve slain. We’ve never seen one reach this height.”
The elder’s presence was misty and ethereal—like he wasn’t even there. Yet, his gaze bore into Long Chen, as if trying to dissect his very soul.
Long Chen’s killing intent instantly blazed when he saw this elder. Before he had crushed the Heaven Peering Divine Mirrors, many nine star heirs had been slain. Now, he finally saw who had done the killing.
This elder was one of the Brahma line’s executioners.
“I see no point in wasting more time,” said the Zither Sect woman. “Let’s capture him and be done with it. That’s all Brahma Pill Valley wanted. We came here and laid the formation—whatever happened beyond that point isn’t our fault. As long as we hand over Long Chen, our job is done.”
And just like that, everything clicked.
These people didn’t actually care about slaying the original devil race experts. They were just following orders.
Deep down, they probably didn’t want to exterminate the original devil race—after all, the latter was still the sharpest blade against the devil creatures.
However, they didn’t want to offend the Brahma Pill Valley either, so they had no choice but to come here. Now that Long Chen had come, they had the perfect excuse not to finish their mission. No wonder they weren’t rushing to break his barrier.
Existences on their level had powerful backers. Even the Brahma Pill Valley wouldn’t dare punish them outright. They were just here to give the Brahma Pill Valley face.
The Brahma Pill Valley put these “slackers” here because it was such an easy mission. They just had to set up a barrier and stand by.
Meanwhile, the “tryhards” had been deployed to the hunting squad. With one group containing and the other pursuing, it had been a near-perfect plan.
The Brahma Pill Valley believed the exhausted original devil race would not be able to break this barrier, so they hadn’t arranged anything else.
Of course, no one had expected a cauldron to shatter their formation.
Rumors of it being the legendary Heaven Earth Cauldron had been circulating. However, no one dared to fight for it. They knew that it was a hot potato they couldn’t keep.
Killing Long Chen and taking the cauldron wasn’t difficult. But after killing him, they would have to face the bloody retribution of the dragon race, violet blood race, and the High Firmament Academy.
Even if they managed to endure their retribution, the Heaven Earth Cauldron was an item countless people wanted, especially the Brahma line. They would only be courting death by having it.
Moreover, they had no way of confirming whether the cauldron was really the Heaven Earth Cauldron. After all, Long Chen had conned even the Soaring Dragon Company with a fake cauldron.
Some even claimed that the cauldron in Long Chen’s possession was just the Earth Cauldron, one of the twin divine cauldrons. It was only useful for refining pills, not combat.
To them, an alchemy cauldron was useless. Its true value could only be realized in the hands of the Brahma Pill Valley.
In the end, whether or not the cauldron was genuine didn’t matter. No one was foolish enough to fight over it. Anyone who did would just be painting a target on their back.
Once Long Chen figured out what they were thinking, he subtly swept his divine sense over them, and his expression darkened.
He sensed a distinct aura lingering on their bodies—one that only he, a nine star heir, could recognize.
It was the blood of his kin. The blood of fallen nine star heirs.
The blood clung to them like a curse, and the one with the heaviest blood aura was the elder with the sword on his back.
“I’ll test him,” said the elder with the scroll, stepping forward confidently. “If any of you do it, you might kill him too quickly.”
He stopped ten steps from Long Chen and smiled condescendingly. “Little fellow, I’ll give you the first move. Otherwise, you wouldn’t even have a chance to—”
Pow!
Long Chen was very cooperative. Even before this elder could finish talking, he had made the first move, slapping him in the face.
