Chapter 2257: Calming Their Accountant Down

Claire's gaze remained fixated on the System window console, her mind racing as she absorbed the implications of what it had just revealed. "So, I heard what you are going to do and the reason for doing it," she said, her voice steady but laced with curiosity despite the initial anger.

Although she started to notice the sudden drastic drop in expenses when she was away talking to Yun, Claire couldn't shake the feeling that they were on the brink of something monumental that could once again crack the foundations of cash she laid her life for the company.

And with a quick look in the inventory notifications despite its extremely fast changing appearance, the System, an advanced entity designed to optimize their operations, had shifted its focus from their initial endeavour and perhaps that was the bargaining chip that Jin was trying to negotiate with Claire. No longer were they merely selling weaponry; instead, it had begun to redirect its efforts towards producing goods that were in high demand on the black market.

It was as if the System had gained a pulse, a sense of the ever-changing dynamics of the underground economy the moment the duo discussed on their future plans. Atopia, the world they had came together to create a sea of automation factories, would now churn out products tailored to meet these needs, flooding the market with goods that could potentially disrupt the balance of supply and demand.

As Jin leaned closer, his eyes narrowing in thought, he began to see the brilliance of this strategy unfold in front of him. "If we can leverage Atopia's production capabilities, we can not only recover our expenses but also build a significant foothold in the black market," he mused, excitement creeping into his tone.

The implications were clear: by creating a surplus of essential items, they could manipulate prices and exert control over a chaotic marketplace. Time was of the essence in the black market, a realm where fortunes were made or lost in the blink of an eye. The volatility of the market required not only foresight but also nimbleness in execution something that no one but the System could have.

So as Claire and Jin discussed their plan, the urgency of their money situation became evident. Therefore, the System was already at work, selling items in the active Multiverse Black Market, generating revenue that would help mitigate the financial burdens they had accumulated.

"Every second counts," Claire reiterated changing the topic at hand for the moment while her eyes darting between the console and Jin. "We need to ensure that Atopia is producing effectively and that the System is optimizing our sales strategy."

As she spoke, the figures on the console began to shift, reflecting the changes in production outputs and financial projections. The numbers seemed to dance before her eyes, a testament to the ability the System had.

Jin nodded, his mind racing with approximate calculations and joined the derailed conversation for the moment. "If we can anticipate the demands of the market, we can position ourselves as key players. We -well erm in this case, the System just need to identify the trends, see what's selling, and adjust our production accordingly."

With a determined look, he began to outline a long term strategy but Claire disagreed on a few things with the System continuously putting in effort to get their money back. They would need to gather data, analyse patterns, and make quick decisions based on the ever-evolving landscape of the black market.

As they delved deeper into discussion, Claire despite knowing the System for some time, couldn't help but admire the capabilities of the System. It was more than just a tool; it had become a crucial ally and perhaps she should have used it the way she utilised her Accounting Sub System. The way it analysed data, forecasted trends, and adjusted outputs in real time was nothing short of remarkable and though the Accounting Sub System was able to do this, they were dealing with massive inflow and outflow of products which was out of their scope. With it at their helm, they could harness the full power of Atopia's production to turn the tide in their favour.

"Let's set up a series of automated alerts," Claire suggested, her fingers flying over the console's interface. "We need to know the moment a product starts trending or if there are sudden shifts in demand."

The bustling sound of System Alerts echoed around them, a stark reminder of the conversation that Jin harboured. He stared at the holographic map of the Mecha Universe before guiding Claire back to the current conversation. "So yes, this is to flush out this mysterious third party using the Mecha Universe," he stated, his voice steady despite the chaos swirling in his mind.

Before he could delve deeper into his plans, Claire, his fiery and fiercely loyal colleague, interrupted him. "But that doesn't mean you need to clear it before your expansion in the Celestial or Hell Plane, right? How can one freaking Celestial think that you can conquer an entire universe? An ENTIRE UNIVERSE! Not just one world, for crying out loud! Seriously, they're pouring their own standards onto humans."

Jin blinked, momentarily speechless. Claire's passionate tirade against the Celestials took him by surprise especially when her concentration could still be on the System's console. He knew she had strong views, but hearing her curse so openly about beings they should be wary of sent a chill down his spine.

He cast a quick glance around, half-expecting the ethereal overseers to appear, ready to reprimand them for their insolence. The last thing he wanted was for Vishnu's disciples to overhear their conversation—especially since they had a knack for showing up at the most inconvenient times. Jin had left Atopia to strategize his approach back in his own world, but he had a nagging feeling that the Celestials were always watching, monitoring their every move.

"I've decided to change my approach," he finally said, his tone softer. "I shamelessly realized our wealth isn't as vast as I thought it was… Especially after seeing this erm breakthrough we are getting right now"

Claire crossed her arms, her expression a mix of concern and frustration. "Look, I get that you're the boss. If you want to take risks for your agenda or your goals, that's your prerogative. But you have to appreciate that you're working with employees right here, who are trying to help you earn money too." Jin felt a pang of guilt at her words. He knew she was right. He had been so focused on the sprawling ambitions of expanding their influence across realms—from the Goblin World to the Dungeon World—that he had overlooked the practicalities.

"And stop giving me heart attacks! Maybe communicate with me more instead of leaving everything on my shoulders. I might be capable, but I'm not omnipotent like your Celestials." Claire ran a hand through her hair, the weight of their responsibilities pressing down heavily.

"I still need time to generate revenue and ensure our cash flow is sufficient—not just for your STORE. You have to remember that we're REBUILDING a town in Goblin World, managing NINE cities in Dungeon World, taking care of an ENTIRE Northern Region, and now—now we're trying to establish our proper production footing in Atopia. Let's not even bring up the fact that we've made a pact with the Virtual Reality world." Claire's eyes widened at the rapid-fire litany of obligations they had taken on.

"System, did I miss anything?" Claire continued, her voice rising with each word.

"No? Never mind! I don't want to hear any more about it. Knowing I missed something will just make me more depressed!" Despite the ambitious growth they were pursuing, Claire's exasperation painted a different picture. To her, these land acquisitions felt overwhelming rather than triumphant. They were so caught up in the grand scheme of things that the tangible tasks of managing resources and ensuring financial sustainability were slipping through their fingers.

Claire sighed, her demeanour softening as she placed a reassuring hand on Jin's shoulder. "I know you're excited about what lies ahead, and we all believe in your vision. But we need a solid foundation before we take on the cosmos. Let's regroup, reassess our strategies, and tackle this step by step—together." Jin looked into Claire's determined eyes. He realized that amidst the chaos of their ambitious plans, he had overlooked the importance of collaboration and communication. They were in this together, after all. With a newfound resolve, he nodded.

"You're right. It's time we grounded our dreams in reality and built a strategy that supports our growth sustainably. Let's chart out a plan that balances our aspirations and our immediate needs." Jin tried to please Claire with some pretty words to keep her anger in check.

Yun leaned back in her chair, an amused smirk playing on her lips as Claire's sharp gaze continued to bore into Jin with a ferocity that could cut glass. In the ever-evolving landscape of commerce and power, the stakes were high, and the future of their ventures hung in the balance. "So, what is your approach?" Claire's voice cut through the tension, demanding answers with an intensity that brooked no delay.

Having spent what felt like an eternity discussing the implications of their plans, Claire had decided it was time for Jin to take the stage. Taking a deep breath, Jin felt the weight of their collective ambitions pressing down on him. "I've taken into consideration what you said about the length and erm breath of our operations. You're right in pointing out that the opening of the stores in the Celestial or Hell Plane should not be overshadowed by the mysterious third party. Those requests from the Celestials were merely hints, suggesting that assisting them would indeed yield benefits, especially since I earned the right to use the plane for selling dungeon instances."

Claire's brow furrowed slightly as she considered his words. The dynamics of their current situation were complex, and the prospect of dealing with entities as unpredictable as the Celestials added another layer of uncertainty. The room fell silent for a moment, each of them contemplating the implications of the decisions that lay ahead.

"The System would like to remind you that there is a clause to aid them in the event of this mysterious third party," the voice of the System echoed, a disembodied reminder of the contractual obligations they had entered into. "Right, but they are the ones asking for help," Jin countered, his tone a mix of resolve and frustration. "We can provide assistance when things take a turn for the worse. A little scouting, some intel gathering—stuff like that, right?"

He glanced at the System, hoping for affirmation. To his relief, the digital entity's review of the rules confirmed that his interpretation was not entirely misguided. Claire crossed her arms, her expression shifting from scepticism to contemplation.

"Great. You're starting to think like a businessman again. It's refreshing, considering the hornet's nest of politics you've been wading through. Look, I'm not dismissing the experience of being a king; it has its merits. But you have to understand that in the realm of business, righteousness doesn't always pay off. You can be respected, but respect means nothing if you're not getting what you need out of the deal."

Yun watched the exchange, her eyes darting between the two, sensing the underlying tension. She sent a telepathic message to Jin, her tone laced with a mixture of sarcasm and understanding. "She sure is talkative…"

Jin couldn't help but chuckle at that. "She gets this way when she's mad," he responded silently, a knowing smile creeping onto his face.

"Just make sure to get straight to the point when you can actually talk." As they continued to strategize, the implications of their decisions began to crystallize. The fate of their business endeavours in this futuristic world rested upon their ability to navigate the murky waters of power dynamics, alliances, and the unpredictable nature of the Celestials and perhaps the Demons too.

Jin felt the weight of his past decisions pressing down on him, yet with each passing moment, he felt a flicker of determination igniting within. He turned back to Claire.

"Since we are talking about this, let's not forget the potential risks involved. We dive into these new expansions without a clear understanding of the third party's intentions. Our approach must be calculated. We can't afford to underestimate them—ignorance could lead to our downfall." Claire added to caution Jin who might had been too comfortable with success.

He nodded, her expression softening as she recognized the shift in Jin's demeanour. "Exactly. We must tread carefully, considering every possible outcome. If we can stay one step ahead, we can turn this situation to our advantage." Jin said.

"What if we set up a system of communication with the Celestials? Establishing a direct line could help us gauge their needs and intentions more clearly. That way, we aren't left in the dark, waiting for the shoe to drop." Yun questioned.

"Ah, the one from Vishnu disciples… I will get to that." And before Yun could reply Jin, Claire was there blabbering her nonsense once more.

"She's like this when she's mad. Just get straight to the point when you can talk." Yun sighed quietly as she communicated back to Jin despite the 'chanting' from Claire.
