ONLINE GAME: I STARTED WITH MAX CHARISMA AND CAUGHT THE GODDESS'S EYE

Chapter 345 - 345: Using Oneself as Bait! Zenobia's Arrogance! A Surprise!

By the time Luca reappeared, he was already several dozen kilometers away from the monster horde. Not far ahead, the ordinary civilians who had evacuated from the shelter were scattered across the road.

One transport truck after another sped down the highway, with Halwind and his group leading the way at the front. Donlow and Fuzzsir stood at the back of the crowd, watching the monster horde in the distance.

Buzz! A Rune crafting suddenly unfolded.

The next moment, both of them saw a flash of white light, and Luca’s figure appeared right in front of them.

“Did you get hurt?” Donlow quickly jumped out of the vehicle and came over to check. When she saw that Luca was unharmed, she let out a long sigh of relief.

Fuzzsir, standing beside them, muttered in dissatisfaction, “Why didn’t you ask me if I was okay? Am I not a person? Are you discriminating against mentally unstable people?”

The two of them ignored him. Brade Morningsong and the others were already out of sight. Luca looked toward the monster horde, which had been left far behind. A fleeting shadow of gloom crossed his face.

Although there was no evidence, and it was highly likely he was mistaken, Luca had a strong feeling that the figure he had encountered earlier was Zenobia. Furthermore, the current monster horde was probably her doing.

This gut feeling was something he had sharpened through countless battles on the Extraterritorial Battlefield in his past life. What puzzled him, though, was how that vile woman, Zenobia, had managed to escape from the Abyssal Demon Realm’s seals.

Still, Luca could guess her objective—she was after the Sinful Divine Rank and Sophia’s Divine Soul in his possession. Of course, she might also be seeking revenge against him. After a brief moment of contemplation, Luca spoke, “You two should go with these civilians to the shelter. I won’t be joining you.”

Since Zenobia was after him, staying with Donlow and the others would only put them in danger.

Upon hearing this, Donlow and Fuzzsir were both confused.

Before they could ask any questions, Luca began striding toward the front of the crowd. His speed was astonishing, faster than even the trucks. Donlow and Fuzzsir exchanged puzzled glances and, not understanding his intentions, could only follow him.

It didn’t take long before Luca caught up to the truck carrying Halwind and the others at the front. He propelled himself forward with a burst of energy, leaping onto the truck’s hood before nimbly sliding through the window.

Looking at the frightened faces of Halwind and the others, Luca asked, “How far is it to the next shelter?”

The group of people from the Eastern Territory Morning Star were still stunned, their bodies slightly trembling from the shock. They couldn’t hide their fear, wondering how this bloodthirsty figure had suddenly appeared here.

Halwind was the quickest to react, trembling as he answered, “It’s… it’s still over fifty kilometers.”

Luca nodded slightly. Given the speed at which the monster horde was advancing, that distance would take only a few hours to cover. If this monster horde was truly coming after him, that distance would be enough to ensure the safety of everyone else.

“You go ahead, don’t wait for me.” Without delay, Luca jumped down from the truck, turned to Donlow and Fuzzsir, who had followed him, and spoke. Behind him, a pair of black wings resembling a long coat sprouted, and he shot off into the sky like a meteor, heading in the opposite direction. Donlow and Fuzzsir didn’t have time to say anything more before Luca’s figure had already become a tiny speck in the sky.

Halwind and the others let out a long breath at the sight. While Luca had been with them, they felt an immense pressure, constantly fearing that this murderous figure might suddenly strike them down.

“Look at the monster horde!” one of the members from the Eastern Territory Morning Star suddenly exclaimed.

Hearing this, everyone turned to look, and they were stunned by what they saw. The once dense and overwhelming monster horde, charging toward them, suddenly made a sharp turn and began heading directly toward Luca.

It was as if a straight line had inexplicably changed direction, which felt incredibly bizarre.

Not only Halwind and the others, but even Donlow and Fuzzsir stood in stunned silence.

Donlow gasped, “What’s going on with these monsters?”

She couldn’t understand why so many monsters would suddenly switch their target to pursue Luca, while letting them and the others go free.

“It must be some kind of trick Luca used,” Donlow speculated. She didn’t know much about Luca’s abilities, but he was always so mysterious, and it seemed like strange things always happened around him. The two of them were curious about what kind of method Luca had used to command so many monsters.

However, now was not the time to be pondering that. They had to take advantage of this opportunity and get the people from Shelter 303 to the secure zone quickly, or Luca’s efforts would be in vain.

Meanwhile, Brade Morningsong and the others, who had already left the danger zone, also witnessed this spectacular scene. When they saw that Luca had single-handedly led away a million monsters, even Brade Morningsong was startled. Spritlane and the others couldn’t help but glance in Luca’s direction, their eyes filled with a touch of awe.

Regardless of the place or identity, people with strength always earned more respect from others.

“This guy certainly has a lot of tricks up his sleeve.” Brade Morningsong narrowed his eyes and said to Spritlane, Zhang Ming, and the others, who were still standing there in shock, “I’ll go give him a little surprise. If this guy survives and makes it back, make sure someone investigates his background thoroughly.”

Without waiting for Spritlane and Zhang Ming to respond, Brade Morningsong’s figure transformed into a flash of blood-red light as he sped toward Luca’s direction.

At the same time, atop the Bone Throne in Leaf City’s tallest building, Zenobia suddenly opened her eyes, violet divine light swirling within her pupils. “Has he noticed me? He really is quite perceptive.”

Luca’s earlier glance had been captured by her in full.

This guy had clearly sensed her presence.

Zenobia didn’t care. As long as she could restore even a fraction of her previous strength, she would be able to crush everything in this world and reclaim what rightfully belonged to her.

Even though she understood that Luca’s intention was to use himself as bait to draw the monster horde away, Zenobia did not stop him. Instead, her eyes gleamed, and she slowly spoke, “All monsters, obey my command! At any cost, bring him down!”

The monsters outside Wind City all heard Zenobia’s voice in their minds at almost the same moment.

This was the command of their creator, and the obedience to her was deeply engraved in the very souls of all the monsters, leaving them no room to entertain any thought of resistance.

Roar! Roar! Roar!!! Countless monsters let out hysterical roars, their voices crashing out like a tsunami, sweeping in all directions. It was as if the very heavens and earth would be shattered under the force of their howls.

All the monsters turned their gaze toward Luca at the front. Their eyes flashed with a red glow, and the wild Demonic energy surrounding them turned the sky within a hundred miles black, completely obscuring the sun.

“Hmm?” Luca, who was leisurely walking ahead while walking his dog, furrowed his brow as he glanced behind him at the monster horde, who seemed to be on some kind of frenzy. He was puzzled about why these creatures suddenly seemed to go into overdrive.

But once he noticed the faint purple gleam in their eyes, he understood everything. It was that vile woman Zenobia behind all of this.

“This woman better not fall into my hands again, or else…” Luca muttered to himself as he quickened his pace.

Behind him, the monsters chased with bared fangs and claws, and just a glance at them made one’s scalp tingle in fear.

Though the monster horde had increased its speed, it was still nothing significant to Luca. What limited his speed wasn’t the monsters, but rather Donlow and the others.

Until they and the civilians were completely safe, he couldn’t afford to break free from the monsters. Doing so could lead to even worse consequences.

So, under Luca’s deliberate control, the distance between them remained at a relatively safe length.

It was similar to the monster-pulling tactic he had used in Leaf City. This was a method often used by later generations of players, but to the people of this time, it seemed quite unprecedented.

Sky James, who had already left, somehow circled back around. Watching Luca effortlessly lead the monster horde toward the distance, he couldn’t help but marvel internally.

Luca was becoming more and more absurd.

Celephais had already made a huge impression by holding up the Sunshine Tower with one hand, but now, just a short while later, Luca was running circles around monsters. It was truly shocking.

As Sky James considered whether he should try to build a better relationship with Luca, his gaze suddenly caught a dark figure rapidly heading toward Luca’s direction.

His heart skipped a beat as he realized who it was.

It was Brade Morningsong!

Surrounded by a dense aura of bloodlust, Brade streaked across the sky, leaving a trail like a dragon behind him. His wild voice echoed above the monster horde, “Hahaha, kid, let me see what other tricks you have!”

As soon as his words fell, the bloodlight wrapped around him surged into the sky, transforming into an enormous, blood-covered tiger pattern that was several hundred meters tall. It charged forward, pouncing directly toward Luca, who was still leading the monster horde. Luca had originally thought that Brade Morningsong and the others had already left, and his attention was fully focused on the monsters behind him.

But by the time he turned around, the monstrous blood tiger was already right in front of him, its massive jaws completely blocking his line of sight. In that instant, Luca’s killing intent surged like a flood, overwhelming his heart and mind, rising in a massive wave.

This damn creature!

Boom! The blood tiger exploded, sending a tidal wave of blood crashing toward Luca.

The defensive magic runes he had hastily drawn on his body shattered instantly. He was sent flying through the air like a broken sack, and the direction he was flung toward was exactly where the monster horde was.

Having been toyed with by Luca for so long, the monsters had long since harbored a burning hatred and were eager to feast on his flesh. There was no way they would let this perfect opportunity slip by, and they immediately surged toward him.

“Luca!!” Donlow and the others, who had been observing him, let out cries of alarm, their faces filled with fury as they glared up at Brade Morningsong, who had launched the sneak attack. They gritted their teeth in anger.

Since they couldn’t defeat Luca head-on, this despicable bastard resorted to a sneak attack. What a shameful disgrace to Morning Star!

Brade Morningsong, however, did not hear their curses, and even if he did, he wouldn’t have cared. He pointed his long blade toward Luca, who had fallen into the monster horde, and laughed triumphantly, “No matter how powerful you are, Luca, no matter how transcendent your strength or extraordinary your talent, in the end, you will still die at the hands of these monsters!”

“Morning Star will only have one true genius, and that is me—Brade Morningsong!”
